For some reason, none of the shortcuts you are giving me are working,

having problems with the message list view. Also, some messages are
displaying really weirdly, i.e. jaws treats them like tables. I'm
wondering

whether I will have better luck with windows live mail?

The show in groups is also in the view menu. Hit alt v, then a and then
b,

that will bring you to a dialog box, arrow down until you here show in
groups. If it is checked, then hit enter to uncheck it.

Well, first uncheck the box that says show in list view, unless you like
this particular setting. Second, turn off the preview pain. Too do
this,

hit alt v, then the letters p and n, arrow down to off, and hit enter.

That

should take care of your sluggishness.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 13 Public Beta 2 has been released

2011-09-26 Thread Eric Damery
All,

Below is the list of changes that have occurred as a result of feedback
over the past few weeks. If you have JAWS 13 public beta 1 installed,
the next time you restart JAWS 13, it should alert you that the update
is now available. Work is continuing and we expect the next update for
you within 3 weeks.

Regards,

Eric Damery

Enhancements in JAWS 13.0.171 (September 26, 2011)

The following is a list of improvements made between JAWS 13.0.97,
public beta 1, and 13.0.171, public beta 2. Note that while many
customer reported enhancements are included in this release, the
following is a list of more notable changes.

JAWS

* Added three new keystrokes to the Table layer (INSERT+SPACEBAR,
T). They are ALT+COMMA to read the current cell, WINDOWS KEY+COMMA to
read the current row, and WINDOWS KEY+PERIOD to read the current column.
* JAWS now announces links in the Results Viewer when navigating
using TAB or SHIFT+TAB.
* Resolved an issue with the Amazon Product Search ResearchIt
lookup source not returning any results.
* Addressed an issue of no speech on the Windows logon screen if a
Handy Tech braille display was connected.
* You can now press H in addition to QUESTION MARK from within a
layer to get help on layered keystrokes. For example, INSERT+SPACEBAR,
O, H will list the keystrokes in the OCR layer. This addresses issues
encountered using QUESTION MARK on non-English keyboards.
* Updated the JAWS help with new topics for the Convenient OCR
feature.
* Resolved an issue in Settings Center where the search was being
cleared after pressing CTRL+SHIFT+D to open Default.
* Addressed a reported issue where JAWS would speak dollar
amounts, such as $27.19, as a combination of pairs and single digits
even with Number Processing set to Single Digits.
* Added access keys for the OK and Cancel buttons in all JAWS
place marker dialog boxes.
* When pressing UP or DOWN ARROW on the Display Placemarkers For
group of radio buttons, addressed an issue where focus would move to the
next or previous control instead of remaining on the selected option.
* Resolved an issue using JAWS with the Event Viewer in Windows
XP.
* Resolved an issue selecting text using the SHIFT+CURSOR ROUTER
buttons on Focus braille displays.
* Improved skim reading a document when using the Attributes and
Color Rules Apply for Reading option.
* Resolved an issue in Settings Center where the location in the
tree view was lost when switching to another application then back to
Settings Center.
* The custom placemarker summary is now displayed in the Results
Viewer as expected.
* Resolved an issue in the Modify Voice Alias dialog box where
JAWS was not speaking the names of the Pitch and Rate slider controls
when modifying the OCR Voice alias.
* Addressed a reported issue selecting the laptop keyboard layout
using the Startup Wizard.

Quick Settings

* In Windows 7, after you press the APPLICATIONS key on an item in
the tree view to open the context menu to change the persistence level,
resolved an issue where the braille display would only show the first
item in the menu even though JAWS would speak the other options as you
navigate. In addition, the check mark indicating the current persistence
level for an option is now shown in braille.
* Updated the INSERT+F1 help messages for the Search edit field
and the tree view to provide more information specific to Quick
Settings.
* Toggling the Select and Copy option, located under the Virtual
Cursor options, now works as expected when set to Virtual Cursor or
Using On Screen Highlight.
* Added context help for the Last Changed Settings tree view item.
* Addressed an issue where changing the punctuation setting for an
application in Quick Settings would not work. JAWS would continue using
the default punctuation selected in the Startup Wizard.

Convenient OCR

* Resolved an issue reading text with the Invisible Cursor after
performing OCR in a PDF document.
* Resolved an issue with Convenient OCR not recognizing the last
line of a screen from a DVD movie.
* Resolved an issue where JAWS would close when attempting to
perform OCR and a Handy Tech braille display was connected.
* Resolved an issue where JAWS would not close properly if you
attempted to close it while OCR is in progress.

Adobe Acrobat

* Addressed an issue that could occur when launching JAWS in Adobe
Reader 10 while MAGic is currently running.

IBM Lotus Notes

* Resolved a reported issue with selecting and copying text where
the prior line was being copied to the clipboard instead of the
currently selected text.

Microsoft Access

* Addressed an issue navigating in data tables in Access 2007 and
2010.

Microsoft Excel

* Added more descriptive Keyboard Help messages for the ALT+PAGE
UP and ALT+PAGE DOWN keystrokes.
* Changes in attributes such as

Mike,

It is on the web site but it could be helpful if you would call support
and have them get your logs from the update attempt so we can figure out
what is different on your machine causing that update to fail. Please
explain to them when you call in, that you had tried to update and got
the failure message. And that I asked you to call them and get your
update logs sent in.

Dear Devona,

Prayer Dogs

Jesus asked them, Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil,
to
save life or to kill? But they remained silent. He looked around at them in
anger

and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts... -- Mark 3:4-5

My friend, Marlys, who heads up a Christian disabilities group, recently
visited
an internationally renowned prayer center. As she was sitting in the prayer
room,
interceding and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, a staff member from the
prayer
center motioned to her and asked her to step outside. Ma'am, he said,
we're
a little concerned about two blind members in your group. The two blind
people went
into the prayer room with their guide dogs. I don't think that's proper. I'm
concerned
that having a dog in the room would grieve the Holy Spirit. How do you think
the

Lord feels about this?

Marlys could hardly believe her ears. It was all she could do to stifle her
anger.
What she said was, I think God is saying, 'Hallelujah! I'm glad they're
here!
Still, the man persisted. He thought someone should remove the dogs and let
the
blind individuals remain in the room to pray. After ten minutes of haggling,
the

staff member finally relented.

The whole affair reminded me of Jesus' words in Matthew 23:23-24, You give
a tenth
of your spices - mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more
important
matters of the law - justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have
practiced
the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out
a gnat
but swallow a camel. Thank heavens, there is a higher law which
incorporates prudence,

compassion, and a more exalted perspective!

*  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *
*

*  *  *  *

How often we believers lose our focus and put more emphasis on externals,
rules,
and practices, rather than on God's passion for lost and hopeless people.
Which

means more to the Lord... religious decorum, or eternal souls?

Dear Father, keep me from becoming distracted by minor issues and trivial
infractions,
so that I fail to walk in your great yearning for men and women to turn back
to

you. As David prayed so long ago, Renew a right spirit within me.

Blessings,

Hello Tasha,

The View tab of the ribbon is where you can find various options for
controlling the way that your messages are displayed. If the Show as
conversation checkbox is checked then you will get a grouping result
in your message list. The Layout group has three buttons that
primarily control the type and amount of information to be displayed.
The information I am showing below applies when the virtual ribbon menu is
not being used.
There still are messages that JAWS will not read well when opened but
you can open those messages in your browser and read them correctly.
To do so, open the message from the message list and then use Alt
followed by H followed by A followed by V. Your browser should load
with the message displayed. Here is some information I sent a person a
month or two ago that might give you some tips about working with your
message list in Outlook 2010. Feel free to write me off list if I can
answer any questions or help you further.

You can control layouts by using the buttons for the Navigation Pane,
reading pane and the To Do bar in the layout group under the view tab.
Use Alt followed by V to move to the view tab or Alt and then right arrow
to it.
Tab into the lower part of the ribbon and keep tabbing until you find
the button for the navigation pane, which is in the layout group. Use
tab once more and you will find the button for the reading pane. Tab
again and you will find the button for the To Do bar. Pressing
spacebar on each of those buttons will present you with a list of
choices. Use up or down arrow key in the list and press enter key on
the appropriate choice. There is also an options choice for more specific
selections.

If you do not want the calendar events or tasks showing then change the
status of the To Do bar from normal to off. Use the To Do button in
the layout group of the view tab of the ribbon. If you choose to
minimize the To Do list in the choices given after choosing that button
then the other checked items will not be shown in the window. However,
you will be able to temporarily show the items by using tab or
shift+tab from the message lis to the To Do button minimized choice and
pressing enter key. If you use the To Do button in the layout group of
the view tab then you will get checkboxes for the items to show. They
will include tasks, date navigator, calendar, number of months to show,
etc. If you don't want those items showing on the screen then apply
the off status by pressing

* JAWS now announces links in the Results Viewer when navigating
using TAB or SHIFT+TAB.

If the message was created using text formatting then it

it should

Hello Tasha,

The View tab of the ribbon is where you can find various
options for
controlling the way that your messages are displayed. If
the Show as
conversation checkbox is checked then you will get a
grouping result
in your message list. The Layout group has three buttons
that
primarily control the type and amount of information to be
displayed.
The information I am showing below applies when the virtual
ribbon menu is
not being used.
There still are messages that JAWS will not read well when
opened but
you can open those messages in your browser and read them
correctly.
To do so, open the message from the message list and then
use Alt
followed by H followed by A followed by V. Your browser
should load
with the message displayed. Here is some information I
sent a person a
month or two ago that might give you some tips about
working with your
message list in Outlook 2010. Feel free to write me off
list if I can
answer any questions or help you further.

You can control layouts by using the buttons for the
Navigation Pane,
reading pane and the To Do bar in the layout group under
the view tab.
Use Alt followed by V to move to the view tab or Alt and
then right arrow
to it.
Tab into the lower part of the ribbon and keep tabbing
until you find
the button for the navigation pane, which is in the layout
group. Use
tab once more and you will find the button for the reading
pane. Tab
again and you will find the button for the To Do bar.
Pressing
spacebar on each of those buttons will present you with a
list of
choices. Use up or down arrow key in the list and press
enter key on
the appropriate choice. There is also an options choice
for more specific
selections.

If you do not want the calendar events or tasks showing
then change the
status of the To Do bar from normal to off. Use the To Do
button in
the layout group of the view tab of the ribbon. If you
choose to
minimize the To Do list in the choices given after choosing
that button
then the other checked items will not

I make changes in the default setting center in keyboard labels to mute certain
keys, such as escape, tab, home, end, insert and so forth. The setting for all
changes aren't saving. After I OK the changes and go back to an application
such as email most of the keys I muted are still speaking. If I go back to the

to it's original state. Anybody else having this problem?

Since today's update, when I'm typing an email and a new email comes into my

have to go back into the email to continue typing. Is anyone else having
this problem. I went to the FS website to submit a bug report but it's

All,

Below is the list of changes that have occurred as a result of feedback
over the past few weeks. If you have JAWS 13 public beta 1 installed,
the next time you restart JAWS 13, it should alert you that the update
is now available. Work is continuing and we expect the next update for
you within 3 weeks.

* JAWS now announces links in the Results Viewer when navigating
using TAB or SHIFT+TAB.
* Addressed a reported issue selecting the laptop keyboard layout
using the Startup Wizard.

Re: [JAWS-Users] CAPTCHA

2011-09-26 Thread inthane
actually you both have missed something, what was done by control O in
internet explorer is done by control L in Firefox and the reverse is true as
well if you hit control l in I.E. up to version 8 at least, you open an on
the computer file open dialog box FF just reversed the two commands

Hi,
The open dialog in Firefox threw a curve ball at me too when I first
started using it. That dialog is really only meant for opening files
stored locally on your computer. If you use alt d to go to the address
bar rather than control o, you should have no problems typing in
addresses whether you shorten them or not. HTH.

Well I just did maintenance on my PC running Jaws 12 and XP Pro. I still

I notice that with FF one needs to type the entire URL name? Am I right

that?
I tested freedom scientific because I figure their link would have all
accessibility stuff.
I control+o and typed Freedomscientific.com and link not found. I tried
several and then realized I need to precede link name with
http://www.freedomscientific.com
I went on other sites and Jaws was very clumbsy so I'd thought it could
be a

mainntenance issue.
I did get Webvisum to work by typing alt+control+6 and Webvisum stated
to
wait then infomation could be copied from clipboard. So FF6 worked for

but I only need to use FF when I encounter a
CAPTCHA. But I'll keep working on learning FF because I know many who
prefer Firefox to IE.

Thanks again.
