[JAWS-Users] Outlook and Jaws
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this list. I am receiving assistance with setting up and adjusting to a new Windows 7 computer with Jaws 13 and I E 9. Some of you know me from other lists so you know I'm an older person, very inept and uncomfortable with computer technology even though I've been using it for quite some time. So I have just a very simple question at this point. We installed Outlook because it is similar to Outlook Express and because I didn't want to deal with WLM. But nothing has really been configured yet. I noticed that when reading emails, Jaws 13 is reading the header as well as the body of the email. It isn't doing that on my old computer. I have Jaws 12 and Outlook Express and if I want to read the header I have to shift tab to get to the top of it. Is that because the program is different or because we haven't configured Jaws not to read the header? [JAWS-Users] say all in Jaws 12
On muy old Windows XP computer, we recently installed Jaws 12. But very often, if I use say all to read a long email or an article on the web, Jaws stops reading suddenly and I am returned to the beginning of the article or email. Has anyone encountered this and is there a solution? I've resorted to reading line by line. Or, occasionally, if I use say all and remember the last phrase I heard, I can find it again with Jaws Find and continue. I emailed FS when this happened and they made one or two suggestions, but these didn't work. I haven't had occasion to see if the problem exists in word. Re: [JAWS-Users] Sapi DECTalk? - Was: Re: DecTalk USB not working in Vista
Dear MIss Ariana, I am sure more than I are intested in a sapi version of DECTAlk. I know that a Miss Margret on here especially would love it as she has mentioned her frustration of DECTalk Access32 not working with anything higher than jaws 10. IN fact, this is of interst beyond this jaws list as a sapi version of DECTAlk would work not only with jaws but anything that supported sapi. I know nvda users would love to have another light-weight but better sounding synth to use with nvda. I had heard about a sapi version being worked on but not of it having been released. so why not just post the homepage of the program or is it being sold by GW Micro as DECTalk Access used to be? Also the price tag would be intersting to know. Anyway, I think we all would benefit from the information and not just me. Maybe this shiny new DECTalk was released just in time for Christmas? Thanks for any Information! Eagerly and curiously awaiting your reply! Likely, you are getting either a page refresh or a flash refresh. Try turning off the automatic page refresh under HTML options. I think in Jaws 12, you can just type in page refresh using the insert-6 dialog. Don't worry about what people think--they don't do it very often! Once you get use to WLM contact structure it is not so bad but the learning curve for me took a while. What I hate about WLM is I could never get it from auto removing messages from inbox to trash. My WLM server is not working correctly for my GMAIL account so for the time being I am using outlook. However once I get the problems with WLM fixed I will be going back there. First, I have to send the program as an attachment and the email lists do not allow attachments. This is why I said I'd send it to you directly if I have your email address. There is no charge for this and I don't think it's brand new. I don't even remember where I got it; I think it was from one of the lists. so, send me your email address and I'll get it off to you. You can then send it to anyone you wish to. Re: [JAWS-Users] say all in Jaws 12
With Jaws 12, if you have Internet Explorer opened, just do insert-6. You will get the searchbox that you are getting familiar with on your Win 7 machine where you hit the windows key and start typing and it auto-completes the entry for you. In this case with Jaws, after you press insert-6, just type page, for example, or refresh. When you hit down arrow, you will hear Jaws announce your search result. Just press enter and then spacebar will alternate through your choices. You want the page refresh filter turned off or suppressed. Hope that helped. The voice did the same thing, coming through my speakers as rapidly and as high pitched as possible. Now I have removed the DecTalk and am using SAPI DecTalk, so I'll see how things go from here. I like the external synthesizer because I do not like JAWS coming from the same speakers music or movies come from. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook and Jaws
Of course, quite a few are but many aren't. You need to be more cognizant of what software somebody is asking about. For example, Windows Live Mail 15 has a ribbon menu, and your Windows Mail does not and never will. Even with Windows Live 14, the contact management and selecting recipients is entirely different than how it is handled in Windows Mail. Using JAWS 9 and IE 8, I am somehow no longer able to change or select any options on the Google search settings page under options on the Google home page. For example, under the heading Google Instant Predictions, the words On and Off are displayed, but there is apparently no way to select either of these options. Under the Results Per Page heading, the numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 100 are shown, but there is no way to select the option you want. And when I hit Space or Enter on the Save Preferences button, nothing happens. I have cookies enabled, so that's not the issue. JAWS announces that there are no check boxes or radio boxes on the page. I never had problems with the Google Search Settings page before. Previously, the settings could be changed by selecting the appropriate check box or radio box, but JAWS either no longer recognizes these boxes on the Search Settings page, or they have otherwise been eliminated. Did Google change the Search Settings page so that it is no longer JAWS accessible? Or am I missing something? Can someone explain what the heck is going on with the Google Search Settings page? Thanks for any help. [JAWS-Users] a google search work around
When using google to perform a search sometimes when typing nothing gets written in the edit field. This can be frustrating but a work around that seems to work for me is to temporarily switch to the view google in mobile link and then switch back. Then at least for a while the problem goes away only to return again periodically. (smile) I like the regular google because the page shows much more info. Re: [JAWS-Users] Sapi DECTalk? - Was: Re: DecTalk USB not working in Vista
Dear MIss Arianna, I never thought you meant any harm. I was just intersted in the resource and hoped there was an official public version of a sapi dectalk, commercial, freeware, oropen source, that could be enjoyed and used by everyone. If you could verify the source, maybe this could be something mr. Tekkie Dave could indeed host on his website. thanks much. [JAWS-Users] outlook address book woes and observations
I talked about my problems importing my CSV file in outlook2007. Well, I decided to just put names and addresses in contacts manually. However, when I try and save the name and address outlook says this name and address already exists do I want to replace it? I tried different entry names with the same results. How can I delete names that are not visible ans/oer delete the address book completely and let outlook rebuild it if possible. Somebody suggested I contact MS but I recall when I called them several years ago it cost $25 an hour. I don't have that kind of money! Re: [JAWS-Users] Sapi DECTalk? - Was: Re: DecTalk USB not working in Vista
guys this isn't the ductal that doris heard about that would be released. that version is still being worked on. This version is one that a few people got from the original owners when trying to work on that version that hasn't been released. Hope that clears it up. It's a sapi version of ductal 5.0 with sounds close to what the ductal usb sounds like and sounds more closely to mobile speak.
