Re: [JAWS-Users] Compro E750 Dual Digital T.V. Tuner

2012-01-04 Thread Hicks Steven (CORNWALL IT SERVICES)
Hi and thanks, I have two KWorld tuners at the moment and am managing to use
them with Microsoft Windows Media Centre. The dialog boxes on the setup wizard
don't work but you can guess your way through as the buttons seem to speak o.k.
The guide does work reasonably well as well when moving up and down and right
clicking to record a programme etc. The only additional option with the Compro
software apparently is the P4 power mode which allows the PC to be started
automatically to record a programme and then shut down after. It seems that
Microsoft Windows Media Centre doesn't work with the P4 power mode.

Hi, I am new to Windows 7 and have been trying unsuccessfully to get a working

to use their TV tuner and rent it from them, just as I have been doing with the

I'll let you know, if it works.

Has anyone tried any of the Compro devices for accessability please?
I am specifically interested in the Compro software which should
 support
P4 power up which apparently, Microsoft Windows Media Centre doesn't.

 Many thanks in anticipation,

I have made a few changes to the creating a message filter in Microsoft Outlook

Hello there;

If you have the jaws virtual ribbon feature on,
Then the shortcut keystrokes won't work.
Thus you need the ribbon feature turned off to use the navigational
shortcuts.

For example,
You asked about getting into the rules,
With the ribbon feature on, you navigate the menus,
With the feature turned off,
Alt+h/r/r.

Hope this helps.

This question was asked on David's Blind-Computing list. Can anyone help
 Susan out?!

 Hi everyone,
In attempting to tweak settings in Word 2007, I'm finding that JAWS no
longer reads the change of page when in navigation or say all mode. I
thought at first that this was a JAWS issue but now think there is a
weird Word setting. Any advice on fixing this problem much
appreciated. Most of what I found in microsoft help had to do with
headers and footers or table of contents, not quite what I'm trying to
do. Also, using the classic XP margins as a default with single line
spacing, in Word 2003 page length equalled 46 lines but I'm not seeing
those results in 2007. Any thoughts?

 Susan

My personal opinion is to take the time now to get used to the ribbon and
not use the JAWS virtual ribbon if you have a job where you are working with
other people who are using JAWS from the sighted perspective. In some cases
a co-worker can direct you in navigating the ribbon faster than you can find
another JAWS user who is using the virtual ribbon and can answer your
question. Of course choosing to use the JAWS virtual ribbon or not is a
personal decision and is dependent on your situation and needs.

To use a shortcut to get to the rules,

No need to do this, because,
You can create a rule from the inbox, using the applications key, Up arrow

Here are some steps I wrote for my email list;

Hello list members.
I have made a few changes to the creating a message filter in Microsoft
Outlook 20102007 Hopefully, you can follow the steps a little easier, and I
have removed a lot of the unnecessary text.

here's how I create a message rule/filter in Microsoft outlook2010.

First I create the folder,
By doing the following;
Ctrl+shift+e=create new folder.
Now type in the name you wish to assign to the folder.
Tab once you will hear;
Folder contains:
Mail and Post Items
This is okay, no need to change,
Now tab again,
You will hear something like;
Tree view, and then inbox, and all of the other folders are listed, So, I
arrow up to personal folders, or, you could press the letter p=personal
folders, And then tab to okay, press enter.
So now you're folder is created.
Next we need to assign a rule/filter to the newly created folder, By doing
the following;

1, highlight a message which you wish to create a folder for, Example; One
of the messages from this group.
email-clients-with-screen-read...@yahoogroups.com 2, press applications
key, up arrow and enter on, Rules sub-menu, Or, you could right arrow to
open.
Another way to do this is:
Press applications key, press the letter s
And then press the letter u, which will directly place you into the
message wizard.
Here you will see the following screen;

you now need to down arrow and enter on, create rule
Note, as I indicated, if you use the shortcuts, the letter su no need
to arrow anywhere, since you're in the message rule wizard.

substituting the word separator. I can't find where it is making the
substitution though. I've been grepping and reading through message

Jim,

Many software packages now use information from components in your
computer to assist in preventing piracy. So, even if you have an
authorization number, you can't just install on multiple computers. I
believe the JAWS locking code is tied to a bunch of serial numbers of
components of your computer. So, if you change out a few components, the
locking number becomes invalid for your installation, even though you have
authorization.

The guide does work reasonably well as well when moving up and down and

I am running Windows 7, and just upgraded to both IE 9 and JFW 13.

I am suddenly struggling to sign into bank of america and chase.com. I
never had an issue before, but now it seems that I enter my username,
select my state, this is on bank of america, and hit enter on the sign-in
button. I hear a page transition click, but nothing appears to happen.
I am still on the page asking for my username. It used to immediately
transition to the password page. It's making me a bit crazy today.
Anybody have any suggestions?

Other pages, such as my regular bank site seem to be fine, but the BOA
site is driving me to go pour a few fingers of scotch.

[JAWS-Users] Changing Jaws rate settings

2012-01-04 Thread Trish
I seem to have done something I can't seem to undo.

I changed my Jaws 13 rate globally or for all voices through the settings in
options, I then did the save as...but now I need to undo this action because
when I try to change the rate like on the fly or through the settings again
without doing the save as...it doesn't seem to take or not so I can tell.

So I am confused as to what to do here when that box pops up with the
eloquence as the choice and then there's this delete button, and from
reading the help on this issue first before writing to the list, it said I
should have a drop down list of items to remove, but I do not find this.
The only items are, the sappy thing, eloquence, and factory jaws eloquence,
I really need help here, because this slow speed is driving me crazy!

Thanks,
Trish

Cathie, someone on another list told me how to label the graphic for an
attachment so now JAWS does announce attachments for me. The latest build
of JAWS 13 also announces if a message is unread, although now that I
understand the graphics labeling routine, a person could label that if they
are not using the most recent version of JAWS.

FS Support doesn't know what they are talking about. I created a html
file

with nothing more than:

HTML
BODY
P
hello
HR
goodbye
/BODY
/HTML

And when I read down the page with the virtual cursor it said
separator when

it hit the Horizontal Rule. No cascading style sheets, no fancy
programming, just a simple HR tag.

Nope, only Home Premium and Win 7 Basic (for underpowered notebooks) works
with Home; Win Pro and Ultimate need Jaws Pro.

  Mike,

So, I've probably never even thought about the JAWS saying Separator thing
before. But since you mentioned it, it is now bothering me. Thanks a
  lot.

I've confirmed that JAWS is picking up the HTML tag, HR, and
substituting the word separator. I can't find where it is making the
substitution though. I've been grepping and reading through message
files, script files, dictionary files, no joy. I thought I found an index
of HTML tags and their spoken counter-parts, but HR wasn't one of them.

  So, the hunt continues.

Re: [JAWS-Users] go to meeting

2012-01-04 Thread Shari

Hi Larry,

I have had limited success with GoToMeeting. As part of my job, I have to
attend a variety of meetings and webinars run through the GoToMeeting site.
When I register, a link for the event is emailed which allows me to log in
and hear the event through my computer speakers. However, after accessing
the audio, I am not able to use any of the other features such as submitting
a question, indicating support for a discussion topic, etc. Because the
webinars are convened by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development, I raised the problem of the lack of accessability for full
participation in the webinar. Instead of putting pressure on GoToMeeting to
figure out how to make the site accessible, HUD gave me an email address
that is monitored during the events where I can submit questions.

I'm using Jaws 13, Windows 7 and IE 8.

Has any one been successful with either the Go-To-Meeting

I have either Windows xp-Pro or windows 7-Premium and a

Use control shift o
This will bring you to a multi page area including send, read, read/receipt,

It is more about FS trying to go the distance to prevent piracy of their
software, than monitoring your hardware. Lots of other software vendors,
Microsoft included, use hardware identification to lock software to a
particular machine.
