Re: [JAWS-Users] E-BOOK Readers
Jaws versions from v12 does indeed work for reading ebooks via the free mainstream adobe digital reader version 2.0, for .epub and pdf files. If one registers an Adobe ID, one can even authorise one's drm protected purchased books with the vendor ID within adobe digital reader and read them with jaws,, which I have tested, also said to work with Window eyes and NVDA. At the end of the getting started guide to be downloaded from the site, of which you'd have to google for the url, there is a list of shortcuts to work with windows and the Mac and also specifically for jaws. [JAWS-Users] Spell check
Hey Gang, I'm running XP, office 2003, jaws 13.638. When I check my spelling by f7, and there is a word that is right, but the dictionary says no, and I want to add it to my dictionary, but when I'm tabbing to add it that options isn't there. I've tried alt D, and alt A but no luck. How can I get it back in the tab line? I've looked in the options, but I don't see anything. I just did a spell-check in this email, and the option to add to the dictionary is there, but it isn't in my office 2003 word. Thanks for all the help you can give me. Re: [JAWS-Users] How to turn Jaws Back On
Hi As was sated, you can get to the run dialog by pressing Windows key+r. Or you can open the Windows 7 start menu, either with the Windows key or control+escape and you will be in the search box. Just type JAWS13. However, I have seen situations where you can restart JAWS, and it never starts to talk. You can check whether JAWS is running by going to the Windows Task Manager and looking at the Processes tab. Unfortunately, to do this takes another working screen reader or eyeball help. I have seen where it has been restarted, not talking, but shows as running in Task Manager. I don't know why this is, but suspect it has something to do with the video intercept. The only thing I know to do in this case is reboot. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Miriam Vieni Sent: Tuesday, October 09, 2012 06:44 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] How to turn Jaws Back On Hi, Jaws wasn't responding to certain commands so I wanted to turn it off and then start it again. [JAWS-Users] Multi-line rich text edit boxes.
Hello, I am attempting to use what is essentially a SharePoint form. I have no problem going through most of the form, using radio buttons, check boxes, and simple edit boxes. However, there are certain boxes that are multi-line edit boxes. When I tab into them, no label is announced, but I hear rich text edit box. I can type into the box no problem, but I can't seem to close the edit box. Hitting the plus key just says PC cursor, instead of closing the edit box and reverting to the virtual cursor. The only way to get out of it is to tab, but in one section of this form, that just tabs me to the next rich text edit box, and since there is no label associated with the edit box, I don't know what box I am in. If I can close the edit box, go back to the virtual cursor, I can arrow down the screen, hearing the heading that states the purpose of the next edit box, then press e, and vwa la I am in the next box. So, is there some magic key that I am missing that closes a multi-line edit box? -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Senior Oracle Database Administrator Carnegie Mellon University. [JAWS-Users] Using jaws13 with Nod32 smart security?
Hello listers, I've just recently downloaded Nod32 smart security antivirus. I used it some years ago and because of problems with another virus program, I wanted to try it out again. Now I'm noticing that nost of the program works with jaws13, however, I don't know if I can get to the interface, or maybe I have, and didn't know it. So if anyone out there is using this antivirus and know more than I do about getting around the program, I would truly appreciate some instructions tips, or whatever that will help me out. Re: [JAWS-Users] Multi-line rich text edit boxes.
Luckily, unloading JAWS each time I need to fill in an edit box is not necessary. I can tab out or reverse tab out of this series of boxes then arrow my way back down. Very clugy but I'd rather find a better solution. I've just tried messing around with custom labels, but when I label one of them, it labels all four boxes with the same label, which is not terribly useful. -- Blue skies. Re: [JAWS-Users] Multi-line rich text edit boxes.
another thing that would probably work would be to route jaws to pc cursor, and then hit the jaws cursor key twice fast for the invisible cursor, this way you can switch cursors, read the area where your at and see what box your in. the trouble is a ridge text box is not a regular html item but a microsoft item (your probably running into a site made with asp) and movement is by tabbing, but as you said that skips over the header. I think the invisible cursor is your best route. hth in the future, elf .
