[JAWS-Users] focusing on buttons

2013-03-12 Thread Karen Schrade
I've had a similar problem to the one Miriam is having. If I go to the ATT
website to check mail, every time I hit the link for spam, it takes me to
create a new folder. I can only get to the spam folder using the jaws
cursor. Then, to empty the spam folder, I have to go back to the jaws cursor
since, using the virtual cursor on empty the spam folder, it sends me to
the sent folder.

There are several other websites with buttons rather than links that give me
grief as well. It seems to be a focus thing since jaws reads a and I'm
really on b. karen

press enter or close the Run dialog without pressing enter? Just curious
because I know that there are lesser experienced Outlook users on this list

Andy, I just did was FS said to do, and it is fixed I think.

Here's what they said to do.

Windows key and R.

2. now type exactly as I say here. Outlook.exe /cleanviews

3. Close the windows run box.

4. Reopen the windows key R again, and type this. Outlook.exe /resetnavpane.

If I didn't screw this up, it should work for you. If my attempt to relay
this
right failed, FS can straighten it out. Jim

woe folks, slow down a little,

this may be what is needed but there are other items that can fix this
that
should be tried unless as Chris said, there is nothing of real importance
on

the computer.

it may take a tech to run them in safe mode but if anyone can get the
following files from the URL's given, put them on a thumb drive and then
run

them on the infected computer, they may well be able to clean the problem
out:

independent download anti-virus hunt and kill files:

download these, on another computer if necessary put them on a thumb drive
and run them. each is updated quite often so new downloads are necessary
to

make sure there up to date.

1. McAfee Stinger
download latest version from:
http://www.mcafee.com/apps/free-tools/termsofuse.aspx?url=/us/downloads/free
-tools/stinger.aspx
* note, if the URL runs onto two lines for you it has been broken by the
mail client, you need to copy the whole thing out, take out the blank
spot

in the address and then paste it into a internet browser .

2. Microsoft Safety Scanner:

And if it won't boot to safe mode, he has a decision to make. If he has
stuff on it he can't live without, find a tech to pull the stuff off and
do a factory restore. If he doesn't care about anything on it, just do
a factory restore, usually buried under the f8 menu, or sometimes under
f10 or another key, any of those options must be chosen as soon as the
pc is powered up. Usually after the first good infection, there isn't
any saving it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] focusing on buttons

2013-03-12 Thread Lisa belville
Oh, I feel better, I thought it was just me and my antiquated JAWS 10 using
IE 8. This is particularly bad on the schwans.com site, and sometimes even
bringing up a list of links and pressing enter to activate the link that way
doesn't solve the issue. If I try moving to the link instead, the cursor is
actually one or two lines above the link, which explains why I was always
going to other parts of the site totally unrelated to what I was clicking
on. I usually refresh the screen and then move the virtual cursor right to
the place where the link starts and then either left click or press enter.
it's still hit and miss, though.

Honestly, the only way to avoid this is to use another screen reader which
won't be mentioned.

I find the same experience. I to use the link list JawsKey+F7 to get focus
to the link I am trying to activate otherwise it it really hit and miss.

Yup, it has been doing that since at least Jaws 13. Very frustrating.

You need to go into the links list to make sure it focuses correctly.

I have noticed focus issues on web pages with the last few versions of
JAWS. You click on a link or control, only to see that another link or
control was activated, or nothing happens at all.

I've had a similar problem to the one Miriam is having. If I go to the
ATT website to check mail, every time I hit the link for spam, it
takes me to create a new folder. I can only get to the spam folder
using the jaws cursor. Then, to empty the spam folder, I have to go back
to the jaws cursor since, using the virtual cursor on empty the spam
folder, it sends me to the sent folder.

There are several other websites with buttons rather than links that
give me grief as well. It seems to be a focus thing since jaws reads a
and I'm really on b. karen

  Hi Everyone,

Recently, I posted to the list about problems that I was having with
IE10 instability. As it turns out, the problem was not IE10. It
  was my
router.
Unknown to me at the time, my wife, who was using IE9 on a
 different machine
on the same network, had begun to have the same problems with
instability that I was having. When I found out about her problems,
I decided to replace the router just to see if that would fix the
problem. It did. I replaced the router two days ago and have had
  no problems at all
 sense then.
I just wanted to let everyone know because I wouldn't want someone
who had seen my previous posts on this subject to look unfavorably
  upon
 upgrading to
Win 8 or IE10 because of incorrect information that I had posted.

  Thanks,

2013-03-12 Thread Greg Wocher

Hello,
I have had strange issues with VLC. For instance when I press control
plus down arrow to lower volume it minimizes the program and takes me to
the desktop. This even occurs when going to the menus and trying to
decrease the volume. I finally gave up and installed Real Media Player
and it seems to be doing what I need ok.

NOT the right Windows key. the Applications Key; or, if you don't have
one, then press shift+F10, or the right-mouse key on the keypad or the

different size packets sent. This is quick. It runs just after
loading the page and shows the result right near the top without any
