Re: [JAWS-Users] System restore dates removal
Another way in Windows 7, is to open the start menu, and start typing Disk Cleanup When it opens, you just select the drive from the list, and tab to the okay button. This is an extra step compared to running the utility from the properties of the drive in computer. Additionally, you can see how many restore points, or shadow copies have been saved by doing the following: From the start menuu, in the search box, start typing device manager When the device manager opens, tab once to the tree-view of devices. Open the view menu, and arrow to show hidden devices, and press enter. Now, press the letter S, until you come to: storage volume shadow copies Open this with right arrow, and you will find a list of restore points. They will be listed as generic volume shadow copy. Pressing enter on any of these, will open the properties and from the details tab, and you can view information about the selected restore point. There will be a list of about 42 items, and moving to the installed date, you can see when the restore point was made. The method I first described, would be the preferred one, and part of routine maintenance. Re: [JAWS-Users] Fw: How to find internet explorer information bar
The fact is the ladies' post was held for moderation for some reason or another and as such did not get posted until one of us myself in this case approved it. Yes normally messages are posted rather quickly when they are not held by the server for approval. In this case it had to wait before being allowed to proceed on to the list. This is the case for all new members or whenever a person changes their email address as they are then treated as a new member. I believe most of you would agree this is a better practice then leaving the list wide open so that some shall we say less than reputable person could subscribe post some off color statement without the worry of being blocked. Trust me we have seen our share of such things come across our collective desks but you the membership are protected from such things. It makes more work for us up front but in the long run I believe it has solved more problems than it has caused. I am sad to say though it is catching up with me after running one list or another for over 8 and a half years I am strongly considering hanging it up. We'll go for a little while yet but unfortunately for all of us the time is coming. I know many of you benefit from what comes across here myself very much included, and there is a definite need for such a group. Never the less that is probably more information than any of you wanted to hear so early in the morning but you were all wondering if blind computing was out of business and the rest of this message just seemed to flow out of my fingers without my planning it. [JAWS-Users] cleaning old restore points
Wow! wow! and wow, Rick thanks for the tip. It took over 5 minutes for the old ones to be deleted. I followed up with a total system backup. The new compressed backup is 45 meg the previous total backup was 86 meg. I do believe that the computer also booted a little faster as well. --- Please visit my home page, it is motivational, educational, inspirational with a touch of humor. [JAWS-Users] how can i update adobe flash player, firefox, and windows?
Hi list members, I'd like to know how can I update adobe flash player? I ask this question because I'm using Firefox, and I seem to be having a problem when I go to adobe site for the flash player update. I'm greeted with check marks for items that I don't want but my question is how do I take the check marks out while still downloading the adobe flash player? I also am having a problem with downloading Microsoft windows critical updates. I want to make sure that I download the latest updates not something that is old and out of date? My question is how do I do this using jaws 11? I guess that Firefox also has another update but I'm not sure how to download that as well. If you download Adobe Flash player with Firefox, to get rid of the check marks, just uncheck the boxes that show up by pressing the space bing. I had the same problem when I downloaded Firefox and adobe flash player but I had to uninstall Firefox because it was doing weird things. I ended up calling FS. I was hoping that would be a last resort as I didn't want to spend 40 minutes on hold, while my demo activation timed out. I only waited a few minutes on hold. They didn't grill me. And, they sent it in an email within seconds. Seems like it would be easier to just authenticate myself with my serial number and email on file, rather than tie up a human. [JAWS-Users] Line Spacing in Word 2010
Hi Everyone, A couple months ago, I got a new laptop and, as my Office 2003 authorizations had run out, I switched to Office 2010. I have most of the differences figured out but one thing in particular puzzles me. In Word 2010, in a new document, I cannot fit as many lines on a single page as I could with Word 2003, even when using the same margins and using the same or smaller font. The only thing I can figure is that the line spacing is different. I have figured out how to set the line spacing but the semantics are not exactly comparable between the two versions. In Word 2003, you have options of single, 1.5 lines, double, etcetera. In Word 2010, you have options of 1.0, 1.15, 1.5, 2.0, etcetera. I would assume that double in Word 2003 is the same as 2.0 in Word 2010 and that single in Word 2003 is the same as 1.0 in Word 2010. Apparently I am not understanding something correctly or that I am missing something entirely. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Re: [JAWS-Users] Line Spacing in Word 2010
I am not sure but it could be your 2003 is inches and the default for 2010 is metric. Can't think how to change the default from metric to inches. Maybe some one else can chime in here. Re: [JAWS-Users] Authorization number.
Freedom Scientific has been good about it, so far. I am probably going to have to contact them soon, as I am in the process of upgrading Pcs. But, what worries me is if they ever cease being a commercial entity, we'll all have a bunch of boat anchors. There was a guy who just got out of the blind software business and unless you paid for his special key generator program, you're out of luck if you ever need to reactivate. Re: [JAWS-Users] Line Spacing in Word 2010
How about taking a look at your paragraph options? I think one difference that might account for some differences is if you have your paragraph options set to generate an extra line between paragraphs, and you might not have had it that way in Word 2003. Other things that could affect the amount of words you get on a page could be whether you are using the same font style and size, whether you have full or left justification, etc. - Original Message - From: Bissett, Tom tom.biss...@bmo.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, May 16, 2013 4:22 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Line Spacing in Word 2010 I am not sure but it could be your 2003 is inches and the default for 2010 is metric. Re: [JAWS-Users] Line Spacing in Word 2010
In the back of my head I remember something about Word 2007 and 2010 automatically adding additional white space between paragraphs. It might have something to do with a particular style. It was something that was only apparent when viewing the document in Print view, and when you are actually printing. JAWS does not give you any indication that there is extra white space between paragraphs. [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Word with too much verbage.
Hi all, I have XP home and 14.0. Recently, I opened a document in microsoft word to modify it. Instead of hearing blank for blank lines, I heard paragraph mark. My sighted wife said the document had dash marks and other symbols showing, that did not seem to be in that document in the past. Could I have altered the settings somewhere? and how can I fix it? Thanks so much for any help. Rich For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Go to page layout and paragraph. Make sure before and after is .0. On spacing, select single. Then check the gox that says something like don't add space between paragraphs of the same style. Of course, I always highlight the whole document before I go to page layout and paragraph-Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Annette Carr Sent: Thursday, May 16, 2013 7:57 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Line Spacing in Word 2010 In the back of my head I remember something about Word 2007 and 2010 automatically adding additional white space between paragraphs.
