does the tablets have dictation functions?
Just a thought as means of keeping notes, etc. without using an external
keyboard, unless you don't use the keyboard built into the tablet?
I am just thinking the tablet has that cabability as in something else?

Well, I just dug out my very old type and speak, purchased 1985. I have not
used it in about 9 years. It turns on but totally messed up. I need
something for some meetings. I just learned that wal-mart has a lap top with
a full size keyboard for $300. With the full size keyboard will jaws work as
does my desktop? I really do not want to learn a new keyboard. It will be
used one or two times a month.
Or would the tablet with a full size Bluetooth keyboard be better. I have
office 2010 with one install remaining.
The laptop has win 8, 4gb, 500 gbhd. I like it because it has nothing
installed.

I just recently found a program called Win driver expert, and
since it's
free to distribute I'm going to post it on the server most likely
tomorrow.

I haven't done an audio tutorial for quite some time because
nothing has
crossed my desk I found interesting enough until now. I believe
I will start
work on a recording this week as well if time permits as it will
be a short

It pulls out all non-Microsoft drivers which is all you really
need and save
them to their own directories. It is not as elegant as say
Driver Magician
but it is free so the price is right for anybody who can't afford
the more
expensive alternative.

Don,
When I'm syncing my IPod 5th Generation, if I tab along, there is
a section
in ITunes which indicates the completion of the project by
listing the
percentages. "46% completed" The display is similar to the one
given which

shows how much of a disk burn has been completed.
That only works with ITunes in the most recent builds however.
If your IPod

has IOS 7, you should be able to find that information.
However, if you are using an older IPod like Version 3, the
information is

not available in the same way.

With iTunes and an iPhone, the status is shown if you tab and
then just sit
on that field when you find it. It only takes from a few to
perhaps 20-30
seconds then and then you will hear the familiar iTunes sound
indicating

completion.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Selecting to the start or end

2014-09-29 Thread David Bailes
Hi,
just to add that there is in fact a third difference, which I probably didn't
make clear:
3. If the initial item is unselected, then if there are any selected items
between that item and the end of the list and you press ctrl+shift+end, then
the focus moves to the end of the list, and those items are deselected.
(Shift+end selects from the item to the end of the list.)

David.

Hi Kimsan,
thanks for raising the fact that ctrl+shift+home/end works in a list. It made
me go back to microsoft's documentation to check it out.
The brief answer is that in most cases you can use either shift+home/end or
ctrl+shift+home/end. However, there are some minor differences between these
two keystrokes:
1. Perhaps the most important difference is for shift+home, or end or up/down
arrows, whether or not the initial item is selected has no effect on the
outcome. For example if the first item in a list is the focus, then whether or
not this item is selected, if you press shift+end, then this selects all the
items in the list. If the first item is unselected and you press
ctrl+shift+end,
then the focus moves to the last item, but the selection of no items are
changed.
2. If you're someway down the list then after pressing shift+end, the items to
the end of the list are selected, and the remaining items are unselected, even
if they where selected before pressing shift+end. This isn't the case when
pressing ctrl+shift+end. (but see the link below - you need to know where the
anchor is to work out exactly what will happen).
