Re: [JAWS-Users] excel basics

2014-10-06 Thread Mike Boyd

Here's the thing, although you have the
2010 version of the Office Suite, the file version for Excel might be 14.X
or something else. They do not necessarily relate. I am running Windows Live
Essentials 2012, but the file version for Windows Live Mail is 14.X as well.
So, you cannot judge by that.

I have word fourteen point something. But I thought that it was offece ten.
I have never updated it to my knowledge . However, when I do a jaws key plus
ctrl V it reports back that it is fourteen point something. What do you
think, what do I have? Do I have the office ten that I loaded on this
computer a couple of years ago or the office fourteen that I never paid for
or downloaded? Here's the thing. When I go to the start button and choose
to open MS word it teles me that I am opening word ten. It has me all
confused. LeDon.

Yes, the web page www.office.com/training has links to training for all of
the Office apps. If you need the 2010 version however, you may have to do a
web search to get the exact page that you need. Since MS is now promoting
Office 2013, the links on the Office.com page will direct you to training
for 2013. Just do a search for Microsoft training for Word 2010. This
should get you what you are looking for.

Here you go Lenny,

Try out these links. The first one has the option to either download
tutorials or to watch them online. The second one is a good explanation of
the Ribbon tabs, to learn these however, you will have to take the
information from this tutorial and then check out what is in each ribbon tab
yourself.

Which version of Excel are you using? There is quite a bit of training to be

Hi Mario,

You don't need to run a repair, just run the newer build / version after you
download it using the link below:

http://files.freedomscientific.com/WebFiles/JAWS/J14.0.9002ENU-64bit.exe

The J14.0.6005 isn't available from the Freedom Scientific website, just the

[JAWS-Users] JAWS and braille display not communicating (urgent)!

2014-10-06 Thread Hrvoje Katić

Hi everyone,
I'm a new member on this list, and I'm speaking in the name of a person
who is using braille display with JAWS at his workplace. The situation
is serious and any feedback is urgent, so please try to help as much as
You can. He's using Windows 7 64-bit, JAWS 15, and Baum Pronto 40
braille display/notetaker.
The problem is, Braille Display is not detected even when drivers are
installed for both display and JAWS! It also doesn't work with other
screen readers.

Here's what I've tried so far and it didn't work:
1. I've downloaded official drivers from baum's website.
2. I've connected braille display into the computer and I switched from
notetaker to computer mode.
3. In addition to the official Baum drivers, I've also tried all
built-in JAWS Baum drivers, and none of them worked. The problem is that
even no errors were displayed.

4. I downgraded to JAWS 14, and still not working.
5. I've tried bluetooth connection instead of USB. Paring was
successfull, but display wasn't detected by JAWS.
6. The display even wasn't detected by other screen readers, but
according to Windows, the driver is installed correctly.
So, what can be the problem? May be 64-bit Windows incompatible with
Baum Pronto, or Pronto's firmware to old. The Baum manual says that the
JAWS version must be 10 or greater, and it certainly is.
If you have any tips, please share. Just to mention again that the
person is using this braille display for work and not for private usage.

Thanks in advance,
Hrvoje

Hello,
Latest Jaws 15 and Windows 8-64.
I just installed Tiny PDF, but I am not shure how to use it. As I understand
it, it is supposed to convert word files into PDF files.
Please, would some one tell me how to do it?
When I open tiny PDF I get a menue of printers, being the first ‘send to
Onenote’. Do I need a printer to use Tiny PDF?
Thank you in advance.

[JAWS-Users] Laptop equivalent keys

2014-10-06 Thread Alan Robbins
Ok, using JAWS on my Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet with Logitech K810
wireless keyboard. I have found on the JAWS site most of the
keystrokes on a laptop layout I was used to with a full size keyboard.
Here is where I'm stuck. The Logitech keyboard does not have a page
up, page down, end or home key. How do you invoke various jaws
commands and tasks without these keys?

Thanks,

Al

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and braille display not communicating (urgent)!

2014-10-06 Thread Brian Lee
Go into the JAWS interface window and into the utilities menu. Open the
Synthesizer and Braille Manager. Use the button for add, remove or change
devices. Pick the Braille Displays radio button and use the Next button. In
the resulting list check the Baum Pronto Braille display by using down arrow
key to it and pressing spacebar to check it. Use the Next button. If asked
for a port to use make the appropriate choice. When finished adding the
display you can use the Braille menu item in the Options menu of JAWS to modify
settings. You will need to unload JAWS and start it again with the Braille
display turned on and connected before changes will take affect. I hope it
works for you! Take care.

Here's what I've tried so far and it didn't work:

 2. I've connected braille display into the computer and I switched from

 3. In addition to the official Baum drivers, I've also tried all built-in

 4. I downgraded to JAWS 14, and still not working.
 5. I've tried bluetooth connection instead of USB. Paring was successfull,

 6. The display even wasn't detected by other screen readers, but according to

So, what can be the problem? May be 64-bit Windows incompatible with Baum

Hello LeDon The way you move between panes in Word is by using function key 6.
Repeatedly pressing that key moves focus between the ribbon, status bar,
search pane, main document and any other panes that are opened. If you use
CTRL with F to bring up the Find and Replace dialog box, type in what you are
wanting to find and press enter key, you should be taken to the first result in
a document. Press escape key at that poin if you are using this dialog box to
go back into the main document. Use CTRL with pgdn to find subsequent results
going down through a document or CTRL with PGUP to find previous results.
Take care.

Hi Mike,
Thank yoou for yoour reply.

I followed the steps, but the tinypdf printer does not appear in the list.
These are the printer in the list, send to onenote 2013, fax, HP18A4B0 (HP
Deskjet 3050 J610 series), and Microsoft XPS Document Writer.
If I press altn to bring the combobox, what I get is new
I also tried running the install tinypdf printer through programfiles (86),
but nothing happens.
Any more ideas?

Teresa Arroyo

HI Teresa,

Here you go:
1. Open the document you want to convert to a PDF file.
2. With the document open press, control + P, to open the print dialogue.
3. Tab to, Printer Name combobox, arrow down to Tiny PDF. Arrow down
slowly, it might take a few seconds for the list to populate.
Note: After pressing, control + P, to open the print dialogue, if you press,
Alt + N, this keystroke will take you to the Printer Name combobox.
4. With, Tiny PDF, highlighted in the Printer Name combobox, tab to the,
Okay button, press enter.
5. You will now get a, Save As, dialogue so tab through save the PDF file
where you would like.

Take care.

Hello,
Latest Jaws 15 and Windows 8-64.
Regards,

Teresa Arroyo

On my laptop I use the function key plus left cursor for home, function plus
right cursor for end, function plus up cursor for page up, and function plus

This may be the same for you.

Ok, using JAWS on my Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet with Logitech K810 wireless
keyboard. I have found on the JAWS site most of the keystrokes on a laptop
layout I was used to with a full size keyboard.
Here is where I'm stuck. The Logitech keyboard does not have a page up, page
down, end or home key. How do you invoke various jaws commands and tasks
without these keys?

Thanks,

Al

[JAWS-Users] Trend Micro

2014-10-06 Thread wayne smith
Hello-

I was an enthusiastic Trend Micro Security user until they came out with
Platinum and it became totally inaccessible. Are there any Trend Micro
users out there who have been able to work with the program with JAWS? It's
one of the best anti-virus programs and I would love to have it back.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Wayne

Does you wireless keyboard have a num pad on it? If it does, then with the
num lock turned off, Page up is the 9 key, Page down is the 3 key, Home is
the 7 key, and End is the 1 key. If the keyboard does not have the num pad,
then I don't know.
