[JAWS-Users] Jaws accessible DVD playback software for Windows 10
Hello everyone, I am looking for some DVD playback software that I can use on my computer after having installed Windows 10. Frankly, I prefer something free, but would not mind spending a little on something that works. I have installed the latest version of VLC Media Player, which says it is Windows 10 compatible, but I cannot seem to get past the theme music of any given movie. I have exhausted my ideas of how to make the software move on and sactually start playing the video itself. Any and all suggestions will be very appreciated. Thanks for your help. Re: [JAWS-Users] New recordings using Jaws with various programs
Excellent work, Jim. I'd like to suggest a possible change to the way you are recording which will improve the quality of the sound. There are audio mixers available which would allow you to send the signal from your PC and your voice into a hard wired connection. In doing so, the recording software would have a much cleaner signal to process. This is in no way a criticism. Your work and delivery is top notch. I'm a professional musician and for me, getting the best sound available is important. If you'd like to try this suggestion, please e-mail me off list and I can research what is currently available for you. Keep up the good work. [JAWS-Users] THE FN KEY ON AN HP COMPUTER
Jawes doesn't recognize or speak this key because, as noted in previous messages, it has no recognizable function. However, when used with the function keys, it will allow the user to activate certain original functionality. It acts like a Shift key. In a standard HP laptop, the key is pressed in combination with the function keys. When that happens, Jaws will announce the function such as Refresh, Windows Active List, System Tray, etc. Without that FN key, those keys are programmed to activate other Windows based functions. When that happens, Jaws may or may not react to the change initiated. Certainly, if a key is pressed and new information appears on the screen, Jaws will respond as normal by attempting to speak parts of the new data displayed. One problem I have, and game day audio is the only site it happens on, is that I'll sometimes get a message when I click on a game that Internet Explorer has quit working and windows is looking for a solution to the problem. Just to make sure we are on the same page, this is what I did just now. VLC, works in w-10. here is what I did. Go to Ninite.com. Under media heading, check, VLC media player. Go to, get installer button, press enter. Press ALT+n, tab to run, press enter. After the program is set up and installed. Press Windows key+I, press enter on System. Go down to, default apps, tab to dvd, press spacebar on whatever is the default, tab to VLC media player, press spacebar to make it the default dvd player. Put a DVD in your computer. Press enter on this PC icon on your desktop. Go down to your DVD drive, which should say the title of your DVD movie in the drive. Press the application key. Go down to play with VLC player, press enter. You will hear the music start playing, wait a few seconds, Press the enter key to start the movie. While the movie is playing. Press the ALT key by itself. Right arrow one time to playback menu. Down arrow and look at all the selections you have. Play/pause, stop, next chapter, previous chapter. All these work. On the main screen, S, for stop, works, P, for play, will start the movie over, after hearing the music, Press enter, to start the movie. Overall, works like it did on w-7. I hope this helps... Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws accessible DVD playback software for Windows 10
Hi Mike, It sounds like you did not press the enter key after hearing the opening music, also, set VLC to your default DVD player. Also, according to PC world, the Windows DVD media player built into w-10, will work in the future, Microsoft is still working on it. -Original Message- From: Mike Sent: Tuesday, September 08, 2015 5:32 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws accessible DVD playback software for Windows 10 Hello everyone, I am looking for some DVD playback software that I can use on my computer after having installed Windows 10.
