[JAWS-Users] Jaws accessible DVD playback software for Windows 10

2015-09-08 Thread Mike
Hello everyone,

I am looking for some DVD playback software that I can use on my computer after
having installed Windows 10. Frankly, I prefer something free, but would not
mind spending a little on something that works. I have installed the latest
version of VLC Media Player, which says it is Windows 10 compatible, but I
cannot seem to get past the theme music of any given movie. I have exhausted my
ideas of how to make the software move on and sactually start playing the video
itself. Any and all suggestions will be very appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] New recordings using Jaws with various programs

2015-09-08 Thread John Justice
Excellent work, Jim.
I'd like to suggest a possible change to the way you are recording which
will improve the quality of the sound.
There are audio mixers available which would allow you to send the signal
from your PC and your voice into a hard wired connection. In doing so, the
recording software would have a much cleaner signal to process.

This is in no way a criticism. Your work and delivery is top notch.
I'm a professional musician and for me, getting the best sound available is
important.
If you'd like to try this suggestion, please e-mail me off list and I can
research what is currently available for you.
Keep up the good work.

[JAWS-Users] THE FN KEY ON AN HP COMPUTER

2015-09-08 Thread John Justice
Jawes doesn't recognize or speak this key because, as noted in previous
messages, it has no recognizable function. However, when used with the
function keys, it will allow the user to activate certain original
functionality. It acts like a Shift key.

In a standard HP laptop, the key is pressed in combination with the
function keys. When that happens, Jaws will announce the function such as
Refresh, Windows Active List, System Tray, etc.

Without that FN key, those keys are programmed to activate other Windows
based functions. When that happens, Jaws may or may not react to the change
initiated. Certainly, if a key is pressed and new information appears on
the screen, Jaws will respond as normal by attempting to speak parts of the
new data displayed.

Try the following:
1. Open the start menu/ Programs, & press enter on Accessories.
2. Arrow to system tools & press enter.
3. Arrow to system restore & press enter. You're now in system restore.
4. Route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor, down arrow to, Choose a different

restore point radio button not checked, use your left mouse click simulation
keystroke, to check this radio button. You may have to use, insert + left
arrow, to get to where Jaws reports unchecked. Then do the left mouse
simulation
keystroke to check it & go back to your PC cursor.
5. Tab to, next, press the spacebar, & you should now be in a larger list of
restore points to choose from.

To access your Windows7 Restore Points quickly press the Windows Key + R,
for the run dialogue & type the following into the Run Dialogue;

rstrui

& press enter. Now, follow steps 4 & 5 from above.

Mike,

It is now the way of finding items you require to bring up in Windows, so
you will find it quicker (and more efficient), for locating things like
Control Panel. I'm thinking that why FS brought it onboard within JAWS'
utilities etc. I also suspect many new Windows users will find it easier (as
they will know of no other way!)

Mike,

Why not use the Search Edit Box in the Default Settings Center? ITyping
Insedrt, Insert Key Mode is the first result that comes up. Then if you have
to, press F6 if you want to go into Users, etc. where you can play around if
you like.

Hi Dave,

Try the following to turn the Insert Key Mode on / off. This only works in
the Settings Center Default All Applications.
1. Open the Settings Center in either of these 2 ways.
A. Press, Insert / Jaws Key + 6, on the number row above the main keyboard.
B. Press, Insert / Jaws Key + F2, to open the, Jaws Manager, arrow down,
Settings Center, & press enter.
With the Settings Center open press, control, shift , + D, to open the
Settings Center Default All Applications.
2. Arrow down to, Users, right arrow to open.
3. Arrow down to, Insert Key Mode, to check or uncheck this box. Here's the
explanation of this option:
When selected, the INSERT key functions as a sticky key. Any key pressed
immediately after pressing the INSERT key is treated as if it were pressed
in combination with the INSERT key. This check box is cleared by default.

Take care.

Not sure I understand that. Are you referring to the Insert key being a

the Insert key, otherwise?

Then all you have to do is press the insert key, and let up, and press the

Excellent work, Jim.
I'd like to suggest a possible change to the way you are recording which
will improve the quality of the sound.
There are audio mixers available which would allow you to send the signal
from your PC and your voice into a hard wired connection. In doing so, the
recording software would have a much cleaner signal to process.

This is in no way a criticism. Your work and delivery is top notch.
I'm a professional musician and for me, getting the best sound available is
important.
If you'd like to try this suggestion, please e-mail me off list and I can
research what is currently available for you.

Hi Fred,

Try the following:
1. Open the start menu/ Programs, & press enter on Accessories.
2. Arrow to system tools & press enter.
3. Arrow to system restore & press enter. You're now in system restore.
4. Route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor, down arrow to, Choose a different
restore point radio button not checked, use your left mouse click simulation
keystroke, to check this radio button. You may have to use, insert + left
arrow, to get to where Jaws reports unchecked. Then do the left mouse
simulation keystroke to check it & go back to your PC cursor.
5. Tab to, next, press the spacebar, & you should now be in a larger list of
restore points to choose from.

To access your Windows7 Restore Points quickly press the Windows Key + R,
for the run dialogue & type the following into the Run Dialogue;

rstrui

& press enter. Now, follow steps 4 & 5 from above.

Take care.

Hello everyone,

I am looking for some DVD playback software that I can use on my computer
after having installed Windows 10. Frankly, I prefer something free, but
would not mind spending a little on something that works. I have installed
the latest version of VLC Media Player, which says it is Windows 10
compatible, but I cannot seem to get past the theme music of any given
movie. I have exhausted my ideas of how to make the software move on and
sactually start playing the video itself. Any and all suggestions will be
very appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws accessible DVD playback software for Windows 10

Hello everyone,

I am looking for some DVD playback software that I can use on my computer
after having installed Windows 10. Frankly, I prefer something free, but
would not mind spending a little on something that works. I have installed
the latest version of VLC Media Player, which says it is Windows 10
compatible, but I cannot seem to get past the theme music of any given
movie. I have exhausted my ideas of how to make the software move on and
sactually start playing the video itself. Any and all suggestions will be
very appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Jim, I used Mcafee some time ago and it wasn't very jaws compatible, has
that changed? It seemed to be a good protection at the time but not jaws
compatible.

Hi Jim,

Thank you very much for these tutorials. I'll get to use them once I update
to Win10. Also, I downloaded your recordings without having to sign into
anything. I don't have a Microsoft account, to my knowledge anyways! LOL

Thanks again.

I heard that defender is suitable because microsoft upgraded defender, I
haven't come across any problems with viruses or ad ware. although I only
surf facebook and do email and if I
go further on the net I do not surf those unknown sites which are likely to
give your computer a virus! just my opinion on the subject!
