[JAWS-Users] accessibility for screen readers

2015-12-27 Thread leonard morris
The Washington Post webpages have a link called accessibility for screen
readers. This removes many of the pictures and unrelated grapphics and
links to make the article much more screen reader friendly. Is there a
program that can turn a webpage into an accessible screen reader page
like what the Washington Post has available?

[JAWS-Users] Editing Profile on Face book (Work History and Education )

2015-12-27 Thread Bill Tipton (ML)
Hello,
How can I edit my work history and education in my Facebook (FB) Profile using
JAWS 17, Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7?

FYI: I need to change my employer's name and I noticed a typo in one of the
schools I attended that need to be updated.
Second question: Once I make these changes will all my FB friends be notified?
Thank you,

Re: [JAWS-Users] Managing Twitter Followers

They both give me hardships using windows 10, even when I was using 8.1.
First, the qube never launched, even in compatibility mode, and tw blue does
not launch from the desktop icon even when I run it as administrator. The
only way to get tw blue to launch is to click the .exe file in the programs
file folder.
Can you send me a link to the qube so I can try it one more time?
Thanks.

I've downbloaded the Palms Gourmet Deli PDF linked to by Freedom Scientific

and, forty-five minutes later and counting, I'm still waiting for the OCR

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows 10 crashes; safe mode & restore?

Hello Gang:

I have a windows 10 laptop that has been working fine for almost two
months. Yesterday, right after jaws came up, I heard a question
similar to:

"Hello, how do you like this picture. We will be sending you more, et
cetra." Even though I do not sign in with a password, I was able to
find the
sign in button, and struck the space bar. However, the computer
crashed. as
in shut down. I thought it was automatically re-starting, for some
unknown

reason. Did a forced re-start. Heard similar info. Found sign in button.
Space bar. Computer shut down.

One of the times, I heard something about starting in the locked mode.

Now, the computer starts normally, as it pertains to the sound and
humming.

However, there is no sound. Not even the windows start up sound. The
computer automatically shuts down in about a minute and half, after I
press

the start button.

Without sighted help how do I get it to start in safe mode? Since
narrator

has been so good in windows 10, will it allow me to do a system restore?

Sighted help might arrive, sometime tomorrow. But, I was just
wondering if

I could do it using jaws and narrator.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas. He is The Reason for the season.

Neil

Re: [JAWS-Users] accessibility for screen readers

2015-12-27 Thread Jim Pursley
I think that The Post defaults to a printable page when the
accessibility link is clicked. The New York Times has no such link but
you can get accessibility by clicking View Mobile Site. I'm not aware of
an accessibility philosopher's stone, though, beyond specific
accessibility links, mobile sites or printfriendly.com. The latter is a
great resource for reading or saving web pages in a format that omits
links, tweets, etc. Printfriendly also creates pdf's from their print
output. Getting the printfriendly tool on a browser is a bit of a drag
(literally...drag and drop by mouse) but the ite has a form field where
you can copy a web page url and print from there. All good stuff.
Speaking of accessibility, anyone know of a good translation tool? I
find Bing and Google problematic for JAWS.

The Washington Post webpages have a link called accessibility for
screen readers. This removes many of the pictures and unrelated
grapphics and links to make the article much more screen reader
friendly. Is there a program that can turn a webpage into an
accessible screen reader page like what the Washington Post has
available?
