Re: [JAWS-Users] Editing Profile on Face book (Work History and Education )

2015-12-28 Thread Bill Tipton (ML)
Thank you Helga.
This should help; plus I will also try on my iPhone with Voice Over.
FYI I did go to my profile and could see how to add new employers but found no
way to edit the name of my existing employer ,but
your tip about pressing the space key on the employer name might cause Facebook
to pop up a window to allow me to edit that name.

Thank you very much.

Hi Bill. This is Helga. How are you? I don't have JAWS 17, but I use JAWS 14
running Windows 8.1. Have you tried on going to the
profile link on your Facebook, and then tabing until you find your
information, and then just delete or replace your information? Or
maybe you can just press space bar in order to turn on the edit field so that
you can write The information that you want. And
regarding your second question, yes I think your FB friends will get a
notification saying Bill updated his profile or something
like that if I'm not mistaken. Or if you have an iPhone, you can also go to
your profile info on th e Facebook app,and do it that
way. Hope this helps!! I look forward in hearing from you soon. Thanks and God
bless!!

Hi Kimsan and All,

Here's a useful tip that I picked up while trying to solve this not-running
problem, which may also apply to TheQube, etc, (although I don't have that
program on this machine at the moment). After you've set the Run as Admin,
which you're required to do anyway: Then go into the shortcut page - the
desktop shortcut will do for this - and activvate the Advanced Properties
button; and then CHECK the CHECKBOX "always run as administrator". OK the
change. So that from this point whenever you launch TW Blue, by default you
will meet with the User Account dialogue, at whichj you press alt-y. Now
right-arrow to open the Tree View (if you're using TW Blue's window) and
choose your buffer. That's that problem solved. I hope that also applies to
Windows10.

They both give me hardships using windows 10, even when I was using 8.1.
First, the qube never launched, even in compatibility mode, and tw blue does
not launch from the desktop icon even when I run it as administrator. The
only way to get tw blue to launch is to click the .exe file in the programs
file folder.
Can you send me a link to the qube so I can try it one more time?
Thanks.

You can do all of these things in TW Blue as well, with or without a window.

You've a choice of keymaps, Qwitter (the old Qube) being one. Very
accessible with JAWS, naturally.

Hi,
I use The Qube.
I like it better than TW Blue, because you drive it with key board commands
and there is no window to mess with on your computer. It runs totally in the
back ground, and you can use it no matter what other window you are in. It
has buffers for followers, friends, and you can create a buffer for each
person's timeline you are following or is following you. Holding down
windows and ctrl and pressing a letter or symbol controls the Qube. Take
care and have a great Christmas.

Re: [JAWS-Users] disable quick start in win 10

2015-12-28 Thread David Moore

Hi Al,
One reason is because if you are running a program in demo version, the
quick start will not set the timer back so you can use for another 40
minutes. Another reason, is the quick start is why people are not hearing a
sound when they shut their computer off or turn it back on. Also, the
quick start does not shut the computer totally down, so it is not the same
as a complete shut down. I do not like the quick start for all of these
reasons. Have a great one, Al.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows 10 crashes; safe mode & restore?

Hello Gang:

I have a windows 10 laptop that has been working fine for almost two
months. Yesterday, right after jaws came up, I heard a question
similar to:

"Hello, how do you like this picture. We will be sending you more, et
cetra." Even though I do not sign in with a password, I was able to
find the
sign in button, and struck the space bar. However, the computer
crashed. as
in shut down. I thought it was automatically re-starting, for some
unknown

reason. Did a forced re-start. Heard similar info. Found sign in button.
Space bar. Computer shut down.

One of the times, I heard something about starting in the locked mode.

Now, the computer starts normally, as it pertains to the sound and
humming.

However, there is no sound. Not even the windows start up sound. The
computer automatically shuts down in about a minute and half, after I
press

the start button.

Without sighted help how do I get it to start in safe mode? Since
narrator

has been so good in windows 10, will it allow me to do a system restore?

Sighted help might arrive, sometime tomorrow. But, I was just
wondering if

I could do it using jaws and narrator.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas. He is The Reason for the season.

Hi Bill. This is Helga. How are you? I don't have JAWS 17, but I use JAWS 14
running Windows 8.1. Have you tried on going to the profile link on your
Facebook, and then tabing until you find your information, and then just delete
or replace your information? Or maybe you can just press space bar in order to
turn on the edit field so that you can write The information that you
want. And regarding your second question, yes I think your FB friends will get
a notification saying Bill updated his profile or something like that if I'm
not mistaken. Or if you have an iPhone, you can also go to your profile info
on th e Facebook app,and do it that way. Hope this helps!! I look forward in

I hope that also applies to
Windows10.

First, the qube never launched, even in compatibility mode, and tw blue does
not launch from the desktop icon even when I run it as administrator. The
only way to get tw blue to launch is to click the .exe file in the programs

Dear friend, use either trouble shoot compatibility or uninstall the program
& reinstall it by downloading a fresh coppy of TWBlue.

Hi,
Forgive me for jumping in on this thread but Kevin's instructions say you
have to turn off requiring a password to disable this. I didn't think you
needed to do that. can someone clarify as I wouldn't want to disseminate
erroneous information but I truly didn't remember having to have done that
as I'm still logging into windows with a pin and my machines are still set
to require one but I did disable fast startup myself.

thanks bunches for clarifying.

Hi Al,
One reason is because if you are running a program in demo version, the
quick start will not set the timer back so you can use for another 40
minutes. Another reason, is the quick start is why people are not hearing a
sound when they shut their computer off or turn it back on. Also, the
quick start does not shut the computer totally down, so it is not the same
as a complete shut down. I do not like the quick start for all of these
reasons. Have a great one, Al.

Hello Gang:

I have a windows 10 laptop that has been working fine for

almost two

months. Yesterday, right after jaws came up, I heard a

question

similar to:

"Hello, how do you like this picture. We will be sending

you more, et

cetra." Even though I do not sign in with a password, I

was able to

find the sign in button, and struck the space bar.

However, the

computer crashed. as in shut down. I thought it was

automatically

re-starting, for some unknown reason. Did a forced

re-start. Heard

similar info. Found sign in button.
Space bar. Computer shut down.

One of the times, I heard something about starting in the

locked mode.

Now, the computer starts normally, as it pertains to the

sound and

humming.
However, there is no sound. Not even the windows start up

sound. The

computer automatically shuts down in about a minute and

half, after I

press the start button.

Without sighted help how do I get it to start in safe

mode? Since

narrator has been so good in windows 10, will it allow me

to do a

system restore?

Sighted help might arrive, sometime tomorrow. But, I was

just

wondering if I could do it using jaws and narrator.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas. He is The Reason for the

season.

maybe you can just press space bar in order to turn on the edit field so that
you can write The information that you want. And

[JAWS-Users] Chrome, Settings, & Jaws 17

J17 when I would arrow down to the, Settings Option & press enter to open, &
here is where my problems would begin in J17. In J15 & 16 after pressing
enter on the Settings Option I can tab through all the various options but,
with J17 I had to turn the virtual cursor off, Insert + Z, before I could
navigate through this menu. After some playing around in Jaws 17's Quick
Settings, Insert + V, I found that having these 2 settings set the way
they're shown below allowed me to navigate the Settings Menu with J17 using
the tab key just like with J15 & J16, without having to turn the virtual
cursor off. This might not work for everyone but, it worked for me & it's
something y'all can try if you experience the same thing I encountered.
Here are the 2 settings as they should be:

Heading and Frame Options

Frame show start & end, should be checked.

In line frames show, should be on.

Hope this helps others than myself.
Take care.
Mike

Re: [JAWS-Users] disable quick start in win 10

2015-12-28 Thread Mario

I don't have windows 10, but from most of the posts/replies I've read,
it appears to be equated to the hybernation mode which, correct me if
I'm wrong, was a troublesome mode for JAWS users.

Could you please tell us how to disable the windows 10 quick
start?

with windows 10 you never start the computer from a cold

again you must

there is a way to disable the windows 10 quick start but I

will not

sound is on

restart. But from a cold start W10 does not make a sound.

Just to let

you know.

restore?

Hello Gang:

I have a windows 10 laptop that has been working fine for

almost two

months. Yesterday, right after jaws came up, I heard a

question

similar to:

"Hello, how do you like this picture. We will be sending

you more, et

cetra." Even though I do not sign in with a password, I

was able to

find the sign in button, and struck the space bar.

However, the

computer crashed. as in shut down. I thought it was

automatically

re-starting, for some unknown reason. Did a forced

re-start. Heard

similar info. Found sign in button.
Space bar. Computer shut down.

One of the times, I heard something about starting in the

locked mode.

Now, the computer starts normally, as it pertains to the

sound and

humming.
However, there is no sound. Not even the windows start up

sound. The

computer automatically shuts down in about a minute and

half, after I

press the start button.

Without sighted help how do I get it to start in safe

mode? Since

narrator has been so good in windows 10, will it allow me

to do a

system restore?

Sighted help might arrive, sometime tomorrow. But, I was

just

wondering if I could do it using jaws and narrator.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas. He is The Reason for the

season.

Neil
