[JAWS-Users] Windows 10 Adding Local Accounts

2016-02-11 Thread Hicks Steven (ROYAL CORNWALL HOSPITALS NHS TRUST)
Hi friends,

Does anyone know how to add an additional local user account in Windows 10 Home
Premium?
I Have followed a instruction link on a Microsoft article and it says that in
family, there is an option called sign in with a Windows account but there
should also be a local account option.
I Can't find how to get to this, tried tabbing around and up and down arrows.
If I turn on the JAWS cursor, it just keeps saying blank and I can't read
anything else on the screen, very strange!

2016-02-11 Thread Greg Washington
Interestingly enough I am experiencing the same problem on my Windows 10
computer that I upgraded from Windows 7. I have another computer still
using Windows 7 and the shortcut or hot key for Jaws still works. Below is
a work around I got from another list.

1. Do a windows+M key to go to the desktop
2. Hit the home key to go to the first icon on your desktop.
3. Hit the letter J and you should be on Jaws 16 if you have it
installed. If not then you should be on Jaws 17 if you do not have any other
icon starting with j. If you have Jaws 16 and Jaws 17 loaded then hit the j
twice to get to Jaws 17.
4. Hit enter key and Jaws will load.

I have the latest JAWS and have Windows 8.1.

This problem only started a couple of days ago and nothing had been
installed or deleted from the computer. The hot key had been working just
fine.

I had been on a website and I was trying to purchase something and it wasn't
working too well so I turned off JAWS with the insert+F4 and when I went to
use Control+Alt+j it wouldn't work. I did wait for several seconds and
nothing happened. I tried using the hot key again a few times and nothing.

I went to see if the hot key was still there and it's there. I've turned off
the computer and also restarted it but the hot key still doesn't work. If I
try to delete the hot key and re-enter it, for some reason I'm taken off the
JAWS screen and taken to the Desktop and I have to go back to JAWS in the
taskbar and no matter if I try and re-enter the hot key again, it still
takes me to the Desktop.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me please?

Thank you,

Melissa

2016-02-11 Thread Janine Smith
Hi Greg and Melissa

I have had Jaws not responding when I have had to bring Jaws back. I have used
the J and enter and that works best. After several frustrating days my local
dealer passed on the problem to Freedom Scientific and hello, it is a known
issue and it is being worked on. Known to Freedom but I only discovered it on
Sunday, your Saturday. Regards Janine

this also works on a win 7 machine. However it then brings up jaws 16. So if
you want 17 and 16 is on your system. use the windows key and the letter J.
Then down arrow once and enter. This will bring up jaws 17.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Hot key to turn JAWS back on not working

2016-02-11 Thread Shai
Hi,
Technical Support states that the hot key not starting JAWS is a
documented issue and they are working on it. I am also having the
issue you describe with starting JAWS on Windows10.
Another means of restarting JAWS after turning it off for now is to go
to the run menu with windows plus r and press the backspace key once
or twice to clear any information that has been typed previously. Then
type jaws17 in lowercase and without any spaces and press enter. This
should start the program.
Hope that helps

Re: [JAWS-Users] Hot key to turn JAWS back on not working

2016-02-11 Thread Greg Washington
Great. Also, on my windows 10 computer pressing the windows key, then
pressing the letter J key and hitting enter also brings up Jaws speaking.

Thank you,

Melissa

Hi,
It is called this PC, and here is how you get it on your desktop. First,
press windows key + I to bring up settings. Right arrow over to personalize
and press enter and down arrow to themes. Press enter on themes and tab to
desktop icons and press enter on that link. Next, make sure that the check
box is checked right before you tab to this PC. When you tab to this PC,
press enter and close settings. This PC should then be on your desktop. Have
a great one.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Spell Checker in Word 2013

2016-02-11 Thread Pinky
Hi Jorge,
I had this happen to me a few times using Word, and Outlook 2010. I just
closed Word and re-open it. If that did not work you might have to reboot
your pc. I know that fix my issues when I was having that issues.
