Re: [JAWS-Users] Another Observation About System Restore
Hello Tom, I don't know if this will work but try using CTRL with 6 and see if your folder list appears. It is possible to reset folders in the view by using a switch with the executable but this would involve a number of steps. Hopefully, the CTRL with the number 6 (the 6 above the y) will work. [JAWS-Users] System Restore Question
Hello, everyone. As I noted about an hour ago, doing a system restore solved my problem with the folder display list in Outlook 2016. However, for some reason, the first time I tried it, the system restore back to two days ago did not stay. When I got back into system restore, the "Undo system restore" option was checked, and I could not get down lower on the screen to check the option that lists restore points. I could find the option with my Jaws cursor, but could not access or check it using the P C cursor. I had to seek sighted assistance to get to this option. Does anyone have a work-around for this issue? Hopefully, my earlier system restore point will stay this time. Thanks all for your patience. Re: [JAWS-Users] Strange Outlook 2016 problem
Hi, Adrian. I tried to maximize the screen when in Outlook, and not in an actual message, but it did not make any difference. The strange thing is that I can get to my folder list via control Y with no problem. It's almost like my folder list view that I get to via shift tab is somehow collapsed, or, perhaps, not expanded. I have no clue how this happened, especially since my e-mail was working just fine earlier this afternoon. I think it is some sort of a Jaws issue. I'll keep checking here for possible remedies. In the meantime, I can always use Control Y. Re: [JAWS-Users] adobe acrobat reader dc
Hi, If you get an empty document, that means that the PDF cannot be read with a screen reader until OCR is done on it. With JAWS, just press insert+space and press o then d, and JAWS will do OCR on the PDF document. With NVDA, there is a OCR add-on that will do the same thing. You need to download and install that OCR add-on for NVDA and then it will do OCR on the PDF. Most PDFs are not created to be read with a screen reader, because they are a picture of text instead of text itself. this is why OCR needs to be done on the PDF even with Adobe Products. Take care, and I hope you can read it now with the info I just gave you. Re: [JAWS-Users] adobe acrobat reader dc
I use Open Book most of the time to read scanned docs as well as security protected docs. Best for really long docs, too, as JAWS OCR may take some time to load. Open Book wipes out all links, though. Why JAWS OCR does not wipe out links is a bit of a mystery as they both have the same or similar OCR engines. Open Book may add some treatment that JAWS OCR does not. On 8/8/2016 3:50 PM, Mike B. wrote: Hi Maria, Another way to read 1 of those empty documents is with Openbook, if installed. Re: [JAWS-Users] adobe acrobat reader dc
This is what I do. The instructions are below. They are from FS. Ed Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific technical Support. I recommend you contact the Microsoft accessibility team for assistance setting Adobe Reader as your default PDF reader instead of the Windows 10 PDF viewer. At this point, you can set Adobe Reader not to allow access in web pages with the instructions below: A. Using the Accessibility Set Up Assistant When you launch a PDF the first time, the accessibility set up assistant opens. If the accessibility wizard has already run, do the following to open it: 1. Press ALT+E to open the Edit menu. 2. Press Y to select Accessibility submenu. 3. Press ENTER on Set Up Assistant. The first page of this five page dialog box opens. The default choice is fine, press ENTER to move to the next page. 4. On the second page you can change things if you wish, but by default it is OK. Press ENTER to move to page three. 5. On the third page you can change things if you wish, but by default it is OK. Press ENTER to move to page four. 6. On the fourth page, if you want to use the list of links, list of headings, and the JAWS find command so on to access long documents, change the radio button from "For large documents, only read the currently visible pages" to "Read the entire document at once." If you do not make this change, in long documents JAWS only sees the links and headings on the current page. Additionally, JAWS can only search the current page with the JAWS find command. If you do select read the entire document at once, it may take a few seconds longer to process large documents, but it is worth it to be able to see the links and headings in the entire document, or to search the entire document with the JAWS find. 7. Press ENTER to move to page five of the Set Up Assistant. 8. If the check box for Reopen documents to the last viewed page is checked, you may want to uncheck this. It is a personal preference. TAB through until you reach the check box for "Display PDF documents in the web browser," and uncheck it. 9. Press ENTER to activate the Done button. B. Additional changes in Adobe Reader XI preferences. 1. Press CTRL+K to open the Adobe Reader XI preferences. 2. In the Categories list on the left side of the dialog box, choose Accessibility. 3. Press TAB to move to the item, Show Portfolios in Files mode (not checked by default) - check this. 4. Press TAB to move back to the Categories list and choose Security (Enhanced). 5. Press TAB to move to Enable Protected Mode at startup (checked by default) - uncheck this. 6. Press TAB to move to the OK button, and activate it with the SPACEBAR. NOTE: The option to view PDF documents in the browser is no longer found in the Preferences. You must use the Set Up Assistant to find this The Microsoft accessibility team can be reached at: 1-800-936-5900 -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Maria Campbell Sent: Monday, August 08, 2016 10:20 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] adobe acrobat reader dc Doubtless, this issue has been addressed countless times.
