Hello list,

Was considering getting a Ring Video Pro and would like to know if the
accompanying app/cloud service is at all accessible?

I’d likely get someone to install it, but I’m interested in the
notifications aspect. Both the wife and I run our businesses out of the
house, so we’re home throughout the day. We’ve already got a no
solicitations, no surveys and no sermons sign in front to cut down on people
coming to the door, but there are always those who would never consider that
such a sign applies to them.

In any event, I’d like to know people’s experiences with this device and
accompanying desktop app for Windows.

Using the latest JFW 18.

Thanks,

No, not yet, that I know of, that was a feature I suggested to Eric Damry a
couple years ago, but FS was not interested.

With a registry hack, I think you can run in Safe Mode with NVDA.

There was also a screen reader called Optiguide that claimed it could run in
Safe Mode but I have no experience with it.

With Jaws, as it stands right now, there are just too many hooks and drivers
that can't load in safe mode for Jaws to handle.

Hi Anna,
I did play around with the new MacAfee interface. It still is not as
accessible as it was before they updated it.

I figured it out to run a manual scan first you have to click on
security and then you click on virus scan secure and then a window will
appear with your last scan and your next scan and you arrow or tab one
more time and click on scan button and the scan page will appear and
then you just click on the scan type that you want.

Re: [JAWS-Users] McAfee live safe
Hi,
Since the users interface has change it seems to me it is not accessible
with Jaws any more. When my subscription runs out in September I will be
using Windows Defender. By McAfee not being accessible any more this seals
their fate with me.

The user interface has changed and I need to know how do you run a manual
scan

I use to be able to run a manual scan by clicking schedule and run scans but
now since the user interface has changed I can not find that so how would I
go about running a manual scan?

Thanks for any help in advance

Hi Rick, and Adrien

Thanks for coming back to me. JAWS is set to run from the system tray and while
I have my own JAWS 18 set to work this way and it works fine for me the JAWS
17 on another computer is not behaving in the same way. I mean that pulling
jaws up on my own machine using JAWS key + J I can then down arrow through the
various sub menus of the jaws settings but pulling up JAWS 17 on the other
computer using keys, "JAWS key + J and down arrowing does not produce the same
results in that all I get is the options and inside the options sub menu are
the usual choices ending with exit.

Paul.

Hi All,

Got a Dell laptop with windows 7 installed. Whenever I try and bring up the
JAWS 17 window to access something like the Utilities menu all I get is the
Options menu and a system menu. Most of the items in the system are greyed
out such as restore, minimised and maximised so nothing to access of any use
there. I did a repair of JAWS and even downloaded an available update but
still no joy. I also checked the resolution and it was at a value somewhere
in the middle of a range of different values indicating that this was the
recommended one. Just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on this.

Many thanks for help.

Paul.
