Re: [JAWS-Users] Power Shell vs Command Prompt
Thanks for the response. So, I gather it's accessible with JAWS. Will it still run programs like the Command Prompt does? Specifically, If I want to turn off hibernation, I was instructed to run the following command in the Command Prompt: powercfg.exe /hibernation off When I upgraded to Windows 10 Creators edition, it substituted Power Shell for Command Prompt in the windows-x menu and I'm wondering if I can just use the Power Shell for that or if I need to switch back to Command Prompt. PowerShell is newer and much more capable. It is definitely accessible with JAWS. I've set it as the default. Command Prompt is much older (similar to the old DOS shell). Re: [JAWS-Users] facebook
Hi Justin! Type the URL: m.facebook.com You will be on the mobile site of Facebook, by far the easiest to use. Make sure you use IE 11. Other browsers do not render the mobile site quite right, and it is confusing. Just press e, for edit, and go into forms mode. You are in the search field. Just type a friend’s name and press enter. Press H for heading, and arrow down to the choices. Sometimes, there are some choices that is not your friend that has the same name. You will know which one is your friend, because it will not say add friend. That is the one you enter on! Hope that helps! Re: [JAWS-Users] MS Word Page Number Inquiry
Hi Jerry, If you press, Insert / Jaws + Page Down, this keystroke should give you the information you want, if your status bar is configured to do so. Below are steps on how to customize your status bar. To show number of lines, line number, or many other options in the status bar in Word try the following: 1. Press F6 until Status bar is highlighted. Or, until you hear Jaws report, Status Toolbar. It should be the 1st or 2nd press of the F6 key. 2. Press Shift + F10 to show options. This keystroke must be used because a right mouse click or pressing the application key will not. 3. Down arrow through the available options, and when you have found line count or something else of interest press the spacebar to check or uncheck the item. 4. when done making modifications simply press AltF4 or escape key. 5. Review your status line to insure the settings have been properly modified. Joseph the free tech guy! Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers! Sent from my iBarstool. If you already had winrar set to do this though, or installed winrar afterwards, that will probably be in your context menus rather than 7zip. BTW the Winrar trial message can be safely ignored. The programme still works fine. Although it's a very good programme and I'm not necessarily averse to paying the $20, I can understand why you might not want to. The shell option to extract with the programme should still be there in your context menus though. If not however, 7zip will work, as others are saying. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of wayne smith Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2017 11:49 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Unzipping files I tried right clicking and there were many options but extract files was not one of them. Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre
I am talking about Vipre 2017 version. As I continue to explore Vipre, JAWS shows any number of what it calls text blocks. Most are labeled but not read. Sorry, JAWS is simply notup to speed. The touch cursor shows the text blocks. Further more, even when I turn on the touch cursor, I'm not sure how to get any action with it from the PC.Even if I can act upon them, it would sure be nice if more was read. I'm sorry about being sour grapes, but you may hear more of this from Window- Eyes users as they explore other programs. -Original Message- From: Dennis Long Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2017 2:15 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre Is the 2017 version accessible? Re: [JAWS-Users] Labeling buttons found when using the touch cursor
I tried routing my PC cursor to the touch cursor which was sitting on the button, and then tried to label the button, and still no go! I'm starting to think you can't label buttons like this either. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Justin Williams Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2017 10:35 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Labeling buttons found when using the touch cursor That's the graphics labeler. In fact, I just tried pressing JAWS Key+Control+Tab while using the touch cursor and while focus was on a button and was told I could not create a custom label for the button, but when I located the same button when not using the touch cursor, everything worked as it should. I am a brand new member to this list, and I have a question regarding the use of the touch cursor. On a web-site that I use, I am encountering buttons that do not have labels. When I activate them using the touch cursor, they perform certain functions consistently, such as activating the save file option. I am then presented with the standard save as dialog box. My question is this. Can I assign a label to this button? It is not found by either the JAWS or PC cursor. When pressing Insert plus F2, I am not seeing the option to label a button. Any help would be appreciated. Glad to be part of this list! if it is a .zip file win 10 has native support for extracting the archive. Also 7 zip should be in your right click menu list... So it really is just click here...
