Hello,

I have a laptop, and sometimes when opening up and lifting the screen, Jaws
will speak certain notifications. Otherwise, I don't know how to access
those when using the computer.

Thanks for your advice.

Thanks so much for this. There is a lot about Jaws I am not familiar with,
even though I have used it personally and on the job for years. Am so
grateful for the collective knowledge on this list.

Thanks.

Hi Judy,

Another tool you can use is Speech History, explained below.
Speech History

By default, JAWS retains a list of the last 50 announcements that were
spoken by the speech synthesizer. For users of refreshable braille displays,
JAWS has always provided a mode where you could review this spoken
information in braille. When this mode is active, you can use the controls
on the braille display to review the last 50 announcements that have been
spoken by JAWS.

Speech History extends this functionality to users who rely on using speech
more than braille. If you miss one or more messages spoken by JAWS, you can
press INSERT+SPACEBAR, followed by H to open a Results Viewer window
containing up to the last 50 announcements spoken by the synthesizer. When
the Speech History window opens, you are placed on the line containing the
most recent announcement.

To clear the history, press INSERT+SPACEBAR, followed by SHIFT+H. The
history is also cleared when you lock the computer or completely log off.

If you do not want JAWS to keep a history of what is spoken, do the
following:

1.. Press INSERT+F2, and select Settings Center.
2.. Press CTRL+SHIFT+D to load the default JAWS settings.
3.. In the Search edit box, type "speech history" without the quotes.
4.. Press DOWN ARROW to move to Enable Speech History in the filtered
search results in the tree view.
5.. Press SPACEBAR to clear this check box.

In case of classic text balloons, with numeric keypad turned off press NUMPAD

Miriam,

Have you ever pinned an application to the taskbar? This allows you to open
an application by pressing the Windows key together with one of the numbers
on the keyboard above the letters. This Windows 7 method of opening
applications never fails me.

Here's an example of how you pin an application to the taskbar. After
following these directions, you should be able to open IE simply by pressing
Windows key+1.

How to put Internet Explorer in the task bar.
1. Go to "all programs" by pressing the Windows key and arrowing up once.
2. Press I until you land on Internet Explorer. Do not press enter.
3. Instead, press the applications key and arrow up more than once. One
option you'll hear is to pin to the start menu. Another is to pin to the
taskbar. Press enter on this last one, pin to taskbar.

That's it. I hope you'll try it. Setting up a taskbar pin for Outlook will
take an extra step, but first see if this works for you with IE.

I know for a fact that all my passwords are correct in both my server and in

I have had to dis connect my router for a minute and re connect it and it

I have also found another problem, sometime my WLM won't send any messages
and what I do there is close the program and re open it and it works
correctly.
I suppose this is caused by Microsoft no longer supporting the program and
because we are using it in windows 10 it may not function in windows
