[JAWS-Users] accessible simple diary and accessible DVD cloning package

2008-09-23 Thread Ciego
I've been using Ample Notice now for about 15 years going back to DOS days. In
fact, the Windows version I'm using in XP Pro is technically for Win 95!

I'm looking for something a little better but not more complicated! AN sort-of
works in XP Pro with JAWS 7 but is limited in that it reads each event but not
the date - I'm sure it used to read the date in the past but I've often found
with the FS 'updates' that one loses bits as well as gaining some. I recently
went back to JFW7 from 9 due to some quirks in Word).

Anyway, A N is effectively a textfile that you can either edit in a text editor
or input directly from the A N screen.

I've literally got years of dates and don't want to have to input it all over
again!!!

Can anyone suggest anything? please? The trouble is, in the past, I have
splashed out on a new package only to end up going back to Ample Notice.

Also, I'm after an accessible DVD cloning package so I can backup my DVDs.

I've tried DVD Cloner and Clone DVD both are either mostly or completely
inaccessible as they use exclusively graphics, ie film strips.

I suppose the writers of such backup packages don't figure blindos might use
movie DVD's? :)

Someone on another list I saw recommended anyDVD but don't want to splash out
until I know it will work.

Much thanks

[JAWS-Users] 64 bit version of JAWS

2008-09-23 Thread Ciego
I have a new quad core PC with XP Pro 64 bit version.

Is there a JAWS which will run on this?

Imagine quad cores, and thus 64 bit OS's will become more common!

Thanks

Re: [JAWS-Users] copying audio files

2007-11-18 Thread El Ciego
GoldWave and several other sound editing packages will allow you to
do this, as will most CD creators such as Roxio, Nero and Record Now
from Sonic.

You can't simply copy the files, sadly. The .cda format and the .wav
format are very different.

Another way to go is to use a software application which creates a
mirror image of the CD you want to copy.

What I do is this: I rip CDs into separate directories, then use
Sonic to select songs, etc. to burn onto another CD. The process is
almost automatic with Record Now.

Any freeware or shareware jukebox program should allow you to do
this. No money required to try anything out, but it will take some
time for you to find the app and interface that work best for you. Good luck.

You may contact me directly for help if you feel I can be of
service. [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi Folks,

I am using windows-XP pro and jaws 8.current. My question is can I copy
audio files from a CD to another CD without purchasing a bunch of software
that I will probably never use again? My machine came preconfigured with
Roxio CD Creator 6 however I have never used it and basically have no idea
how it works.
