 Hi all;
 I have XP and13.0.
I just updated to 13.0 and when I am in Microsoft word, JAWS reads tabs, for
example, when I am at the top of the page, I hear 1 inch.
or, before a certain line I hear 1.5 inches.
I am not sure where to turn this off.
I can not get JAWS to announce the - symbol.
 Precise directions are appreciated.
Oh, lately, I have sent messages to JAWS and they would not appear in my in

This would let me know if the message is going through.
Any suggestion on the word and, sending issue is much appreciated.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Volume with Adobe on the internet

 Hi Volly,
Generally speaking, the only volume control you have on the internet, is the
master volume control on the computer,
unless you are streaming, in which case you would probably be using a media
 player on the computer.
Now, if the sound is playing thru some type of player on a specific site,
then the player controls are probably located somewhere on the page, and
whether they're accessible, or even labeled,
 is a whole different story.
As to volume with Adobe, I am not aware of any volume or play controls
 within the program.
Why don't you give us an example of what you are trying to accomplish.
My answer may be way off course, and if so, try phrasing your question
 differently, that might help.

In Windows 7, the, Send To, appears to work as it does in Windows XP,
whereas you can send a file to an e-mail recipient, from within a folder.
Windows 7 does not use the familiar Windows AddressBook found in Windows
  XP,
instead it uses a Contacts list, and if you access the list from within
  the
  Windows Mail program,
you can go to the file menu, and then the actions sub-menu, and send

Re: [JAWS-Users] internet explorer download problem

I seem to be having a similar problem. Are you using IE 8 or 9? when you
download, are you prompted with a sound or message? are you hitting alt-n to
open the prompt to run or save the file?

Unfortunately, when I try to reinstall JFW latest build for 12, I get a windows
message stating the program has already been installed and aborts the operation
all together. True, the program is installed on my system, but not working
correctly.

not to get off topic, but try the above for the information bar or as someone
suggested, save to target to see if that rememdies the problem.

hi, sometimes when things refuse to download for me, I usually do a force

If it still doesn't work, you can try hitting the applications key and
choosing save target as. That's still the same as downloading a file that
 you want.

These techneques usually work for me.

But I don't use IE anymore, so I never get that problem as much.

how do you do it without losing speech?

And then I also get the nag about other users being logged in when I try to
shut down or restart. Do you have to switch the users back in order to log
off the first user? Can't quite get it it if it's supposed to work.

Sorry for these stupid questions but I am stuck and my wife
 is not very computer literate.
It seems that you know much about these technmical matters.
After I installed win 7 and it restarted I noticed that
there was not that familiar windows sound. Do you think it
can be the volume which is muted or turned down. What
worries me is that my wife says that there is A picture on
the system tray which indicates that no speaker or headphone
is plugged in, although my speakers are plugged in. It is an
 onboard realtech sound card.
I tried to activate the windows narator but there is still
 no speech.
 Any suggestions will be helpful.

if using Windows Vista or 7, the answer is yes. click on sound card in system
tray, such as Realtach. click on volume control and tab through the options.
when you arrive on application for JAWS, slide the bar down using either down
arrow or page down key. the remaining aps using the sound card will remain the

Re: [JAWS-Users] Listening to Serious online

2011-02-10 Thread Cornell Ligon

HI All,
got a bit of good news. Wehn going to the new site, enter your user name. tab
over and enter your password. arrow down once and you will hear jaws announce
graphic 13; that is the button to enter the site. from there, at the top of the
page, you ought to hear information about Sirius/XM new site. just under that
you will hear option to log out. just under or tabbed over once you will then
hear help/support. tab once again or arrow down once and you should be in an
edit box. just type in the station you want, such as 100 for STern, 145 for Fox
news etc. I guess ther'es others way of browsing as well, but I haven't
explored that far yet. nor have I found the volume button. I think the site
will be great, especially if they lable their graphics and buttons more
effectively. You can now save favorites stations, but I also haven't figured
that one out yet either.

give it a shot and write back with your experiences.
Also, I ntoed to someone they offer a free 7 day trial,but I see it's now 30
days.

check the box which reads, remember my ID and password,
another check box is, sign me in automatically,
   the next tab is options,
   the next tab is,

Re: [JAWS-Users] repairing Windows Media Player

2011-01-08 Thread Cornell Ligon

HI,
Have you tried to go into control panel programs and features or add/remove,
and tried a repair? Alternatively, you can try to download another or check to
see if there are possible hotfix updates.
HTH!

Best Regards, Cornell

Re: [JAWS-Users] information bar in IE

2010-12-29 Thread Cornell Ligon

Hi There,
do yourself a favor and remove the current version of Adolby flash. Then, go
back to the site and install.
Too many have had difficulties removing flash before uninstalling the previous
version.
HTH!

Re: [JAWS-Users] IE 9 and jaws

2010-12-28 Thread Cornell Ligon

keep in mind, it's a beta, which is usually recommended for advance computer
users or IT pros. I'm using it effectively with minimum problems: too many
blank lines announced with JFW 12 and combo box issues. Also, using Win 7 Home
Premium 35 bit OS and JFW 12 Professional.

HTH!

trying IE 9? Oh man, I could try it then.

IE 9 works great with JFW12.
I have it installed with the 40 minut mode because I have a license for JFW
 11.
