2008-05-21 Thread Eileen Lafond
Hi,
I have received some e maill that has the following at the end of it. Avast
does not put this at the bottom of my e mails. Am I not using Avast correctly
with my e mails or is maybe this company using the paid version and not the fre
one?

The message follows:

2008-05-21 Thread Eileen Lafond
Thanks for this information. When I got into the details button, it said that
Avast was already running so I assume that somehow it was automatically set to
run in the inbound and outbound mail.

Do you think I am assuming correctly?

Hello Eileen,

1. Bring up the system tray with Insert-F11.
2. Use down arrow to move to the Avast On-access scanner choice and then
use tab key to move to the right mouse button choice and press enter.
3. use the up arrow key to move to the on access protection control
choice and press enter.
4. You will find a list of running scanners. use down arrow to move to the
one relevant to Internet Mail or for Outlook and use tab key to move to the
details button and press enter.
5. use the tab key and the JAWS cursor to get information in the details
but you will notice that incoming and outgoing for POP3, IMAP, etc. are
automatically checked for scanning.

There is a customize button in the dialog where the list of scanners is
shown, and there is also a second details button in the details screen that
you can choose for certain changes.

Take care.

Hi, here's another example. For several months Hannah my girlfriend had
problems with her Outlook Express. Several scans with both AVG and Spybot
revealed nothing, but guess what? Avast found a virus floating in her
mailbox folders! Since then she's able to use Outlook Express fine.

Hi, for a complete scan, check all local disks, check archives, move the
slider to 100% (thorough scan), and click start. Hope that helps.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS stopping speech.

2008-02-05 Thread Eileen Lafond
Hi,
We have my home work computer here at work updating the new firewall of
CheckPointIntegrity and the VPN of Aventail.

I am using JFW Version 8 and it works the majority of the time, however,
occasionally it will stop talking. The JFWS application is still there, but no
speech. I have closed JFW and opened it again and that does not work. I have
to totally log back off and then back on to get it to work again.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can keep JFW talking?

I am using Windows XP.

I hope this is enough information.

If I may be so bold as to enquire...

Why don't people just shut the smart tags off.

All you have to do is open up the options dialog box, control+tab to the
view menu, although you may not have to do that as I usually land on that
tab first, then tab down to where it says smart tags, and uncheck the box.

You won't be bothered by those pesky things anymore.

Is there a reason why people aren't doing this if it bothers them so much?

Hi, Eileen. You can try this. Go into your word program and hit insert V
for jaws verbosity. Then arrow down until your hear smart tags. Then hit
the space bar to uncheck it. Hopefully that should work. Other than that, I
don't knowwhat else to suggest.

Eileen,

Do you currently use Outlook?

If so you can set up tasks and assign them to others or you can use
the Outlook Calendar and set up things as events leaving the field that
shows the status as free and then the time on the calendar isn't
blocked but the item still appears on the calendar and the reminder
function is still available.

If this sounds like something that might be helpful, please email me
directly and I can help you through the steps.

I use both of these functions with my staff and it works well.

Hi,
I need to find some software Accessible to JFW that I can use to send
out notifications to people in my org unit. In other words, I can set it
up to remind people of things on a weekly, daily, etc. basis without me
have to intervene.

I use Alarm 95 to notify myself of events, etc. however it does not send
out messages to others.

I am using JFW version 8 and Windows XP Pro.
