Re: [JAWS-Users] Withdraw request, found instructions on Using Netflix with JAWS

2015-05-15 Thread GOODTIMES ROADSHOW
Hi tim; being cheeky is there any chance you would mind posting or mailing
me any Net Flix stuff you have?

I love my movies and have about 400 audio described DVDs and Blue Rays but
have never tried a service such as Net flix. Someone told me that if you
start playing a movie via Net flix and then pause it you can access the
menus and turn on audio description if it is available on that particular
film...If that is so then it sounds like something that would really suit
me.

Thank you and best wishes

Subject: Using Netflix with JAWS

Hello All,

My daughter just set me up with my own profile on Netflix. I was able to
pick my profile, although JAWS did not say it was a link, just a graphic,
but a left mouse click command on the keyboard did open my profile.

I then see all the shows and movies she pre-selected for me, including a
brand new Netflix series that prompted my asking to be set up. Below each
show title is a link to Y Player, and when I select that, I get a screen
where only the Netflix title appears, no links or anything.

Does someone have a basic guide for using JAWS with Netflix, or is Netflix
even accessible?

Tim Ford

Hey There,
Make it a good practice to try to maximize your window when you start an
application. Jaws behaves a lot better when this is done.

Also, is the screen maximized?

When I press the alt key it goes to file and if I press the right

I have also tried pressing alt T but that doesn't work either, I

[JAWS-Users] Seperating JAWS from music output

2012-04-10 Thread Goodtimes Roadshow
I am a Wedding DJ and compare and at the moment I use conventional Pioneer DJ
twin CD players and also a specialist Denon DJ HDC2500 hard drive controller.
The Hard Drive Controller is just about manageable as I know most of my music
and in many cases I just have to type a particular search string and I know it
will find the track I need, I can then quickly check that I am on the right
track by using headphones. Problem is I don't always know if I have the track
and also if I do have it it could be a fair way down a specific folder.[you can
only search the first path and then its manual using a viewing window] i.e.
Walk of Life would be a fair way down the Dire Straits folder. I am able to
search for the Dire Straits folder but then there is no facility to do a search
string within that folder. This means that sometimes I have to rely on someone
being there to tell me what is displayed in the viewing window.

I want to try using a laptop to replay some tracks, at the moment I'm not that
bothered about using any specialist mixing software although I understand that
OTTS DJ is compatible with Jaws. For now I would be quite happy being able to
use a standard folder such as My Music and playing directly out from there
using Windows Media Player or alike.

My mixer has multiple lines so I intend to keep my CD players and the HDC and
just use a laptop for when I need to do a search.

I need to know if it is possible to keep the JAWS output separate away from the
actual music output in order that JAWS is not heard through the PA system.and
if so how?

I wondered about a multi channel sound card such as a Gigaport or even using
the built-in sound card and also another basic sound card as well, one for the
music and the other for JAWS, my other concern is could I get a high enough
output from JAWS so it can be heard via headphones in a noisy environment. I
haven't bought the laptop yet either so if there is a laptop out there that has
the facility to do this without any additional sound cards that would be
interesting too.

Many thanks in advance for any help and advice

Either a hardware synthesizer, something like a DECTalk, Doubletalk,
etc. or a second dedicated soundcard.

With the hardware synth, a used one with a serial to usb adapter will
do nicely usually and with a soundcard, any cheap cardfor US$20 or
less will do for speech output.

You can write a macro in Word to enable you to fill in cheques and then use
the envelope slot in a standard printer to actually print them. My Son set
it up for me and it announces the title of each field as you tab through
them. Obviously you will need to have someone fairly computer literate and
sighted to set this up but once its done its really very easy to use.

Hi Dale,
It's not my preference, but I do have raised line checks and can
write a check if needed. I bought the kind of checks that have a
carbon behind them so if a friend or someone writes a check for me I
have a copy of it. I have been using online banking until recently
when they changed the site and I just don't get it anymore. I am
working with FS and the bank to make it work for me. I like the
online banking because I have it set so that anytime any activity
occurs on my account, I receive an email.

Some banks try to charge more for the raised line checks, but the law
says that they have to charge you the price of the most popular check
they issue.

Hello,

Why not go to Premier Assistive Technology and purchase the Talking
Checkbook. Then you can purchase a box of checks from checks in the

mail.

Tell the person that you want your name printed on the check (of

course

after you write a check to someone you still have to sign it), your

account

number, and checks in the mail will put the bank name on your checks

once

you specify how many checks you want and what number it should start

from.

The checks are laser checks. I think you'll like the TCB you can

type in

who it's going to, the date, amount, memo, notes, it even gives an

extra

field if you want to add more notes, then you can print by hitting

either

enter or the spacebar, then you can push the spacebar to check the

check

once it has cleared your account. If you have more questions feel

free to

write off list.

Best Wishes,

Larry
Try the Blind Computing website under Address Books and Personal Data.
There is a check writing program that you can download and try out.
Also,

I'm a big fan of Money Talks from The American Printing House for the
Blind (APH.org). It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Quicken
but it more than does the job and the price is very reasonable.

Hope this helps,
Russ

Hi Folks,

Are any of you aware of a check writing program that plays
well with Jaws 10.latest and windows XP-Pro?
I don't need anything with a bunch of bells and whistles
just something that will allow me to create checks out of my
HP 2600 laser printer.

Problem is that none of these DEL machines appear to be the same, I have had

Hi Debbie.

You can either use alt f10, or as far as i can remember, if you go from
the top right hand corner, the applications key is the last one to the
left, on that very top row. does that make sense?

I hope that helps,

Mo.

[JAWS-Users] Transfering files from Outlook

2009-10-18 Thread Goodtimes Roadshow
Hello; can anyone tell me how to transfer files from the folders within Outlook
Express such as in-box, sent items and other folders that I have created
into Windows Mail on my new laptop?

My old machine is running Jaws 5 something...XP Home and Outlook Express and my
new machine is running Jaws 10 something...Vista and Windows Mail. I have
some important files that I need to transfer to my new machine before I can
decommission the old one. I guess it doesn't really matter if the files are
transferred into folders in Windows Mail or just into folders within My
Documents as long as they make it to the new machine because some of them
contain some important info.

I have a spare external hard rive which comes up as drive f in My Computer so I
can use that as a vehicle for actually transferring the files. Thing is
when I select all the files in a folder the copy option becomes unavailable and
in the move to folder options there are only options to move the files
to other folders within Outlook Express.

I'm sure I am missing something pretty obvious here so any help would be
appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I successfully downloaded single tracks using
Wal-Mart Music which costs in US dollars 94¢
each. You can also use Amazon to download single
tracks costing 99¢ each. These web sites are
accessible with Jaws 9 and I would think that it
would work with your version of Jaws. The best
part is that you don't need to purchase any
software and the downloads are in MP3 format.

Hope this helps,

Lennie

Re: [JAWS-Users] Using JAWS for Downloading Ripping

2008-10-16 Thread Goodtimes Roadshow
Thanks...Sorry I knew it was J something, I saw Terry Clasper demo it
earlier this year. The thing I really wanted to know is do people actually
use it and how do they get on with it or, is there any other way of buying
and downloading music tracks without the need for buying any more additional
software?

Sorry if this all appears a bit basic, like I said originally I am not a
particularly ambitious computer user. My ideal situation would be to
subscribe to some site and put a nominal amount of money in my account and
then as I download tracks my account balance would decrease...I mean I don't
even know if this is the way it works. I'm sure it must be the same World
wide, but certainly in England it is now more or less impossible to go to a
shop such as Virgin or HMV and buy chart singles.

Many thanks

Andy
