[JAWS-Users] toshiba laptop

2017-06-16 Thread Karim Lakhani
Hello all,
I'm using windows 10 on my laptop, I know that it has a sensor if
you go near the power switch, it mutes the sounds on my laptop.
Does any one know how to turn off this feature?
Thanks in advance.

Hello to all-

I am using Malwarebytes version 2.3.. and I am getting a notice
that an update is available. I seem to recall that some other
list members did update their Malwarebytes and then ran into
accessibility issues with JAWS.
Are there any recommendations on getting the update? I am using
Windows 7 64bit with JAWS 15.

Tanks for any help.

2017-03-01 Thread Karim Lakhani
How does one get rid of the ribbons?
I think they have made things harder to accomplish by introducing
this new method of using ribbons.
I use jaws and I remember something while installing the update
it asked if you want ribbons on or off.
Wasn't sure what that means.
Thanks!

Hello there;
If you found the contacts import and export under tools, you must
have the virtual ribbon feature turned on.
The steps I gave are for the ribbon feature turned off.

Hello; give these steps a try; I'm doing this from memory, hope
the steps are accurate.

1, open windows live essentials,

2, now press ctrl+#3 to get into your contacts,

3, press alt-key, you should hear,
Home tab,

4, now use the tab key until you hear something like, Export
dropdown Press the enter key.
You should land on the comma separated value, CSV file, Press
enter.
Now this should start the export process.
Hope this works.

Karim,

I think your google comment refers to my post. I understand how
it could have come across that way, but I don't mean to suggest
that this list isn't valuable or that people shouldn't post
questions. It's just that a question like what is the current
version of this or that application requires anyone answering to
check. Sometimes it makes as much sense for the person with the
question to search on google or go to some other source as to
have someone else find out the answer for you. Put another way,
Google is an option for many questions, but by no means all.
That's why I post questions here all the time.

all thetime?

You're raising two problems that seem contradictory, as I'll
explain.

First, you can change how JAWS announces graphics in the settings
center (JAWS key+6 on the number row above the letters). When the
settings center opens, press shift-control-d to make your choice
the default across all applications, then type "graphics" into
the edit field, which will be in focus when you open the settings
center. Arrow down to the graphics option, then press spacebar to
cycle through the options, tab to confirm.

Note. If you want graphics suppressed in only one application,
such as IE, first open that application, keep focus there and
open the settings center. Obviously, don't press shift-control-d.

The reason I suggest your queries seem contradictory is that you
won't know which graphics to label if JAWS doesn't announce them.
In any event, the graphics labeler is JAWS key+g.

Hi,
I guess I need to be reintroduced to the graphics area of jaws,
and would really like it if you can tell me how to keep jaws from
saying graphic all the time, and tell me if you would how to
label a graphic once I'm sure what it is.
thanks,
Bill K.

2016-08-21 Thread Karim Lakhani
It's very strange.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall with no luck.
I've checked that all the settings are as I have them setup with
skype on my vista machine.
I can hear notifications when I have NVDA on.
Which makes me wonder more.
Thanks for the reply.

I cannot tell you if Skype Talking works just because it was
there from before, all I can say is that I haven't done anything
different than to let Skype update automatically and have updated
the dlee.org scripts as they have become available, I also have
Windows 10 on automatic updates and my Skype announces when
someone goes online in Skype.

I think you should try going to the Tools menu with Alt-T then
up-arrow to Options, down-arrow to Sounds and there after
tabbing, you need to press the space bar to select that you want
a notification when someone goes online and offline. Don't know
if that has to do with Skype Talking or just with a sound, but it
is worth a try. Again, my Skype announces me when comegone goes
online and I just Win 10 and Jaws 17.

I will try to uninstall skype and the scripts.
As well as skype talking is it true that skype talking is not
programmed to use win 10?
Thanks.

Hello,

I use Skype with Jaws 17, latest update of both, and it announces
who connects. Don't remember the set-up, perhaps something in
"Options" or perhaps is the version of the scripts from dlee.org
as I use the latest scripts too. I run Win 10.

Hi all,
Can someone please explain what, I should try.
I want skype to give me alerts of the status of people on my
contacts.
I have a win 10 machine and use skype 7 and the scripts from
dlee.org It still doesn't announce any information.
I also installed skype talking, not sure if that is suppose to
work on the win 10 system.
I also use vista on a different box, and have the same skype
settings and it works fine.
Please help I've tried to ask this on a few lists with no
responses.
Maybe I need to clarify more then I have?
Thanks.
