Is there a JAWS hotkey for quickly moving to the next or previous page of a
 multiple-page website?
At work I need to move between pages and don't find it efficient to deal
with the next or previous page links.
I tried the alt left arrow or right arrow, but that didn't work.
If there isn't such a hotkey, I humbly suggest such an animal.

For one thing, it supports a lot of the newer features and ways of
programming or coding that are being used in many new sites.  Also, there
are things in windows 7 that JAWS 10 can't deal with and JAWS 11 can.

To me, the most important reason to keep a screen reader up to date is
because we want to do what everybody else is doing, and if you stay with
something old that can't access the new technologies that are being used in
programs and on the web, then you are only holding yourself back.

Staying with an older screen reader and wanting to do what others are doing
with the new software is just like wanting to run windows 95 and trying to
install new software.  Basically it's to keep up with technology and to be
 more productive.

Defragging does not put additional wear and tear on a hard drive.  These
things are designed to work for at least 100,000 hours.  There are 8,400
hours in a year.  Do the math.  You could defrag every single day and not
come close to the limits a drive is designed to work for over the time you
 will own it.

Will this affect any versions of JAWS I have installed? Last time I tried
this, I had JAWS 5.1 running, and it stopped talking when I tried removing JAWS

Does it appear on your control panel, add/remove list?  If so, just enter on
remove when you get to it.  marilyn

Re: [JAWS-Users] future of email?

2009-04-14 Thread Riley Blake
I use both on my PAC Mate. I actually use live mail because of the direct
push feature on the PM. The only thing is, I can't send a file larger than a
meg, so if I need to send a bigger file, I use gmail. I could use my PC for
that, but it isn't always convenient. JAWS seems to work better with my live
mail account.

So the question is, who is the future of email?  Is it yahoo, hotmail, or
Gmail?  Well, Gmail and Hotmail, allow you to use pop3 or Imap with no
charge, yahoo has cleaned up there page to make it screen reader friendly,
and hotmail also allows your storage to grow as you need it.  So what does
everyone prefer, 1 of the 3 above choices, or your internet provider like
Comcast, roadrunner, or Verizon?  Just curious on all of you guys, and girls

Oh yeah, you can use third party programs. I have a few on my PAC Mate right

haven't played with this feature too much.

Re: [JAWS-Users] [JAWS-USERS] [JAWS-USERS] Remote instruction with JAWS

2009-03-18 Thread Riley Blake
That's what I thought. There are several programs one can use on the PAC Mate
not made by Freedom Scientific.

Third-party programs, that is, programs not specifically developed for the
PAC mate.  the answer is yes.

What do you mean by third party files?  I use a PAC Mate Omni.

I believe there's Skype for Pacmate as I know people who use it.

Speaking of Skype, is there a windows mobile version thereof
  which will work
on pac mate and is there an adobe flash player that'll work on it
  Thanks in advance.

The organization where I teach would like to find a way to avoid
travling to inaccessible places in order to instruct students
  with
JAWS. Using JAWS tandem requires an open phone call for the
  two-hour
teaching session, which would be very expensive overall. Is
  there a
way to communicate long-distance in order to instruct students in
  Office 2003 with JAWS?

  Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS10 speaking every letter twice in Word 2000

I don't think I've had that issue, but I could check and find out. Have you
checked any of your JAWS verbosity settings?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS10 speaking every letter twice in Word 2000

When I move character-by-character in Word 2000, JAWS10 is speaking
each character twice, including space and punctuation.  Is this an
undocumented feature of the upgrade?  How can I get back to speaking
a single character at a time???

 thanks a bunch,

 Ann

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 9 demo

2008-07-12 Thread Riley Blake
Hi everyone,
I was wanting to download the JAWS 9.0 to try it out. I am currently running
JAWS 5.10. Can I install the demo and return to my previous version of JAWS if
I don't like it? Will I need to remove my current version of JAWS? How would
I install the demo once I've downloaded it? I have windows XP home with
service pack 2.

Thanks,
Riley
