[JAWS-Users] Verbosity Level question

2018-05-05 Thread sugar Lopez
Hello all

Not sure how to explain this but forgive me if I goof up.

Ok, I have folders on my documents

On several folder it will say where this folder is located, for example
(music documents(

Yesdterday it did not say documents after the folder and now it does.

Also on my outlook if I press the f12 to save the post and I am going letter
by letter to save it, jaws will continuesly read the entire line where it
didn't read the entire line yesterday jus want I was copying.

For example

Subject line: Santas Workshop, Chocolate cake

I press f12 and just want to copy chocolate cake.

All the while jaws is saying santas workshop chocolate cake

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks

[JAWS-Users] language and Jaws

2017-06-30 Thread Sugar Lopez
Hi

I have a folder in my documents where I save friend and family's home
addresses.

For some of these addresses, Jaws will talk to me in Spanish, but just the
numbers.

Not all of them just a few of them.

How can I correct this to where I want everything in English?

Like I said it doesn't happen to all of them just a handful.

[JAWS-Users] edit fields

2017-06-29 Thread Sugar Lopez
Hi everyone

I am not sure how to explain what I need here so forgive me if I sound a bit
dinngy. smile

When I go to (for example) google on my internet browser and I am looking
for something, I would have to press the space bar to activate the edit
field and a little pop sound would be heard.

I didn't mind that.

Now everytime I reach a edit field little pops sound.

The same for my face book, the only time I would hear a little pop sound is
when I needed to type something in a edit field.

Now as soon as I reach a edit field popping sounds are blasting off

My question is, is there a way where I can get that popping sound to just
sound when I want to type in a edit field with out all the excess popping
sounds?

I know it sounds kind of everywhere but I don't know how to express what I
need or want and what is happening.

FYI

I use a Del Desk top, 64

Jaws 14

Office/outlook 2010

And I use internet browser.

Thanks if any help can be suggested

Ok I forgot to say that I know it's in the jaws settings but how do I get
there and what do I check and or uncheck?

2017-06-26 Thread Sugar Lopez
Hi all

When I go to the top of an e mail or document I have a windows beep saved

When I close a program like outlook Jaws ask me if I want to perm delete
messages but no sound and I have a soundsaved.

When I save a file that I already have or a copy is already saved no sound,
where there was a oh oh sound in the past

I am truly stuck and I feel bad for not knows what I should know.

So if anyone can please help me

I would appreciate that.

Sugar

p.s.

I am sorry if I have asked this again but maybe I have not explained myself

[JAWS-Users] Contact list

2017-06-23 Thread Sugar Lopez
Hello friends

I am using Windows 7, windows/outlook 2010, Jaws 14 on a Del desk top 64

My question is, how can I get Jaws to read my contacts on my outlook?

I had a tech person)AT)fix my outlook yesterday because it was not working
correctly. It is working fine as of today; however when I press control and
the number 1 on key board my contacts are not being read to me.

I know they are there because if I create a new e mail the contact person
will be there.

So maybe they are hidden somewhere?

Any help would be appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws announcening when deleteing items

2017-03-01 Thread Sugar lopez
Hello everyone

I will try this one more time.

When I go to delete the items in my delete box there is no sound to let me
know that it is being deleted.

How can I have Jaws announce" are you sure you want to delete these items
from the delete box?"

It says this on my lap top but not on my desk top.

It use to till I had issues with my e-Mail but now I am back, so it seems
but now without jaws announceing this item.

I do not want it to announce this upon closeing outlook, just when I am in
the in the delte box.

I hope this makes sense.

Sorry.

[JAWS-Users] issues

2017-02-25 Thread Sugar
Hello everyone

With a humble spirit I am asking for some help

For a while I have had issues with my POP3 and outlook.

I use wimdows 7, jaws 14 and office 2010 on both desk top amd lap top.(Del)

I was not able to receive e mails and I was able to send. However after
asking and asking for help, trying to figure it out(I am not as tech
smart..smile) callimg AT & T (my server) no help was givem because they are
not familiar with talking screens.

I at last called the disability line and they did help some but they changed
my pop 3 to IMap on my desk top and now I have over 10,000 E mails to delete
but I am recieving and if you all get this then I can send;however my
incoming e mails are in the mist of all these e mails that have to be
deleted.

I kmow that I have these e mails because IMap has dropped all saved e mails
from my server that I was not aware of.. frown

So if amyome has any suggestions then please send them my way and I will try
to find them.

Thank you and sorry for the long post and patience.

Every time I hit enter on that management link, it won't read me anything

collapsed, has pop-up. Does anyone know how to make this work? Thanks in

I use the mobile site, and have none of these issues. I use Jaws 15 and win
7.

Have you went to settings and turned some of these areas on? there are
several items within settings to turn on or off depending on your
preferences.
As far as comments go, I enter on the link where it states comments, and go
to the bottom after the last comment if any has posted, the edit field jaws
says this, I write the comment, then tab to post it.

I don't know if this matters one way or other, but in settings I have all
the apps turned off, as well as few other things.
But I post pictures, share statuses of other's, tag people, post links,
leave msg, um what else is there to do?
I even post pictures and photos with my IOS devices as well.

I had asked yesterday about why I can't put numbers or dates in certain form
fields, and it was suggested I use another browser. Sometimes, when firefox
doesn't crash which it does frequently, I've tried it in firefox and it
turns out the same--can't erase what's already in the form field. Has
anyone had success with chrome or is it inaccessible? Or any other browser
you've maybe used with little trouble?

Thanks.

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Hi, all, I find that whenever windows is doing an automatic update JAWS will
not allow me to do anything else. It is especially bad at work, since when
automation does a big update, JAWS is still on, I can press a key and it
will talk, but it won't allow me to do anything. This means I can sit there
the rest of the afternoon doing nothing. I have tried the jaws cursor to see
if there are any directions on what to do to no avail. This happens at home,
but I don't have to do anything in particular at that time, but it is very
aggrevating not to be able to do anything at all while this is going on.
Sorry if this has been covered. I delete things according to subject lines,

Hi Sugar. That combination is the default hotkey combination for
re-launching Jaws. I use that on Jaws 14 but as I use Jaws 15 mainly now I
can't use the same combination, I now use Control/shift and J. When it
comes to temporarly stopping speach such as when the phone goes or someone
talks to you or you want to listen to some music and don't want your screen
reader to start chattering right in the middle then you can just mute the
synthe and that saves the hassle of closing down Jaws and then the same when
launching it. As I said, I use the Screenshot key for this purpose as it is
a key I never use so when the phone goes or I want to listen to some music I
just hit that key and it says speech off and then speech on. If you
already know this then sorry for being a pain. Walter.

Trish, just install Adobe Flash Player from the following page and be sure
to uncheck the box for installing Google Chrome and Tool Bar, which is
checked by default. This should install Flash Player for IE without any
unwanted software. However, if you use this same page to download and
install Flash Player for Firefox, you will automatically install a little
utility called McAfee Security Scan Plus. There is no way to deselect this
program when you install Flash Player for Firefox, so if you don't want it
on your computer, you will have to uninstall it manually. Actually, I find
it to be a very useful tool for performing quick malware scans, so I left it
on my computer.

I know in the past there use to be a key think it was x or z not sure and

Have you tried going to a different version of jaws first as an example if
you have jaws 11, you should be able to go to the page then go and check to
see whether the check mark shows if this check mark shows, then you should
have no problem but if there is no check mark that shows then we should all
right adobe and ask them is there a work around for this situation? Please

Walter,

For the past four months or so, Ninite dropped Adobe's support. As an
alternative, I'd recommend
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

If you look at their site at the first table, there are .exe and .msi
downloads for both Adobe Flash for IE and Adobe Flash plug-ins for other
browsers. They don't appear to have the checkbox that attempts to load the
google toolbar or Goole chrome browsers either.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Hi

When Google Chrome installs, it likes to set itself as the default browser.
So if you end up with it by updating Adobe Flash, cCleaner or other
programs, before uninstalling Google Chrome, you should go into Internet
Explorer or your favorite browser and set it as the default browser. I
didn't set ie as the default until after I uninstalled Chrome. So I could
not open any links from my emails in Outlook 2010 until I installed Chrome
again and reset IE as the default. I just left Chrome on the machine,
taking up disk space.

Hi Lenny.

Try using http://www.adobe.com/flash
Use the letter g to navigate to the graphic's that attend to the Adobe Flash
player installation.

Be aware of the install of additional toolbar's and software.

The install progress has changed, so it can be a bit frustrating to complete
for a jaws user.

[JAWS-Users] Happy Thanksgiving from Sugar

2013-11-28 Thread Sugar
Hi everyone
Here is a huge hug and smooch from Sugar!
Wishing you and yours to be fully blessed today as we gather with our loved
ones, and friends to thank our Lord for such life full of blessings,
freedoms and to also pray and think of those who are not as fortunate as we
are.
So as you gather at your table, or wherever you may be to give thanks,
remember to say a little prayer for those who do not have family or friends.
Lord bless and keep you always in his grasp.

Hi all,
The urgency is because my PC is nonfunctional.
I had my PC at an I T guy and when I got it home, there were no sounds.
I have Win 7.
I confirmed different speakers and the volume control on both.
I went to “Personal” and made sure “sound schemes” was on “default.
All the “beeps” were set.
But, no sounds, including the Microsoft tones.
Is there a “silent” mode that I need to access?
Or, a mute button?
My sighted wife was unable to get the volume to work.
By the way, NVDA was turned off.
Please give explicit directions since I am used to XP and am trying to learn
Win 7.

Thanks so much!

All, not a great solution, but if you can, having both Openbook and K1000 on
your computer is a good option. I fortunately have had both for at least 15
years and so only have to buy upgrades. But K1000 is great at dealing with
the odd pdf document that will not open except by using K1000.

Sugar,

I believe that you are talking about the freedom Import printer. This is
what you use when your original document is already in an electronic format
such as a PDF. When you have a hardcopy document, you have to use an actual
scanner. At work I had an Epson scanner of some type. I was never happy
with the scan results. Now that they got a Pearl camera for me, I've seen a
significant improvement with the scan results.

Hello All,

I have been using OpenBook 9.0 for a little bit over a year now. I notice
that certain files that I scan don't scan very accurately. I use a Epson
printer and scanner combo. Some of the items that I scan give me gibberish
that wasn't part of the original document. When I spoke with Freedom
Scientific, they weren't very helpful in telling me how to generate a more
accurate scan. I already have my workflow set to Most Accurate. If anyone
have any suggestions on how to generate a more accurate scanning experience
I will greatly appreciate them.

Thank you.

Hello Trisch,

Thank you, for your WinAmp link, that was finally accessible, as
I had spent at least 5 hours prior to your email; trying to
utilise others links; as each and every time I was being told
that those sites were closed and No available access.

Once on site using your link, the free version of WinAmp 5.66 was

HI Sugar. I've had this trouble a couple of times. The problem I found was
despite everything I did I couldn't get rid of it because outlook kept
trying to send but it was too large. What you have to do is Go to your file
menu and click on Work offline then close outlook and wait for around 60 to
90 seconds to be sure the programme has completely shut down. Now re-launch
outlook and go to your outbox and delete the file, you should find it goes
this time. Once it has gone, you can then go back to your menu and click on
Work Online and that should solve the problem, it has done so for me but I
was working on XP but the principle should still apply. Walter.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Introduction and a very annoying JAWS Error

Hello my name is chela Robles from concord California.
I've been a JAWS user since version 5.0 came out, and have license for
version 10 which doesn't run under windows 7, so I've heard, and so I
downloaded version 14.0.6005 build for 64-bit systems as a 40 minute demo
since I'm not authorized to use this version fully on an HP G72 Windows 7
64-bit Home Premium laptop and I've discovered a very annoying issue which
I've tried to solve using the below method from Freedom Scientific about 6
times now and I'd like to know what your thoughts are regarding this issue
and I'm so sorry if this topic comes up often, but since I'm new to this
list, I'd like your opinions regarding trouble-shooting this issue, please?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
So I downloaded the latest demo version of the 64-bit version of JAWS
version 14, that being build 6005 in English, saved it to my C drive so I
skipped that step outlined in the directions from Freedom Scientific, then I
ran the executable and followed the prompts using the NVDA screen reader
since the talking installer didn't work, then I rebooted the pc like one
always has to when installing JAWS and I loaded JAWS and got this error:
JAWS
A file required by the driver ELOQ.JLS for Eloquence Software could not be
loaded. One or more shared components are missing. Please reinstall this
product in an effort to resolve the problem.
OK
so I pressed ok and followed the repair switch from the run dialog box:
pressed windows r then typed in C:\J14.0.6005ENU-64bit.exe /typerepair and
pressed enter and followed the prompts spoken by NVDA since the talking
installer requires Eloquence to speak since it wouldn't speak, and still no
go, I still get the same error and I've done the whole process 6 times now.
I'm officially stumped!
Can anyone help me please with this issue?
You can write me offlist at cdrobles...@gmail.com as to not clutter up this
list thank you again for your service. I greatly appreciate it.

Hi Kevin,

Try 1 of the following 2 options to uninstall Internet Explorer
The following instructions apply to both Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

1. Click the Start button , type Programs and Features in the search box
2. Click View installed updates in the left pane.
3. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows
  section.
4. Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 10, click Uninstall, and then,
  when
prompted, click Yes.
5. Click one of the following:
. Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer
10,
and restore the previous version of Internet Explorer).
. Restart later (to wait until you shut down or restart your computer).

Note: After you uninstall Internet Explorer 10, the previously installed
version of Internet Explorer will be available on your computer. It is
not
necessary to reinstall.

Option 2
 To uninstall IE10:

1. go to control panel, then programs, and click the area that says show
updates.
2. IE10 will then show up in the list of programs.
3. When uninstalling the IE10 you will be asked if you want to go back
to
IE9.

HTH
Take care.

Is there a way to view what sites have cookies on my computer?
I had to uncheck the delete history under tools/options because of a
conflict setting from my bank. But what if I want to delete some other
sites
that has placed cookies, is there some way to view all the cookies and
only
delete the ones you want and keep the rest?
I know when I used xp there was a way to view these cookies, but I am
not
sure with window's 7.

Appreciate any help..

So, do I just delete these one by one or select several at a time?

it depends. I have to keep mine unchecked for a banking issue, eventhough I
have put it in the popup settings, and security settings to allow this web
site.
I had close to 800 cookies this morning, I have reduced it down to 167,
would like to go much lower than that, but when I try to delete some, I get
a ding sound, so guess they stay until I check the box again to delete
cookies.

I am. After you install them, you have to restart Jaws. It tells you though.
Have you installed them yet?

Is anyone using the new voices with jaws 15? Ifso how do you get the vocalizer
factory to first show up in the voice profiles?

go to the jaws help menu, go up to web resources, then go down to vocalizer
voices, hit enter on that, and it will take you to the web page where you can
select and down load the voices of your choice
