Hello neighbor,

Open File Explorer, go to the address bar by using Alt D, and type in as one
word Sendto. Press enter key and the SendTo folder should open. You can
delete items from there as you would normally.

Take care.

Hi Lenny,

There are actually 2 domains you can use to send text messages from your
computer with Jaws to a Verizon user. The first one is for text messages &
I don't have any luck with this one because it has a limited number of
characters, but even if I don't exceed the character count my family /
friends don't get the whole text, so I use the second one.
#1:
phonenum...@vtext.com

This second one is the domain for sending pictures / sound files, & doesn't
appear to have a limit, so to speak, & the domain I always use for sending
text messages.
#2:
phonenum...@vzwpix.com

Ok, last time I mentioned that I went to the ease of access option in outlook

It was not in that location before which we have all established due to an

Hi,
Thus far using Mike's suggestion, all I was able to locate was the delete
sound; however, all the other sounds that occur in outlook, I'm not able to
locate.
It would help though haha, if I knew what the sounds were called.
For example, when I do CTRL n, it makes a sound when creating a new email, when
I navigate to the folders list with CTRL y, it makes a sound.
Boxes for new email, and open program are unchecked. I thought for the first
option, it would stop it, but the second one, open program, nothing. Just guest
on that one, not even sure if that was the correct option.

I looked at the ease of access option, that Cristóbal mentioned, and I saw
nothing he was talking about.
I just saw this file called Microsoft office sounds in the CTRL panel and I'm
removing it right now. Ideally, what I wanted to do was just disable them and
use them at another time.

Hi,

Both Mike and Cristóbal suggestions are right.
In the nearby past, the Provide Feedback with Sound settings was available in
Advanced Options (General tab in Office 2003 and earlier) and required an
add-in to work, which is freely available from the Microsoft Download Center.
In this old way of implementing sounds in Office programs, the add-in creates a
sub-folder in the Media folder containing various Office sounds and adds a
Microsoft Office branch to the System Sound Events in the Sounds tab of the
Sound dialog in Control Panel. By the way, you can mute individual sounds or
change them with any wav file you want.

In a not too far in time update to Office 2016, Microsoft made some significant
changes to this approach used since Office 97.
Concerning the checkbox location, they moved it to a new Options category named
Ease of Access, together with some other settings like Provide Feedback with
Animations. Now there's no need to download and install the add-in.
Other change, and the more significant one, is related to the sound
assignments. While the old add-in allowed you to change individual sounds in
Control Panel, the new implementation doesn't add anything there. Instead,
there is now a combo box next to the Provide Feedback with Sound checkbox when
it is checked, in which you can choose between Classic (which is the old Office
default sound scheme, as the name says) or Modern. In general, sounds of the
Modern scheme are quieter than the older ones. I feel more comfortable with the
Classic scheme.

In a few words, both Mike and Cristóbal answers are correct. Exact location of
the Provide Feedback with Sound checkbox and possibility to mute individual
sounds will depend on how up to date is your Office 2016 installation; Office
97 through 2013 will always use the old add-in based implementation, with
checkbox on General tab or Advanced category and allowing to change or mute
individual sounds through Control Panel.

Hope it helps!

Hi,
Thus far using Mike's suggestion, all I was able to locate was the delete

It would help though haha, if I knew what the sounds were called.

.24enu-x64.exe

What's new in this release:

Enhancements in JAWS 2018.1803.24 (March 2018)

The following is a list of improvements made in JAWS 2018 between the
February 2018 update and the March 2018 update.

JAWS
list of 11 items
. JAWS will now unmute your sound card automatically. In addition to
refreshing the screen, pressing INSERT+ESC now also checks the sound device
being used by JAWS or Fusion to make sure it is not currently muted or has
the sound level set to 0 percent. If muted, it will be unmuted. Or, if the
sound level somehow got set to 0 percent, this new feature will raise it to
50 percent, allowing you to recover without getting assistance. The sound
device is also checked every time JAWS or Fusion is restarted. If you
purposely muted JAWS speech, there is not an issue as this new feature only
looks at the Windows setting for the sound card, not the JAWS speech
settings.
. This update includes drivers for the Orbit Reader 20 braille display from
APH. Once the March 2018 update or later is installed, your Orbit Reader 20
will work with JAWS or Fusion 2018 without the need to download a separate
driver installation file.
. We've added a new layered command to toggle the Screen Shade on or off.
Since some computers do not offer a PRINTSCREEN key, you can now press
INSERT+SPACEBAR,
F11 as an alternative to INSERT+SPACEBAR, PRINTSCREEN to toggle the Screen
Shade feature.
. The Commands Search along with the layered keystroke to launch it
(INSERT+SPACEBAR, J) is now at the top of the JAWS Help menu to make it
easier for users to locate this feature. The Search for Commands item has
been removed from the JAWS Utilities menu.
. Resolved an issue with the Bookshare Book Search Research It lookup source
not displaying a list of books as expected.
. When selecting files from a list view in File Explorer, resolved an issue
where JAWS would not announce names of files if the list extended past the
visible window.
. Resolved an issue where JAWS would unexpectedly restart when pressing
ALT+WINDOWS+I to move to the next inconsistency in a document.
. When using JAWS over a Remote Desktop or Citrix connection with a braille
display connected, resolved an issue where JAWS on the remote system would
sometimes close unexpectedly.
. Added a new Dictionary entry to correct the pronunciation of Aira. It will
now be pronounced: "EyeRah".
. JAWS now uses the Liblouis braille translator for French braille. Note
that French Grade 1 and French Grade 2 currently only supports output. If
you want to be able to both display and type braille in Grade 1 or Grade 2,
you should choose Unified French.
. JAWS now includes a Finnish language braille table which can be selected
in the Computer Braille Tables dialog box in Settings Center.
list end

Amazon Kindle for PC
list of 1 items
. You can now select text in a Kindle book by character, word, line, and
paragraph. Once you select the text and press CTRL+C to copy, the Kindle app
opens a selection toolbar where you can copy the selected text, highlight
the text, lookup the text on the Internet, add a note, and more.
list end

Microsoft Office
list of 5 items
. Addressed issues with JAWS not working correctly with the Spellchecker in
the latest updates to Office 365.
. When navigating in the Outlook auto complete list that displays when
typing in the header fields of a new message, resolved an issue where JAWS
was announcing the previous item instead of the currently selected one.
. When spell checking a Word document and you are focused in the Original
Sentence field, pressing ENTER now accepts the first suggestion.
. Addressed reported issues with using Braille Line Mode in Office 2010 on
Windows 7.
. In response to customer feedback, improved the error message that is
spoken when INSERT+C to read the word in context is pressed and focus is not
in the Spellchecker.
list end

Web Browsers
list of 11 items
. You can now select and copy text from web pages in Microsoft Edge.
Currently, selecting by character, word, and line are supported.

Hey. I'm looking into this software, and it seems useful and has a lot of
recommendations for its excellent OCR. It's also not too expensive in
comparison to some others I have seen. Does anyone here use it? Someone
commented that the latest version, 14, is not as accessible as version 12
was. Can anyone on the list confirm this and describe issues?
Unfortunately,
the company does not seem to provide older versions on their site.

Do you want to do that?
Press "Yes" to reboot into Safe Mode now and run this tool from there.
Press "No" to continue running this tool as it is (not recommended).
Yes No
3. Tab to the, No button, & press enter or spacebar. Now press the spacebar
on the, Uninstall button, to start the uninstall process as Administrator.
After Avast is uninstalled you should get a prompt to restart the computer.
When the computer reboots you can check to see if any remnants of the
program are left behind. The 1 time I used this removal tool the only
remnant I found left behind was an Avast folder in the Program Files, &
Program Data folders on the root of the C drive, but I did not check the
registry.

Hi,

I accidentally installed Avast when installing CCleaner.

I thought I removed it all after using revo uninstaller.

On google here, it states when using the tool Avast has to remove it, it
boots into safe mode?

Is there another way, as I never messed with safe mode before.

[JAWS-Users] message list in outlook 2016

2018-02-01 Thread Kimsan
Hi team,

I have a question. I have different folders with emails in them, but what
I'm noticing is one folder when entering it, I must CTRL home to the top of
the list but all the other folders I'm placed at the top after entering the
folder.

To those using outlook, what do you suppose is the issue?

At first I thought it was Avast, when I accidentally installed it with

But, others are experiencing the same symtoms, so Avast is not the issue.

The best solution I have found for that is to manually search for the page

Just to clarify for all concerned, when ever you are not certain about a

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows live mail account not working

Hi Andy:

I've changed the password in both locations and I'm still getting that
dialog. When pressing escape on the ok button, the dialog does disappear but
the account still isn't working.
I do not use AOL mail exclusively, I only use it to get email notifications
for apple related stuff concerning my apple ID.
I guess in saying that if that is all I use it for, I suppose it wouldn't
hurt me to just check the mail online.

Hello Kimsan, when you changed your password, did you change it on
the AOL server or did you just change it in WLM? now if you changed it in
both places when this dialog appears just press the escape key.
I know for a fact that all my passwords are correct in both my server and in
the WLM program but I get the same thing some times several times a day and
then again I could go for a week or two and never have an issue also I have
had to dis connect my router for a minute and re connect it and it works
well with no issues.
I have also found another problem, sometime my WLM won't send any messages
and what I do there is close the program and re open it and it works
correctly.
I suppose this is caused by Microsoft no longer supporting the program and
because we are using it in windows 10 it may not function in windows
10 after the next update but we will have to wait and see.

Once you unhide files & folders, highlight the AppData folder, press, Alt +
Enter, to open its properties, tab to, Hidden, & uncheck this box. Now, you
need to tab to Okay, press spacebar, & I believe tab to, Okay, again & press
enter to save your changes. Now this folder will always be accessible.
Remember to go back into folder options & hide your files & folders again.

If you did that in the start menu search box you'd get nothing as you said.
You need to open the run box with windows key plus R. then type %appdata%
that would open the roaming folder for you.

Yo Brother from another Mother,

Once you unhide files & folders, highlight the AppData folder, press, Alt +
Enter, to open its properties, tab to, Hidden, & uncheck this box. Now, you
need to tab to Okay, press spacebar, & I believe tab to, Okay, again & press
enter to save your changes. Now this folder will always be accessible.
Remember to go back into folder options & hide your files & folders again.

[JAWS-Users] anyone here use movie maker?

2017-12-14 Thread Kimsan
Hi,

I have a wrestling website, facebook, and youtube. No, I'm not promoting
just follow me here.

I've been researching since last Saturday on how to upload an audio to
youtube which youtube mainly uses video. I I have to include a photo with
the audio in order for it to be accepted. So, currently, I'm using
powerpoint to put the podcast and photo and save it as a video file in order
to upload it. What I don't like is after I save it as a WMV, the exporting
to video takes several hours. I have about 16 podcasts I need to upload to
the youtube page for the wrestling channel.

So, with movie maker, I know this can be done as it relates to putting a
photo with an audio, but what experiences do people have with using movie
maker with jaws?

Hi Kimsan,

Here's another way you can try:
1. Press the, Windows key + R, to open the Run dialogue.
2. Type a single period, ., , & press enter. This puts you in your Name
folder of the Users folder.
3. Press enter on, App Data, navigate to the, Roaming, folder, & press
enter.
4. Navigate to the, Freedom Scientific, folder press enter, press enter on
the, Jaws, option, & select the version of Jaws you want to access the ENU
folder of.
5. Select, Settings, press enter, spacebar / select, ENU, press enter, &
there you are right smak dab in the ENU folder... LOL
Note: The above steps are predicated upon the fact that the Windows 10
folder structure is the same as Windows 7.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

To get into the ENU Folder where you would place third party scripts or
settings, do the following:

In Windows 10, go to the JAWS Utilities Menu.
Up arrow twice and you land on "Explore Utilities Folder".
Press enter and you will land in Windows Explore.
Here, you can press the letter "E" and move through various items. What you
want to get to is:
"Explore My Settings"
Press enter and you are in the location where you would add third party
scripts or settings.

In Windows 7, you can go through the start menu to the JAWS 2018 Program
Folder and in that folder, look for "Explore My Settings".

Eric

Respected friend, you completely misunderstood.
Shade screen or shade curtain is a new brand feature of JAWS which will be
included in upcoming JAWS update.
It simply means just like dark screen it will come to protect your privacy!
Meaning that suppose you are sitting in a public place and using your laptop
and you don’t want your mail’s content will be seen by any sighted person, you
just press insirt+space bar and press print screen!
That’s called shade screen meaning that your screen will disappear!

I've been using Reaper for several years now and love it. The following is a
link to a Reaper wiki that tells you everything you need to know to
download, set up, and start using Reaper.

https://reaperaccessibility.com/index.php/Main_Page

As far as the cost, Reaper is a free-to-try download with no restrictions.
When I purchased Reaper it was about $65. I don't know how that compares to
Gold wave but it's a tremendous bargain for what you get.

Have fun and take care,

Hey Folks.

Anyone here using the Reaper Digital Audio Editing software? I've heard good
things about it, and I know it's supposed to be quite accessible, a definite
bonus in a DAW. I have Goldwave and manage quite alright with it. I also
have some experience with Audacity. I know about Sound Forge and used it a
bit in the early 2000s, but not since then. Anyway, just wondering if people
who use Reaper might be able to elucidate some of its features, and what
makes it stand apart from other DAW software? I'm particularly interested in
hearing from those with experience with multiple editors.
Obviously I could try this out for myself, but the programme is quite a bit
pricier than Goldwave, so I'm just interested in getting some feedback,
particularly from screen-reader users, before I consider shelling out cash
for it.

Cheers.

Hi Kimsan,
The guide which was mentioned for 2.1.3 has been updated for 2.2.0 and is
available here:
http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Audacity-2.2.0-Guide.html

There are in fact a number of differences, in addition to the menu
structure, and these are mentioned in the introduction to the guide.
I would recommend the Audacity4Blind mailing list, and there are
instructions on how to join in the help section of the introduction section
in the guide.

Finally, this is a short audio introduction to Audacity made by Andrew
Downie. It was made for Audacity 2.1.3, so there are some minor differences,
but you still may find it useful:

Hi Kimsan!
On the settings page, you creat a home page and a start up page. The start
up page or pages, do not have to be the same as the home page, but it can
be.
There is not a save or Okay button for either.
I just set my home and start page to:
www.Google.com
However, you can set them to any URL.
Just type in the URL for your start page and home page, and press enter.
I hope that helps.
When you start Chrome, you need a start page for Chrome to go to.
That is different than your home page that you go to when you press
Alt+Home.
Have a great one!

Hi Mike:

I remembered the keystroke when walking home from work and pepper spraying a
dog that charged me.
When using CTRL jaws key f to perform a find word, and to locate the next
occurrence and previous occurrance it is CTRL page down and CTRL page up
respectively. However, I should just use the ealier route by doing CTRL F to
search for a word and for the next occurrence, just tap the next result
button.

Hi Kimsan,

Is the keystroke you're looking for, Insert / Jaws key + F3? JAWSKey+F3
Searches the current screen or virtual document for the next instance of the
item you previously have used the JAWS Find dialog to locate.

Hi Terry,

Below is a list of commands available after pressing, Insert / Jaws key +
Spacebar, to open the Layered Keystroke feature:
Search commands press J.
Repeat last background notification from Skype press Shift+R.
Show recent speech history press H.
Clear recent speech history press Shift+H.
View text on clipboard press C.
Select text between marked place and current position press M.
Customize web page with Flexible Web press X.
ResearchIt press R.
OCR Feature Layer press O.
Table Navigation Layer press T.
Switch to your recent Windows Live Messages press Number row 1 through 5.
Text Analyzer press A.
Mute Synthesizer press S.
Lock Keyboard press L.
>From Jaws help about the OCR feature:

Convenient OCR
Frequently, you will encounter images that contain textual information.
These can include a PDF file, the setup screen of an application, or the
menu of selections for a DVD movie. While these images contain text that is
readable by a sighted person, JAWS is unable to read the text as it is part
of the image.

The Convenient OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature enables you to
access any image on the screen that includes text, or recognize all of the
text in a PDF document. With just a few simple keystrokes, JAWS will
recognize the image in a matter of seconds and activate the JAWS cursor so
you can navigate the resulting text. The recognized text will be in the same
location as the actual image on the screen. In order to differentiate the
recognized text from other text that may be in the window, JAWS will use a
different voice when it encounters the recognized text. When you activate
the PC cursor, or switch to another application or dialog box, the text is
removed and you will need to perform the OCR again.

If you open a PDF document and there is no text available to read, you can
perform a keystroke that will recognize the entire document and place the
resulting text into the Results Viewer for reading. You can then use
standard reading commands to review the text or select and copy sections of
content for pasting in other applications.

To use Convenient OCR, the following layered keystrokes are available:

INSERT+SPACEBAR, O, D. Recognizes the currently open PDF document.
INSERT+SPACEBAR, O, W. Recognizes the current application window that
INSERT+has
focus.
INSERT+SPACEBAR, O, S. Recognizes the entire screen.
INSERT+SPACEBAR, O, C. Recognizes the currently selected control, such
INSERT+as a
graphical button.
INSERT+SPACEBAR, O, Q. Cancels recognition while it is in progress.
INSERT+SPACEBAR, O, QUESTION MARK. Speaks a brief help message
INSERT+describing
the commands in the OCR layer.
The following examples illustrate just some of the uses of this feature.

You insert a DVD movie into your computer which brings up a menu allowing
you to select from various DVD features. You press INSERT+SPACEBAR, O, W and
after a few seconds, JAWS will alert you that OCR is complete. At this
point, the JAWS cursor will be active and you can navigate around the screen
using the ARROW keys and read the text of the menu. When you hear the option
you want, press NUMPAD SLASH to perform a left-mouse-click, or INSERT+NUMPAD
PLUS to route PC to JAWS to activate the option. Prior to JAWS 13, this menu
would have been completely inaccessible.
Note: Depending on the type of screen the DVD displays and the quality of
the text, the Convenient OCR may not always work. Some DVD screens will be
recognized better than others.

You open a PDF in Adobe Reader which turns out to be inaccessible. Press
INSERT+SPACEBAR, O, D to have JAWS begin recognizing the entire document.
After several seconds, the contents of the PDF file are displayed in the
Results Viewer for reading. Use standard reading commands to review the text
or select and copy sections of content for pasting in other applications.
For example, you could select all, then copy and paste into a Microsoft Word
document, which you could then save.
Note: The OCR process takes longer for larger PDF files. As text is
recognized, it is added to the end of the existing text already in the
Results Viewer. This allows you to continue reading without interruption as
the document is processed. If you are currently not reading using Say All,
JAWS announces the current line as new text is added to the Results Viewer
to indicate that OCR is still in progress.

Note: If the PDF document requires a password, you will be prompted to enter
it when you first press INSERT+SPACEBAR, O, D. You must enter the correct
password before the OCR process will continue.

The following commands will shutdown and reboot your system:

shutdown -s -f -t 00

shutdown -r -f -t 00

Note: the notation of 00 means the system will perform the task right away.
So say you wanted it to shutdown in an hour, then change the number to 3600.

Also note, any time more than 00 you do not need to include the -f switch
because it is assumed at that point.

I always create such icons on any system I work on, no matter if it is mine

[JAWS-Users] gold wave scrips

2017-03-26 Thread Kimsan
Hi,

I downloaded the goldwave scrips from the jaws-users.com scrips page. How do
I install them? Do I just paste them into the enu folder for the jaws
version I'd like to use?

It takes more than that to ruffle my feathers so to speak.

Never the less I do not know as of now as I am shipping out a system I setup
for a family member this morning.

Even though it is not true it does seem like there is another system sitting
on my desk often enough.

Let me add to the email earlier when asking for help. I made the statement

We don't know each other, I should've asked more politely.
I meant that statement in the other email as sarcasm but there was no way

I hope I didn't offend you, or rub you the wrong way.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] recording with jaws

Hi,

I would like to record a podcast of sort but I'm unsure of how to not have
jaws be heard during the recording of the podcast.

I'm using a windows 10 machine, I have audacity, total recorder and virtual
recorder to experiment with.

I'm at an understanding that jaws will need to run on another soundcard?

So, I have a sabrent external sound card, and during the recording I will be
wearing a logitec wired headset.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can perform the above with any of the
programs I've listed?

I hope none of the suggestions will include jaws in one ear via another
headset and the recording being done via another headset, as I only have 1
ear to work with as I'm deaf in the other ear.

Thank you for reading and for any suggestions.

Respectfully,

Which ever one you want, so long as jaws is coming over the headset it won't
get picked up.

I think I'm almost there, but when you say: "the microphone is set to be the
default recording device." Do you mean the USB audio techneca or the USB
logitec headset to make default under the recording tab.

You go to the jaws utilities sound card sub menu and direct jaws to the
headset. Leaving your internal card as the default play back. Also make sure
that the microphone is set to be the default recording device. That sounds
to me like the way to .

You're correct.
I also have an audio techneca microphone I can use as well, which I only
mention so people reading will know what all I have to work with.

So to have jaws come over the USB logitec headset so the internal speaker
will not pick it up, how do I accomplish this?
Do I go to sounds/play back or recording under CTRL panel and select the
headset to be the default and under also under the soundcard option and
select the headset as well to accomplish this?
I'm really digging total recorder, so I might be using it for my recording.
Since I just purchased the program last night, not sure if this program can
do things like goldwave/audacity as it pertains to mixing.
Speaking of mixing, when I was researching how to resolve my issue, I went
to the audio page, listened to your what you hear recording, but it was the
exact opposite of what I wanted to do. That's not my point though, I also
saw a power mixer tutorial on there and it sounded cool, and you can't beat
$17.95, but not sure how old that tutututorial was and if power mixer works
with windows 10.

Let me see if I understand you at this point. You have a headset, an
external sound card with speaker and the internal card in your system.

You want to record yourself but not JAWS. It sounds like if JAWS comes over
the external speaker then the microphone will pick it up. You might need to
have jaws come over the headset so the mike does not pick it up and other
sounds over the default card in your system.

I realize this might be difficult for your situation, but that is what it
sounds to me like what you will have to do.
