Re: [JAWS-Users] Image for Windows Question

2011-04-07 Thread Don Cher Bosch
I moved all my data to a second internal hard drive as I read about in the
archives; and have only the OS and programs on the C drive. I only have
regular DVD-R disks on hand, but am hoping that a disk will hold that much.
Have never done anything with DVDs beyond playing them, so am on new ground
here- and hoping to avoid earthquakes :)
Thanks, Cher

I haven't been able to reproduce it either, but then again it's not
something I have worked at very much. Never the less it does sound quite
interesting all right, with luck some find day I'll do it myself. BTW use
what ever speed to burn you like, just make sure the image verification
completes successfully.

on using David's DVD method as soon as I figure out the size needed and
learn how to determine which writing speed I should select. So, I'm pretty

I use Image for Windows to make a disk image of my internal hard drive.
I write it to a 2 TB external USB hard drive. I have Vinux installed on
a USB Flash drive with a live version of the VinuxOperating System on
it. In the persistent storage, I install Image for Linux. This
provides me a Rescue device that provides speech all of the way
through. I can use Image for Linux to restore the disk image. It also
has lots of Linux recovery tools.

If it all doesn't fit on a single disk then the program will prompt you to
insert another disk until it is finished. Then during the verification
process you will need to insert what ever disk it wants to complete the
process.

2011-04-07 Thread John M.

Hi Don,
Would you consider creating a podcast for setting up Vinux with Image for
Linux? This would be an incredibly valuable resource for so many of us. I
would be willing to pay for such a podcast. Or, maybe it could be a Thank
you gift for donating to the Vinux project.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Image for Windows Question

2011-04-07 Thread Don Marang
I am not prepared to produce podcasts. I have an old detailed set of
instructions on the Vinux Wicky for creating such a Vinux Rescue DVD. I
need to update a link or two.

I also will post detailed instructions to create a better, simpler Vinux
Emergency installation on a 4 to 8 GB USB Flash drive. I like this
better than the DVD because it has some persistent storage to save
settings and personal files. I will work on this today and should be
able to post the links here tomorrow.
