Re: [JAWS-Users] Info on current update

2011-01-27 Thread RJ
I have a 32 bit desktop and a 64 bit laptop. One is xp home edition and the
other is win 7. But using the update in help, both computers had a fit. Had
to uninstall Jaws 12 on both computers. Than on both computers, the demo
came up and froze both computers when trying to install the latest version.
After rebooting, and installing the latest version, both computers seem to
be working again. For now. If you have the same problem a uninstall and
going to the FS site and downloading the exe file and reinstalling the
latest version of 12 seems to solve the problem. Haven't had a chance to get
on the laptop and hope it works as well as the desktop seems to be working.
Does anyone know if FS improved the performance of Jaws for Window mail?

I just updated my jaws the other day. I first tried to run the check
for updates but it said that It could not install the necessary patch
file. I went to the fs website and tried it that way and it worked
like a charm so go figure.

My latest experience with the update. This mornigng I got a message
saying
there was a update. I installed it and than it happen. Couldn't get into
one

of the web sites I use that is a must. Than all the sudden my computer
wouldn't boot up right. Than I did a restore and than the computer
wouldn't

boot up. I than shut every thing down and was going to try to repair XP.
But couldn't get the computer to recognize my CD drive. Shut the computer
down and finely got the computer up and running and version 11 up. Tried
to

start JFW version 12.5 and everything stopped dead in its track. Got the
computer up and running with version 11 and uninstalled version 12.5.
Tried

to install version 12 exe that was in my download folder. Was told the
version was out dated and the window came up, saying that the 40 minute
demo
was up and the computer was dead. Started the computer with a cold boot
and

uninstalled the version 12.5 Turned on version 11 and went to the
FS site and downloaded the version 12.5 and this athist said a prayer.
The

computer than told me the 40 minutes demo was up. Guess the prayer didn't
work.
Started the computer over again. Went to the site of
F S and finely downloaded the latest version 12.5. Started to install
it,
and the message the 40 minute demo expired. Started the computer and went
to
the 12.5 exe and believe it or not, after 3.5 hours every thing is
running

like new.\
Now that is real service and I love it when the computer kicks into demo
mode, after paying out for a full version.\
LOL

Who couldn't run his computer without a screen reader, and so far JFW for

I am not running in demo mode. Won't tell you what I was saying, for this

a co-ed list.

I updated jaws v12 and all went well. But, (and this only happened once) I
rebooted the computer and it said that my timed evaluation expired
yesterday. I have seened the 40 minute demo message in v11 and v12 but never
this one.

Mike,

Thanks, I was there prior to my post and guess I just didn't
listen close enough for the link to go to what was fixed in
current update. I guess I need to be more patient, thanks
again for heading me in the right direction.
