It is always a good practice to save the file to your local system and then
install it.

When you go to the download for this program, do you save it to your
hardrive and install afterword's, or do you choose "run" when you are at the
download web site?
Thanks for this.

Hi Ann,

You probably need to install the compatibility pack available from the link
below.

http://www.jaws-users.com/programs/Productivity/FileFormatConverters.exe

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 and
2010 File Formats.
Open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the file
formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007and 2010.

After installing this I was able to open older docunents using Office 2010.
HTH

Take care.

Microsoft Office Word
You are attempting to open a file that was created in an earlier version of

your registry policy setting.
OK

Does anyone know where I can change this policy setting? I am using Windows

Thanks.

Registry.
I wouldn't advise messing around there yourself though,
Try to see if there is a program or a plugin from Microsoft that will
unblock this for you.
