Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws with Microsoft excel 2007

2010-03-14 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Ming,

The only way I have found to have the entire column or entire row read in
Excel 2007 is to list the data and then use a SayAll command on the list.
It doesn't seem very efficient but it will work. You list cells in the
column by using JAWS key with shift+c. You list the row entries by using
shift+JAWS key+R. Use JAWS key with down arrow when the list is in focus.
Unfortunately, the row or column coordinates are read for each entry during
the SayAll.

The column reading command is CTRL+JAWS key+up arrow. However, it only
reads the portion of the column that is on the screen and visible at the
time. It appears that the JAWS scripts are written so that only the part of
the column showing is read with the column reading command. I don't think
there is a command for reading the entire row except for listing all the
items in cells of a row using the shift+JAWS key+R.

If you select a column using CTRL+spacebar or a row using shift+spacebar and
then try using the SayAll command, JAWS will tell you there are too many
cells in the range and only the first and last will be read. JAWS will read
the first one and tell you the last cell in the column or row that is
selected.

I found no difference when I used different views in Excel. It appears that
the only way you can have the entire row or column read when data extends
into cells beyond the visible portion of the screen is to list them and then
use a SayAll command.

Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Microsoft Excel

Hi All,
How do I select only two cells in Microsoft Excel? I want to select the
cells F6 and G6. I am using JAWS 9 on a desktop and JAWS 6 on a laptop.
I looked
in the JAWS 9 help file and found something that said Select Region.
Would
this be the keystroke to use? Would the keystrokes be the same for JAWS 6
on the
laptop and JAWS 9 on the desktop? Both computers are running Windows XP
and they

both are running Microsoft Excel 2003.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

you can just press the shift key and the down arrow key to select those 2
cells and then copy/paste/cut them or whatever you want to do with them.

Goto will do this nicely. Press f5, or control-g for 'go to'. Then
type in the cell coordinates you want, joined by commas if they are
non-contiguous or colon if contiguous. To select f6 and g6, type
f6,g6. To select a group of cells, like columns a through e in rows
4 through 10, press f5 or control-g for 'go to', and then type

a4:e10

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Microsoft Excel

2009-04-21 Thread Elaine

hi

On a desktop if you press insert H it will tell you jaws keystrokes for
excel. this of course is within excel.

the laptop equivalent of insert is caps lock I think.

also insert W will tell you windows keystrokes for excel.

both keystrokes are available for all applications.

I think keyboard commands for selecting text is the same for both laptop and
desktop.

they are windows commands not jaws specific.

if you go in to the jaws help, you can find a list of excel keystrokes. I've
just done that to help me out with my course.

Hope this helps.

Elaine
