Have him try this. Open Avast with inset f11 and arrow down to update and
enter. arrow down once to programs and follow the prompt. Think all you need
to do, is be on program and hit enter.

hello there;

speaking of avast;
a friend of mine installed the avast5.exe, he's using windows xp, jaws11,
he doesn't receive no avast audio prompts.
for example;
after his avast does the definition updates, he only hears jaws say, okay
button, and the information is on the screen, but, no audio/sound from the
avast sound files.

if he goes into,
documents&setting, all users, then the avast folder/sounds,
he can play the files through windows media player,
however, the files won't play through winamp.
he's using the latest version of winamp.
also, the check boxes in avast/sound/settings are all check, even the
voice over is checked.

hopefully someone will have a suggestion why the sounds won't work?

If it is the free version and if you are happy with it, why not renew the
license

My husband's free version of Avast has expired. He's wondering, if he pays
to upgrade, how compatible Jaws 10 and 11 are with the program. Would it
be worth upgrading, or should we look for a different antivirus program?

Thank you,
Rhonda

Hi.

You should just be able to apply for a free licence again. if your
husband has been happy enough with avast, just install version 5 if you
haven't already from avast.com and register for a free licence again.
its accessible with jaws and useable enough.

Regards,

Mo.
