Norma,
Your folders are arranged in what Windows calls a tree. But, before you
can create a new folder, you first have to choose the option indicating that
you want to move the message to a folder. Once you have checked that box,
you will be presented with a list of your current folders. In order to
create a new one, use your up arrow to go to the top of the list and listen
for the root of the tree, usually your name. Then shift tab to where New
Folder is indicated. Press enter to activate that option. Type the name of
the folder. Confirm that it will contain mail or post items. Then tab to
Okay and press enter.

Using this method, the folder will be shown in your main tree display.
Be careful to always move to the top because you will inadvertently create a
folder within a folder. For example, if your focus is on the In box, you
can create a folder within the In box. Personally, I don't do that because
accessing those folders in Outlook 10 can be difficult.

This is very general but it might help to clear up some of the confusion.
Please feel free to e-mail me off list if you need further clarification.

Norma, to create a rule, while in the "in box" and on a message, I press the
application key and down arrow to rules. This puts me in the dialogue box
with a number of controls that deal with various parameters to make the rule
which I get to by tabbing through the dialogue box.
Hope this works for you.

Hi group,

I'm using Jaws 17 latest build with outlook 2010. When in the message rules
wizard, Jaws is not reading the list of items in the list boxes. I'm using
the wizard that comes up when I go to File then Info then I hit the "Manage
Rules and Alerts" button. I have created rules previously but I thought
there was a simpler wizard than the one I'm trying to use now. Sort of a
quick and dirty method that, as I recall, was more useable with Jaws.
Anyway, I would appreciate some assistance with this process, and thanks in
advance.

Best,
Norma

Norma,

I create a new folder independently with the shift-control-e shortcut before
setting a message rule. I believe a new folder can be created while setting
a message rule, but I find that dialog difficult enough. Doing the two steps
separately simplifies the procedure.
