Re: [JAWS-Users] Scanned Image and JAWS OCR
You need to follow that with: W key for current window detection or the C key for unlabled control or D key ,for, pdf document opened in adobe reader. Re: [JAWS-Users] Scanned Image and JAWS OCR
Jerry, I can't tell from your original post if you tried the conversion from a PDF file. Assuming you started with a PDF file, just open the file. JAWS may or may not be able to read all, part or none of it. Either way, stop JAWS from speaking with the control key, then initiate the OCR process with (as you know) JAWS key+spacebar, then o, then d. JAWS will tell you if the process has started or if it can't. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of jyandt.mar...@comcast.net Sent: Thursday, October 26, 2017 11:13 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Scanned Image and JAWS OCR Yes I did. Re: [JAWS-Users] Scanned Image and JAWS OCR
Jerry, Um, did you open it in Adobe Reader, or some other Adobe application? The "D" is meant for PDF documents. If this is a jpg or img or tif file, then you might need to use the "W" or "S" option in the OCR recognition. Re: [JAWS-Users] Scanned Image and JAWS OCR
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. You need to install the just-released public version of JAWS 2018 to take advantage of expanded OCR capabilities that allow you to scan documents using a flatbed scanner or Pearl camera and convert them into speech. Earlier versions of JAWS lack this feature. For more information on the JAWS 2018 expanded OCR function, see this article: http://www.perkinselearning.org/technology/posts/jaws-2018-and-expanded-ocr Gerald -Original Message- From: jyandt.mar...@comcast.net Sent: Thursday, October 26, 2017 9:17 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Scanned Image and JAWS OCR Morning all.
