Re: [JAWS-Users] Solve PC Issues

2013-06-11 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Donnie,
I have found that sometimes while in the system tray pressing Enter on the
selected item does not perform any action,
so you can try this alternative:
While in the System Tray, select the item of interest, and then tab to, left
double-click, and press enter.

Another way to open the Action Center to solve PC issues is:
From the search box in the Start Menu, start typing:
Action Center
when it pops up in the list, press enter.

In the Action Center, you can tab thru the options using the spacebar to
activate any of the buttons.
As in any situation on the computer make sure to maximize the window by
pressing Alt + spacebar, then the letter X
this will help in navigation, especially when using the Jaws cursor.
You may need to route Jaws to Pc , then page up, to start reading down one
line at a time thru the entire window for the necessary information.
In the Action Center, you can change the settings for when and what you want
to be notified about, such as:
User Account Control settings
Windows Updates
Backup and System Restore and other security features.

Additionally, Action Center notifications can be set not to show in the
system tray, but I would not recommend this.
HTH,

Rick Justice

Hi Rick David,

I was reading a tutorial by David Bales at;

http://goo.gl/uu3XW

In this tutorial he talks about using the, Windows Key + Up Arrow keystroke
for maximizing windows. Apparently in Windows7 you can invoke this
keystroke
on any window you want to maximize Windows7 will maximize the window
remember the setting so you don't have to maximize it again. This maximize
keystroke
only maximizes the window during the current session of the computer use.
You can also use the keystroke, Windows Key + down arrow, to restore the
window.
It won't remember the maximized window after a reboot or restart.
Take care.

hello;
the keystroke windows+up or down arrow has been known for quite some time.
considering it is a windows 7 keystroke.
if you want to have the internet open in maximized state,
go into the internet properties/shortcut page,
set run combo box to maximize, there you have it.
no need for the windows-key+up or down arrow.

Hi Rick David,

I was reading a tutorial by David Bales at;

http://goo.gl/uu3XW

In this tutorial he talks about using the, Windows Key + Up Arrow keystroke
for maximizing windows. Apparently in Windows7 you can invoke this
keystroke on any window you want to maximize Windows7 will maximize the
window remember the setting so you don't have to maximize it again. This
maximize keystroke only maximizes the window during the current session of
the computer use.
You can also use the keystroke, Windows Key + down arrow, to restore the
window.
It won't remember the maximized window after a reboot or restart.
Take care.

Hi Donnie,
I have found that sometimes while in the system tray pressing Enter on the
selected item does not perform any action, so you can try this alternative:
While in the System Tray, select the item of interest, and then tab to, left
double-click, and press enter.

Another way to open the Action Center to solve PC issues is:
From the search box in the Start Menu, start typing:
Action Center
when it pops up in the list, press enter.

In the Action Center, you can tab thru the options using the spacebar to
activate any of the buttons.
As in any situation on the computer make sure to maximize the window by
pressing Alt + spacebar, then the letter X this will help in navigation,
especially when using the Jaws cursor.

Additionally, Action Center notifications can be set not to show in the
system tray, but I would not recommend this.

the keystroke windows+up or down arrow has been known for quite some time.
considering it is a windows 7 keystroke.
if you want to have the internet open in maximized state, go into the
internet properties/shortcut page, set run combo box to maximize, there you
have it.
no need for the windows-key+up or down arrow.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Solve PC Issues

Hi Donnie,
I have found that sometimes while in the system tray pressing Enter on the
selected item does not perform any action, so you can try this alternative:
While in the System Tray, select the item of interest, and then tab to, left
double-click, and press enter.

Another way to open the Action Center to solve PC issues is:

From the search box in the Start Menu, start typing:

Action Center
when it pops up in the list, press enter.

In the Action Center, you can tab thru the options using the spacebar to
activate any of the buttons.
As in any situation on the computer make sure to maximize the window by
pressing Alt + spacebar, then the letter X this will help in navigation,
especially when using the Jaws cursor.

When I hit f11 to see my system tray, there is something there that
says Solve PC Issues (1 message). I can't seem to get anything out
of it when I enter. Could someone please tell me what this means? I
am using a Windows 7 64 bit machine and running JAWS 14.
Thanks,
Donnie

Hi Rick David,

I was reading a tutorial by David Bales at;

http://goo.gl/uu3XW

In this tutorial he talks about using the, Windows Key + Up Arrow keystroke
for maximizing windows. Apparently in Windows7 you can invoke this
keystroke on any window you want to maximize Windows7 will maximize the
window remember the setting so you don't have to maximize it again. This
maximize keystroke only maximizes the window during the current session of
the computer use.
You can also use the keystroke, Windows Key + down arrow, to restore the
window.
It won't remember the maximized window after a reboot or restart.
Take care.

Good advice, the fact is that search box is amazingly forgiving.

It is the Win7 Action Center. Perhaps you can go into the Action Center from
another direction like the Search feature or the Control Panel. I've been
working on the Action Center too because it is not very intuitive IMHO.
