[JAWS-Users] Wireless connection problem
Hello All, I have a Windows XP computer running JAWS 14. I recently got my computer tuned-up by a friend in a blind golf group. After the tune-up was finished, I noticed that my wireless connection keeps dropping on me. The amount of time I am connected varies each time. Sometimes I am connected for about 30 minutes. While other times, I am connected for about 2 hours. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this problem and how to resolve it? Please let me know as soon as you can. I will greatly appreciate it. Thank you. Brian A. Mackey Brian A. Re: [JAWS-Users] Wireless connection problem
Brian, The other thing you can try is to reset your wireless router and modem. You can do this by unplugging the router and modem for one minute and then plugging it in again after one minute. Sometimes, to the wireless router and modem just need to be reset. Give that a try and let me know how you make out. Re: [JAWS-Users] Wireless Connection
You can set it to remember that particular network, so long as you have it set to remember the network password, go to connect to... then go to the network your trying to connect to, it would normally be the name you had given the network then press enter on that, it should prompt you to enter the network password, then tab down, it should ask if you wish to have this network saved, press space on that button, I hope this helps, if you are still having trouble, I can sertonly try to help, you can call me on my Skype online number, if you have international calling with in Canada and the US, it is: 1 )209) 583-5790 Have a good day, Tim - Original Message - From: Graham Smith g.smith...@rogers.com To: JAWS USERS jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Friday, July 16, 2010 10:21 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Wireless Connection Hi Using windows seven, latest jaws 11 We have a network here and I have to connect manually everytime. Please can somebody advise me how I should go about connecting this new laptop to our network properly. Since purchasing I am connecting by using network sharing option, choosing my network and then connecting. However the laptop will not connect automatically like my old one. I have run the troubleshooter and from everything I read the problem seems to be that I have no prefered wireless device. I have noticed that there are two on this laptop and both are working correctly or so it tells me. Unless it was done automatically I have not actually added the laptop to the network. [JAWS-Users] Wireless connection seems to have disappeared both from laptop and netbook computer.
Good morning everyone: A few months ago, I had a friend of mine who's a softeware engineer and a computer tech, come over and install and setup a wireless connection on my laptop computer, as well as my netbook which was done from my desktop. As my desktop computer is just about 8 years old, I figured that if the desktop computer should ever quit on me, at least I would have both my laptop and netbook computers as a back up. We setup the wireless connection on these three computers through time warner cables road runner service and everything seemed to be working fine up until a few days ago. However on sunday, when i turned on my laptop computer too try and download my email, there was no wireless connection. What I want to know here, is it possible that the wireless connection could some how have been deleted? or just the email account which was also setup when we established on both the netbook and laptop computers. One more thing which I should note here, is that I'm able too get on too the net from the laptop computer, and probablythe netbook as well, but I'm just wondering if I'll have too resetup my email account on my laptop and netbook again, though I'm not sure as that's why I'm asking for advice and suggestions from members on this list. I'm using jaws 11, and windows xp home addition on all three computers. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] Wireless connection seems to have disappeared bothfrom laptop and netbook computer.
Hello Albert, Just first check whether it was not just disabled. On the laptops there are usually either a keystroke that toggles, or a wireless and Bluetooth button. You shouldn't have to re enter any email account settings. Re: [JAWS-Users] Wireless connection seems to have disappeared bothfrom laptop and netbook computer.
Hi Albert, This kind of thing happened to me about a month ago, and I am also an RR customer. Apparently, it was something on their end, but, indeed the wireless network was somehow deleted, and had to be reset. This involved a hard reset of the cable modem, and resetting passwords, encryption keys, etc. If you are adept at these things, telephone tech support can walk you through it, or if you tell them that you are blind, they'll send a tech to your home. This was the second time that this happened since I have been an RR customer. Re: [JAWS-Users] Wireless connection seems to have disappeared both from laptop and netbook computer.
On that missing connection. Does it see any other wireless connections? if not then wireless0 is turned off. Go start menu, run type services.msc Look for wireless0, right click on it and see if it says start or restart. If start then do that. xp has a issue with wireless connections sometime.
