Re: [JAWS-Users] Yahoo mail
The Yahoo mail you get from the front page is designed to mimic outlook and similar products. You can navigate through it using the arrow keys and single letter shortcuts. I don't find it very good. It tends to get hung up in some web netherworld and requires riding the tab key many times until you get back to the Inbox. I get around this either by going to Yahoo's mobile mail or by using the Mozilla Thunderbird mail client. Shari, that is what I and Candy have both found. You have to actually open the email, then you can go down to the delete button and it deletes it. When I login as you said, the application mode goes on so that has to be turned off using the insert and z. You can then find a list of folders, i.e. inbox, spam etc. but even though it said spam button when pressed it didn't go to the spam folder. When I pressed insert f8, it gave me options that had nothing to do with my mail. I wish my computer worked like yours. I am using windows 7, IE8 and jaws 13. Yes, I was using the mobile as was suggested on this list and it worked great. As of a couple days ago, I have experienced what you are now with the check boxes. You have to actually open each email and then go down to the bottom where the delete key is and delete it. It is a pain in the neck, especially when you are checking a spam folder where you just want to delete everything. They also had a combo box at the bottom for options where you could go to empty spam folder and hit enter and the whole thing would be deleted. They must be messing with that as well. Re: [JAWS-Users] Yahoo mail
Judy, i use Jaws key f7 to bring up the links on Yahoo mail, not Jaws key f8. I also use the mobile site m.yahoo.com. So far the only problem I'm finding is that after checking the checkboxes for messages I want to delete or send to spam, the buttons to carry out the functions won't do anything. I'm going to have someone sighted try it without Jaws on and then watch when I try with Jaws to see if we can come up with any ideas for a work around. [JAWS-Users] yahoo mail verification
I know that recently there were a lot of postings about yahoo mail, but I didn’t use yahoo, so deleted them. I decided to open a yahoo mail account anyway, but now, when I want to test my email, it asks for a mail verification number. I apologize, but how are we supposed to do this? Re: [JAWS-Users] yahoo mail verification
This may (and I would emphasize *may* for the moment) be one part of the two-step verification process that yahoo! et al. use to ensure that you are who you say you are. What is supposed to happen there is that they send an SMS text to your mobile phone (the number of which you would have given them when signing up and agreeing) having a string of numbers in the body which is a verification code that you type in when requested. - Original Message - From: Tom tclar...@gmail.com To: jul jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, July 23, 2013 1:25 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] yahoo mail verification I know that recently there were a lot of postings about yahoo mail, but I didn’t use yahoo, so deleted them. The other alternative is to fill in a CAPTCHA. Did you successfully create aa yahoo account, or not? If you did, then it'd probably be the two-step verification that I spoke of. Re: [JAWS-Users] yahoo mail
I've been a Yahoo mail user for many years. It usually works well with any version of JAWS. The following points may help: 1. At the top of the mail page there should be a link to activate mail classic. Click it since the classic version is the one that works well with JAWS. Yahoo will remember the setting. 2. When the mail page comes up, there is a link at the very top to turn off automatic refresh to help with screen readers. Select this also. Yahoo doesn't remember this one so you will have to click it every time you log in. 3. I have been experiencing some timing issues between JAWS and Yahoo so, when you are logged in, wait until JAWS starts reading the page automatically before starting to navigate through your mail. 4. I have had fewer problems with older versions of JAWS--10, 9 or 8 work well.
