Perhaps try going back to Adobe 7.0. It works pretty well with latest JAWS and lets you turn off that annoying automatic update feature every time you want to read a pdf doc.. This may not be what some want to hear, but I recently tried to read a PDF I received at work with JAWS 9 and Adobe 8.1. and it would not read, except for a few lines at the bottom that were scrunched together. I was going to try to see what Openbook could do with it, but as a last resort, I fired up Window Eyes, and, voila! It read perfectly.
