Re: [JAWS-Users] adobe reader 8.1

2008-05-14 Thread Don and Cher Bosch
Perhaps try going back to Adobe 7.0. It works pretty well with latest JAWS
and lets you turn off that annoying automatic update feature every time you
want to read a pdf doc..

Lenny,

I have noticed the same thing using JAWS 9 under Windows XP SP2 and SP3. I
have given up with Adobe Reader and have reprocessed all PDF files Under
Kurzweil1000 V11.2.

I am running the newest version of jaws with xp home sp3. The two times I
attempted to read a pdf document adobe 8.1 crashed when I went to close. At
that point jaws stopped talking. with some sighted help, I did send the
error reports to microsoft. Then jaws started talking when that task was
completed. Any suggestions.

Re: [JAWS-Users] adobe reader 8.1

2008-05-14 Thread Baracco, Andrew W
This may not be what some want to hear, but I recently tried to read a
PDF I received at work with JAWS 9 and Adobe 8.1. and it would not read,
except for a few lines at the bottom that were scrunched together. I
was going to try to see what Openbook could do with it, but as a last
resort, I fired up Window Eyes, and, voila! It read perfectly.
