HI Judy. Ah, no. qRead is for reading exclusively and you cannot edit pdf files using this programme. If the files are text and not images that you need to OCR, your best bet is to use Adobe Acrobat or Reader, I think. PDF forms do, I think, need some kind of adjustment from the developer of these forms in order to be accessible. I'm not too clear on what that is. I do know that most of the forms at my old work and also government-type forms work ok. I haven't had a lot of experience with this, honestly. As for file associations and such In Windows 10, use the search box and type "default". Or, you can find it inside "system settings". Here you can choose what programme opens each type of file that your OS recognises. Or most of them, at least. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro on this computer, so I don't know if it's quite the same -- but I saw this in Reader as well. Yeah, Windows 10 wants you to set all these things yourself it seems. It doesn't always work properly when programmes (like Winamp for instance) try to do it for you. Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachments being forced to open in Microsoft Edge.
If these are PDF files, they will open in Edge, because Edge renders PDF’s pretty well. If you want to use Adobe reader to read the PDF’s in, just press Shift+F10 or the applications key, and arrow to open with, and enter on Adobe reader. yes it helped but I had to go to the tools menu and then arrow down to options then press enter the dialogue came up which was the options dialogue then I arrowed over to Composition then tabbed once and landed on the general tab then I tabbed a couple of more times until I landed on check for missing attachments then unchecked it and then tabbed down to okay. so it is actually tools, options, composition, general then tab to check for missing attachments uncheck then tab to okay but I new what you meant Re: [JAWS-Users] attachments Hi Anna, tools, display, general, tab to where it says look for missing attachments and uncheck. tab to ok and activate. Thank you Mike. I think I managed, but I am not sure because there is a graphic number which I don't know if it means attachment. Theresa, Here is how that section should appear: It is divided into different sections, 1 through 3 I think. 1 Should be a list of 13 items, and For All Messages should be checked. Not When ther is an attachment. 2. This field should be left blank. 3. This field Name of View should read, Copy of all messages. No quotes of course. Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachments in Outlook 2010 Rich Text
Thank you for the suggestions. When I press Jaws+F7, no links show and Jaws recommends I press Jaws+F5. And we already know that Jaws+F5 does not work in Jaws 14 for Outlook 2010 attachments in an RTF message. Interestingly enough, when I press Jaws+Shift+W, the RTF message does not open up in a browser. Instead, a list of options pops up, and I can save the attachment using the save attachments option. This latter option likely is the best workaround yet. I asked Freedom Scientific for assistance, but have not had the time to work with tech support over the phone. When I do, I will let the list know the outcome. For sure, the function of Jaws+F5 changed in Jaws 14 within Outlook 2010. That useful keystroke works just fine in Jaws 13, but does not work in the latest Jaws version. Someone suggested that I get state government to do something about RTF messages. I appreciate that our choices are to change our own skills and technologies or to change our environments. Before insisting that the world change for me, I'd like to restore the functionality earlier Jaws versions provided. With the two workarounds provided on this listserv, I don't think I have to go to the extreme of asking everyone to refrain from using RTF formats in Outlook. Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachments in Outlook 2010 Rich Text
Attachments in Outlook 2010 messages formatted in RTF behave differently from those formatted in HTML or Plain Text. Jaws 13 used the keystroke, Jaws+F5, to create a list of the fields in RTF messages. This keystroke does not work in Jaws 14. Others on this list suggested two workarounds that serve the purpose. One involves cutting and pasting the RTF message body into MS Word and using Jaws+F5. The other involves Jaws+Shift+W, which usually opens up the message in a browser, but instead in RTF provides a menu for manipulating the message. The standard methods for accessing attachments in HTML or Plain Text messages will not work, including shift tabbing or pressing Jaws+A. I don't know why RTF messages are so different, but they are. I'll be sure to let everyone know what FS tech support has to say. I'm hoping the Jaws+F5 function will be restored. -- Jim Marks jimma...@mt.gov -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of david Sent: Wednesday, November 07, 2012 1:24 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachments in Outlook 2010 Rich Text hello there; when you open a message, if you shift+tab, do you hear the name of the attached file, and then 1of 2? if so, right arrow once to select the attachment, now press enter, you will have the choice to open or save etc. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Justin.Williams2 Sent: Wednesday, November 7, 2012 10:31 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachments in Outlook 2010 Rich Text Did insert a work? -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Marks, Jim Sent: Wednesday, November 07, 2012 10:35 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachments in Outlook 2010 Rich Text Thank you for the suggestions. Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachments in Outlook 2010 Rich Text
Yes, Outlook 2010 attachments in an RTF message are imbedded in the e-mail. I think RTF messages always imbed attachments in the body of an e-mail in Outlook. Outlook messages in HTML or Plain Text formats display the attachments in the message header. I sometimes had luck with the method described below for Jaws 13, but not for Jaws 14. It was hit and miss for me in Jaws 13 and earlier versions because the link is difficult or impossible to locate in some messages. With Jaws 14, I cannot see the imbedded link at all in an RTF message. -- Jim Marks jimma...@mt.gov -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Bissett, Tom Sent: Thursday, November 01, 2012 11:46 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachments in Outlook 2010 Rich Text Hi, Are these the ones that are not actually an attachment but rather the ones that are embedded in the email? [JAWS-Users] Attachments in Windows Live Mail 2011
Hello, I just started using this email program. I asked a friend to attach something to a message so I could see if JAWS identified the attachment. I was able to save the attachment, but JAWS gave no indication it was present. I have attachments checked in one of the options in the view ribbon. The ribbons are new to me so am still learning to work with them. Does JAWS indicate there is an attachment in this email program? Do I need to check or uncheck an option somewhere for JAWS to do this? I am using JAWS 13. Thanks. [JAWS-Users] attachments in windows live mail
Well, I just had to send an email with a document attached. It was a nightmare at first trying to locate the document under the insert tool. The document was in my documents and trying to find that folder and file with windows 7 was brutal. Toying I found a very easy way to accomplish the task. First alt I for insert then enter on file attachment. tab about 6 times to the search box and I entered *.doc The list of all dot doc files was presented and the file that I wanted was the first in the list. This made it much easier than trying to find my documents and activate the list. Hope this helps someone else. If you already know that there is an attachment you can just skip that last step, press alt-f and down arrow until you hear save attachments, press enter, if there are more than one attachment, press spacebar on the select all button, and press enter on ok to finish it out. Re: [JAWS-Users] Attachments in outlook express
HiJoJO Pablo, AVG Anti-Virus will do that if you have it configured to certify incoming email. When AVG certifies incoming mail, it causes Outlook Express to see the certification as an attachment. If you have AVG, open the Control Center, click on Email Scanner then at the bottom, click on the Properties button. In the Window that opens, click on the Configure button. Uncheck Certify Mail under Check Incoming Mail. Click OK and OK again, close the Control Center. Hope that helps. [JAWS-Users] Attachments in Outlook 2003
I seem to have changed some setting in Outlook 2003 by accident and can't figure out which setting to change. It used to be that when there was an attachment to an email received in Outlook 2003, I would hit insert+a to enter the attachements list. For about the last week, when I use that keystroke, I'm taken out of the open message. It seems that I recall there is a setting perhaps in security that I need to change.
