There sure is. It's called Jarte, and it is fully compatible with JAWS. It has a built-in spell checker and the ability to create and save templates, among other features. And its menus are straightforward and easy to navigate. I prefer it over MS Word 2007. jarte which can be obtained off my grab bag site(address/link under my name) its got a useable spell check thesaurus, and most of the features commonly used in word, but its sized more like WordPad and is designed specifically to work with screen readers there are others on the site but I think jarte will best fit your criteria!
