here you go straight out of my helpful hints:
go into control panel, tab to appearances and personalization, and enter on
it.
now tab to task bar and start menu. and enter on it.
now control tab to start menu tab, go to customize, scroll down to
control panel, and instead of display as a link check display as a
menu. You will get a list of control menu items.

2012-06-27 Thread David
No No No;
Checking list in the control panel is not the answer.
What you neede to do is;

1, navigate to the control panel,
Start menu edit box and type control,
You need to enter on control panel.

2, you most likely will land on a search edit box,
Tab once you should hear,
Category

3, press the spacebar,
Now you have choice,
Using the arrow keys,
Small icons,
Large icons,
Press enter on the small icons,
This will solve your friends problem.

I am using windows 7 with jaws 13 and it is easy for me to use the functions
of windows 7. I have a friend that is using windows 7 and jaws 12 but she
seems to have different features and screens seem to be layed out
differently. She is having difficulties. With the layout. For Instance,
When she goes into the control panel, it is layed out much like a a webpage
while, for me, it does the same but I can use first letter navigation.

My question is Does windows 7 have to be in a different mode or classic mode
for her to navigate its operating system more easily. Are there some
settings that she needs to change so she can have her computer set up either
like mine or a person that can easily use windows 7. She is willing to
learn windows 7, but, at the same time, is getting frustrated and wants to
go back to XP. How can I help her?

if you go to my grab bag site (url/link under my name) there is a download
of hints for windows 7 available, there unsensored still text conversions of
Emails, but they contain all the things that they will need, what things are
called now, where many of them are located, and how to do changes, and most
are coded by what is being done, such as changeing the apearence of the
control panel is noted with the pre-cursor control panel, ...

so on and so forth, there is also a second download that is full of
tutorials and/or resorces for learning the basics of windows 7.

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows 7 layout

2012-06-26 Thread inthaneelf

here you go straight out of my helpful hints:
go into control panel, tab to appearances and personalization, and enter on
it.

now tab to task bar and start menu. and enter on it.
now control tab to start menu tab, go to customize, scroll down to
control panel, and instead of

display as a link check display as a menu. You will get a list of
control menu items.

When she went into the view menu, it says that everything in that list is
unavailable. Any other suggestions?
