Hi Cher,

I don't recall if this setting was discussed so, if it was I apologize.

1. After opening Adobe from your desktop or start menu shortcut, go into
preferences with control-k. JAWS lands on an item in a tree view.
If you have been here before, it will be the item you last opened. Arrow
down or, use first letter navigation to get to, Security Enhanced. Note that

this is the item below "Security."
Then uncheck these 2 options, the 2nd option is not necessary to uncheck
but, optional:
Enable Protected Mode at startup, needs to be unchecked.
Enable Enhanced Security, does not need to be unchecked. Now, tab to, Okay,

& press enter to save your change & close Adobe preferences.
Note. When making changes in the Security Enhanced section, you will be told
that Adobe needs to be restarted.

Take care.
Mike

2014-03-29 Thread Mike B.
Hi Al,

If it's just a definition update the settings should stick but, when the
Adobe program updates from Adobe XI/ 11 to Adobe XII / 12, the settings
might have to be reset like when Adobe 9 updated to 10 &, 10 updated to 11.
It seems like in each change of Adobe whole numbers they find a way to
screw with us! LOL, hahaha hahaha hahaha, LOL
Take care.

Mike,

Are these onetime settings or each time Adobe is updated? I vaguely
remembe3r making these a couple of years back but I know Adobe has
been updated to newer versions since.

Best,
Al

Re: [JAWS-Users] Adobe Reader XI and JFW

2014-03-29 Thread Don & Cher
Mike- thanks, thanks, thanks. I appreciate very much that you read and
understood the question. I had been skipping the set up assistant and doing
the quick method because in the older Adobe versions that worked well. I did
not know that they've hidden the open in browser option inside. I still
don't understand what the browser settings under Preferences are supposed to
do since they've changed the wording. I followed your directions and hope my
problems will now be solved. Adobe XI has just been sitting there instead of
automatically processing- seemingly waiting for someone to select the
'Start' button which is not in the tab order and not easily navigated to
with JAWS.

Thanks again.
Cher

Using latest JFW 15 and IE11- Yep- there used to be, but it seems to have

in
a browser or not- guess we shall see.

Do you have adobe XI resident on your computer? If so, just click on
the desktop icon and hit Control K. Will take you to preferences.
There should be a choice of whether to show adobe pdf's in the browser.
