Kelby, the instructions I posted do not give you unformatted text. They allow you to replicate the source from which you're copying. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of kelby carlson Sent: Thursday, July 21, 2016 7:02 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Selecting Text in Firefox I don't want to paste unformatted text. i don't know how much clearer I can state this, but I want to copy over text from Firefox, paste it into a document and have the text retain its original format from the webpage. With all do respect, everyone is simply trying to assist and the CTRL alt v also allows you to coppy formatted text as is, unformatted text and html. Since you are pasting from the web, and want to preserve the formatting, I would select that option, the html option to see if that'll meet your expectation. If unsuccessful, I'd say just do it using IE since IE works in this case, and not ff. If firefox is not working for you and you are more successful completing this task, why stick to using ie for this task. Mike, This is actually the opposite of what I'm trying to do. i am trying to retain formatting when I copy from Firefox, but as of now JAWS will not do this when in Firefox but will in IE. Re: [JAWS-Users] Selecting Text in Firefox
Hi, A resounding yes! You can do that in Firefox just as much as within IE. I wanted to tell everyone that I am using the portable version of the latest version of Firefox, running from my flash drive, and it works just as well as the installed version of Firefox for what I do at least. I was able to play YouTube videos with it and everything. Nothing is on your computer. All favorites, settings, and everything else is saved on your flash drive, and you can use this on any computer if you have your flash drive with you. Remember that Firefox is the best browser for using Google Docs and Google Sheets. You can use Google Drive by itself on any browser. Take care, I was just so excited that the portable version works just as well, because I am using a tiny computer with a SSD drive of 32 gigs, so I only have so much room. I am also running a PDF reader portable, so I do not have to have that installed on my computer either. A good link with all portable software is: www.portableapps.com I believe that is right. There are hundreds of accessible apps on there that you can install to your flash drive and run the program from there. Yes you can sure copy like you described with Firefox. Re: [JAWS-Users] Selecting Text in Firefox
Hi Kelby, Firefox makes an Add-on called, Copy as Plain Text, that you can install. Removes formatting from copied text. About this Add-on Have you ever copy & pasted something into your email or office program and been annoyed that the text formatting (bold, font size, etc) came with it? Don't you wish you could just copy the text itself, without having to copy it, paste it into a plain text editor, then copy it again? This extension gives you an option to copy text without the formatting. And unlike the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+V), you can even customize how it will copy & paste. Take care.
