2004-01-20 Thread Scott M Stark
What is the status of the unit tests in the jmx module as opposed to the
unit tests in testsuite/.../jbossmx? There are more tests in the jmx
module, but there are a fair number of errors. The 3.2 branch tests
for serialization are totally broken. Are the jmx modules tests being
maintained, and what is in the testsuite module vs the jmx module?

The serialization tests in the 3.2 branch are totally broken.

2003-02-16 Thread David Jencks
there appear to be problems with the InvocationResponse and cmp2 in jb4.
Quite a few (e.g. cmp2 commerce) tests are failing apparently due to an

2002-11-03 Thread julien viet
forum people,

I have updated forums with security concerns.

If you are using 3.0.4 :

It are using a login-config that you have to set up
before running it. The snippet is in the class
forum_home/src/main/org/jboss/forums/security/SecurityService.java.

If you are using HEAD :

1.You can use SecurityService.java instead and
therefore
uncomment code, it sets up the login config at deploy
time by
calling XMLLoginConfig mbean.

2.Also you have to changes stuff in
forum_home/src/resources/merge/jboss-container.xml
and switch the interceptor stack configurations.

I will detail more tomorrow in "forum on jboss" about
roles, etc...
(because forums are offline now)

julien

to me, I currently have within my reach the sum

in your company. This money came as a result of a payback contract deal
between my husband and a Russain firm in our country's multi-billion
dollar Ajaokuta steel plant. The Russain partners returned my husbands
share being the above sum after his death.

Presently, the new civilian Government has intensified their probe into
my husbands financial resources which has led to the freezing of all
our accounts, local and foreign, the revoking of all our business

and the arrest of my first son. In veiw of this I acted very fast to
withdraw this money from one of our finance houses before it was closed
down. I have deposited the money in a security company with the help

Due to the current situation in the country and government attitude to

2001-11-29 Thread Scott Sanders

I just downloaded the latest (JBoss-2.4.3_Jetty-3.1.3-1.zip) and
installed it yesterday. I had previously set JBoss/Tomcat (2.2, I
think) with my webapp, and I wanted to update to the latest. I setup my
webapp (a war file) and datasources (I am using the Database
authentication).

I started JBoss and everything deploys correctly. Trying to view a
protected resource in my webapp, I am asked to authenticate, I login
with my username and password, and I get a classcast exception (String
instead of Principal). I just saw Scott Stark comment on a bug report
saying that an older Jetty did not pass the Principal object, but
barring RH, I believe I am running the latest JBoss/Jetty distro.

What can/should I do to get this working?

Also another question, I was looking for the documentation that I had
previously consulted to get JBoss/Tomcat running, and the documentation
on the website talks about RH, which is completely different
(datasources, etc). Where can I find documentation for 2.4?

Thanks in advance,
Scott Sanders

David Jencks,

I've got a deployment question for you. I just finished adjusting MQ's
MessageCache so that it uses a CacheStore interface to store/load/remove
messages from secondary storage. We should be able to get some performance
gains by having the PersistenceManager implement the CacheStore. Persistent
messages have already been persisted and do not need to be persisted a
second time by the CacheStore methods.

The problem is that the PeristenceManager has an mbean dependency on
MessagesCache and MessageCache has a mbean dependency on CacheStore. So if
we have the PersistenceManager also be the CacheStore, we would have a cycle
in our dependencies. Do you see a way around this??

Hiram

Sounds like exiting stuff. Did you not mention some time ago that this
also would lay the foundation for clustering of JBossMQ - wich would be
really neat to have.

In my view we have a beta2. Several new features, a lot of bugfixes, and
few that actually have run it: beta2.

Will you only make a stand alone release or will it also be integrated
into JBoss 2.4?

Hi Guys..

I've been working on a cache layer for JBossMQ and it's about 95% done.
What will this change in JBossMQ?? Well, it will allow you to send it
larger amounts of messages/larger messages with out running into Out of
Memory problems in the VM. The cache only kicks in when memory usage is
high, so if your clients are consuming messages fast enough you will see ~ 0
performance hit since the message will not be swaped out to disk. If your
messages end up sitting on the server for a long amount of time, you have
good chance it will get swapped to disk (unless you have alot of memory).

Anyways, this change touched alot of files so I would like to cut another
JBossMQ standalone release before I commit this big change. How do you
folks think. Do you think the current head is ok enough to be labled
JBossMQ 1.0.0 stable?

Regards,
Hiram

It would also break doing things like.

url.openStream()

Cause it does not expect the file url to be URLEncoded.

This should be a seperate Patch or Hacks mbean that should not be enabled
by default as it is using private sun classes. Add the use of the mbean to
the
FAQ on "JBoss won't run when installed in a path with spaces".

Re: [JBoss-dev] (no subject)

2001-08-25 Thread Dain Sundstrom

Can we just construct the url by hand before it is loaded into the class
loader?

Here is the code for toURL()

public URL toURL() throws MalformedURLException {
String path = getAbsolutePath();
if (File.separatorChar != '/') {
path = path.replace(File.separatorChar, '/');
}
if (!path.startsWith("/")) {
path = "/" + path;
}
if (!path.endsWith("/") && isDirectory()) {
path = path + "/";
}
return new URL("file", "", path);
}

We then just write a new function to do a toURL with the last line changed
to:

return new URL("file", "", URLEncoder.encode(path));

Of course this only works if we control the code that constructs the url.

Re: [JBoss-dev] (no subject)

2001-08-25 Thread Hiram Chirino

Well, if it's leaving the VM the code base should be going through the
WebService. The WebService URL will not have a space in it, plus it will
not be a file: URL and will not be affected by the Fix below. I think
that's why the JRMP test suite was not failing.

How about we install this fix via an MBean (maybe the info mbean) into the
VM. We run the testsuite against it and see what happens.

Hey, at least it should not not make things MUCH worse, jboss is allready
screwed if installed on paths with a space.

Hiram

Ok.. if finished that workaround. I don't know if it will break anything
else, but at least it fixes our test case. To use it, add the following
line to the top of the tstMO main() method.

   FileURLSpaceFixer.install();

below is the FileURLSpaceFixer.java file.
-
import java.net.URL;
import java.net.URLStreamHandlerFactory;
import java.net.URLStreamHandler;
import java.net.URLConnection;

/**
* Used to fix the problem with the RMI classloader for
* when a space appears in the path to where a class
* should be loaded from.
*
* @author: Hiram Chirino
*/
class FileURLSpaceFixer {

   private static FileHandler fileHander= new FileHandler();
   private static CustomURLStreamHandlerFactory
customURLStreamHandlerFactory= new CustomURLStreamHandlerFactory();

   //
   // This class is used to hook into the URL protocol parsing sysytem
   //
   private static class CustomURLStreamHandlerFactory implements
URLStreamHandlerFactory {
  public URLStreamHandler createURLStreamHandler(String protocol) {
 if (protocol.equals("file"))
return fileHander;
 return null;
  }
   }

   //
   // This class will override how the file handler is implemented.
   //
   private static class FileHandler extends
sun.net.www.protocol.file.Handler {

  // When we externalize the URL we want to make all the spaces in the
file name
  // a '+' character
  protected String toExternalForm(URL u) {
 String s= super.toExternalForm(u);
 return s.replace(' ', '+');
  }

  // When we load a URL in we want to convert all the '+' characters in
the file name
  // into spaces.
  protected void parseURL(URL u, String spec, int start, int limit) {
 super.parseURL(u, spec, start, limit);
 setURL(u, u.getProtocol(), u.getHost(), u.getPort(),
u.getFile().replace('+', ' '), u.getRef());
  }
   }

   // use this method to install this fix.
   public static void install() {
  URL.setURLStreamHandlerFactory(customURLStreamHandlerFactory);
   }
}
-

Re: [JBoss-dev] (no subject)

2001-08-24 Thread Hiram Chirino

I think if found a possible workaround...
It involves using the URL.setURLStreamHandlerFactory(..) method to implement
custom Protocol handlers for file and jar.
We just encode the URL ' ' with '+''es..

I'm going to clean up a bit and post some source in a little bit..

Hiram

I also ran the TestDynLoading tests against my server install that has the
space in the path and it passed without errors.

Seems like I'm doing something from the servlet that is causing problems.
I'll see if I can create a small test case to test out with.

The error happens when I access a servlet that does a JNDI lookup of the
home interface of a session bean. (The lookup is done against the ejb's
global reference).

The servlet and ejbs are being deployed together in an ear. I'm also using
Jetty.

Re: [JBoss-dev] (no subject)

2001-08-24 Thread Scott M Stark

On the side of the RMI connection that is receiving the class that needs to
be
downloaded you should see a msg like:

[junit] Fri Aug 24 11:17:02 PDT
2001:loader:main:LoaderHandler.loadClass: lo
ading class "org.jboss.test.jrmp.ejb.AString" from
[http://succubus-si:8083/WebClassLoader@7150347/]

These msgs are coming from the org.jboss.test.jrmp.test.TestDynLoading unit
test
with the RMI debugging options set. I have run this as well as the bank test
with JBoss2.4.0
in a directory with a space: G:/tmp/Space Here/JBoss-2.4.0 and these both
run fine.

What are you trying to do when this failure occurs?

That 212 line number in HomeProxy turns out to be:

208:public void readExternal(final ObjectInput in)
209:throws IOException, ClassNotFoundException
210:{
211:super.readExternal(in);
212:ejbMetaData = (EJBMetaData)in.readObject();
213:}

I guess we are trying to deserialize that ejbMetaData object and that
LoaderHandler class is trying to load in a class but, a space in one of the
it's path entries is screwing it up. Anybody know how the paths that
LoaderHandler uses are set up???

If this is an RMI call, shouldn't it be using the WebService to load it's
classes??? Why is it trying to use deployed jar to load the class
(tmp/deploy/Default/lib1003.jar) ???

Regards,
Hiram

This is coming from the RMI codebase. Try adding this
-Dsun.rmi.loader.logLevel=VERBOSE
to your server and client command line to see where it is coming from.

Additional rmi debugging flags that may help are:
-Dsun.rmi.log.debug=true
-Dsun.rmi.transport.logLevel=VERBOSE
-Dsun.rmi.transport.tcp.logLevel=VERBOSE
-Dsun.rmi.server.logLevel=VERBOSE

This isn't the first request for this functionality that I've seen.

The JCA-based pools are theoretically capable of supporting this.
See org.jboss.resource.security.PrincipalMapping in jbosscx (or
connector or something, dang newfangled module system). You'd
need to implement a mapping that returns a different resource
principal for each caller principal.

2001-08-17 Thread Bill Burke

Or you could have different bean per datastore. Same class files but
different deployment descriptors and register the homes under different JNDI
names.

if (username.equals("Elison"))
{
   MyBeanHome home = (MyBeanHome)new
InitialContext().lookup("MyBeanOracle");
   MyBean bean = home.create(blah blah blah);
}
else if (username.equals("Gates"))
{
   MyBeanHome home = (MyBeanHome)new
InitialContext().lookup("MyBeanSQLServer");
}

Just an idea.

use BMP and access your datasource by name based on the user,

or write that code for CMP you are the first to require this.
