Jenkins Maven repository server supports multiple upstream projects?

2016-03-24 Thread Hez
Hi

It looks like the Maven repository server only allow us to configure one
upstream project.

Imagine that I have a project C, which has dependency to project A and B.

How can configure the Maven repository server to take the last successful
build from project A and B?

[GSoC2016] Support core plugin improvements

2016-03-24 Thread Ігор Яценко
Hi all,

I am 5rd year undergraduate student in Software Engineering of Kharkiv
University of Radio Electronics, Ukraine.
I have 2+ years experience in Java programming and software engineering.

I have worked with Jenkins on a few projects, and I think it's "must have"
tool for any team.
I like Jenkins, because it's very simple but also very power, and with
additional plugins I can build project ecosystem around git+jenkins.

I am really want to participate in GSOC 2016 and really interested in above
projects,

I know, I writing it, so late, but I hope "to catch the last train out of
town":)

Please, give me advice about proposal. What should I add?

It is possible to get project ideas from the previous discussions in
mailing lists.
Of course, it's highly recommended to try Jenkins and to propose some
personal ideas, but I doubt you can do it in time. We are also do not plan
new Office hours with mentors before the deadline.

Maybe Michael would help since he has a good TZ overlap

When Custom Tool plugin requests a tool home directory, all the
installation happens automagically. It happens here

Re: GSoC2016

2016-03-24 Thread Baptiste Mathus
Welcome Ashish,

Though it's not *too* late yet, beware that the deadline is in less than 24
hours (25 March 19:00 UTC). (see
https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/timeline)

If you wish to go forward, you still have to write a proposal, and submit
it on the GSoC website before that deadline.

If you post your proposal here, we may be able to review it, though there's
less and less guaranty for that since time is running out.

Cheers!

Best Practice for Resolving User Supplied Build Parameters Used in Plugin Textboxes

2016-03-24 Thread Jimmy Ray
So, I am writing a build step plugin that has several textbox fields for
configuration. I need to let users create entries in these textbox fields
that come from build parameters when this plugin is used in a Parameterized
Build. So, I would have jobs configured with ${...} values embedded in the
textbox field strings. What is the best practice for accessing/parsing
these build parameters from within the perform() method of my plugin? For
example, I can access the build parameters via
the build.getBuildVariableResolver().resolve(...) method. Is that the best
way? Should I parse the string from between the ${...} braces, or are
there helpers or extension points that are already built for this purpose?

-Jimmy

Re: Git branch handling leading up to 2.0 release and the end of the Jenkins 1.x line

2016-03-24 Thread Daniel Beck

If they are intended to make it into 2.0, the '2.0' branch. If they are
intended for 2.1, 'master' from next Wednesday on. (Or maybe build on top of
2.0, file against master now, and link to the 'real' diff without all of 2.0 in
the PR description.)

Because there's a whole bunch of unusually large changes and a lot of attention
on the final version. So I'd prefer we don't mess this up.

> Is this a new process going forward

No. We're going back to regular weeklies after the 2.0 release. (And I really
hope this is the last release like this for a long time, another 11 years would
be fine with me.)

It will also not disrupt the LTS schedule: We're scheduled to choose a baseline
in July. It is very likely to be a 2.x, but that's just because by then the
releases of the previous ~10 weeks will have been 2.x.

I don't see how this is remotely practical given the scope of changes that went
into the 2.0 branch. So if you held off reviewing things and filing issues
until now, please do so now.

> - otherwise I would have probably been a lot more diligent / rigorous on code

There are some known issues with some of the changes in the 2.0 branch that
need to be fixed before 2.0 RC. Those have been filed in Jira. But other than
that, everyone had plenty of time to comment on the the PRs.

This is the tests failing not maven and the amount of memory they are given

Re: Git branch handling leading up to 2.0 release and the end of the Jenkins 1.x line

2016-03-24 Thread James Nord
So where do fixes to the 2.0 go? Master and cherry-picked or 2.0 and
merged down.

I'm not sure why this is being treated differently from an LTS - which I
would guess 2.0 would be - otherwise why does it need stabilization - it's
similar yet different... If it's not a LTS version (as the next LTS
version has been choses and it wasn' t 2.0 why is this extra needed - how
is this different from weeklies?) Is this a new process going forward etc
etc...

IIRC it was also stated that there was going to be a code review of 2.0
before - I guess this is the initial merge 2.0 branch to master - is that
no longer planned/ being swept under the carpet? - otherwise I would have
probably been a lot more diligent / rigorous on code reviewing all the
changes going in.

Re: custom-tools plugin: adding support for 7z-files

2016-03-24 Thread Vincent Daburon
Hi,
In the javadoc, you could see :
https://commons.apache.org/proper/commons-compress/apidocs/index.html?org/apache/commons/compress/archivers/sevenz/package-tree.html

"The format is very Windows/Intel specific, so it uses little-endian byte
order, doesn't store user/group or permission bits, and represents times
using NTFS timestamps (100 nanosecond units since 1 January 1601). Hence
the official tools *recommend against using it for backup purposes on *nix*,
and recommend .tar.7z or .tar.lzma or .tar.xz instead."

Not sure, it will be a good feature for *nix OS.

Regards.

Looking for a plugin: "show git tag tree" or "run groovy script and show results on a project page"

2016-03-24 Thread Boris Brodski
Dear Jenkins-Team,

My goal is to show on a Job main page (or on some Job special page) a Git
"tree of tags", similar to

  $ gitk --tags --simplify-by-decoration

Put it simply: I would like to show all tags in a repository as a tree.

I thought about following two solutions:

1) Find/Write a Jenkins-plugin, that allows me to write a Groovy script and
output the result HTML to the Job main page (e.g. as a project description)
or output the result HTML on some new project-hosted page. Then implement
the functionality in Groovy.

2) Find/Write a Jenkins-plugin, that solves the task directly without any
Groovy.

Any suggestions on this?

Thank you!

Cheers,
Boris Brodski

Re: custom-tools plugin: adding support for 7z-files

2016-03-24 Thread Martin Hjelmqvist
Hello again, Oleg

I could use some more advice about how to integrate this feature.
If this 7zip-installer is added to ExtraToolInstallers, where in custom
tools plugin do you think I should call the 7zip-installer?
So far the tracks lead me to hudson.tools.FilePath where an if statement
checks whether the archive ends with zip or tar.gz.
Source (line 821 and 847):
https://github.com/jenkinsci/jenkins/blob/master/core/src/main/java/hudson/FilePath.java

Should I do any changes there as well or is there any other way to do this?

Sincerely,
Martin Hjelmqvist

 Hello,

I'm currently working on my bachelor thesis; Improve the Jenkins custom
tools installer. There is a need for a file format able to contain up to
100GB of installation files, since tar.gz and zip has a size limit of ~8GB
and ~4GB size limit respectively. The idea is to add support for the file
format 7z which currently has a size limit of 16 exabytes and also is
faster to unpack than a zip file.

Anything I should keep in mind when integrating the extension for this
plugin? So far I have developed code for unpacking a 7z-file through a
string file path, but not sure that will work in the end.
 Any thoughts?

2016-03-24 Thread justine . maxellon
hello
In my plugin I'm creating new suppage like http://(...)/jenkins/my-page. I
want to present there, among other things, list of nodes in slightly
changed form.
By now I copied file executors.jelly (I will be changing it later) to my
project and in index.jelly page I put code:

I see running build, it's name and I can get URL adress, but I don't see
its progress bar. Does anyone have an idea why? Please help me.
p.s. If "include page" is outside ajax I see "Unknown Task" instead of
build name/link

Hi Daniel,

thanks for taking care of us plugin developers, this is much appreciated.

Speaking for the Klaros-Testmanagement Plugin, which is still under active
development, can anybody please tell me what the preferred way of migrating
the plugin away from svn would be?

I am aware of https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Hosting+Plugins
but I think there must be better ways to achieve this without starting from
zero.

This (https://help.github.com/articles/importing-from-subversion/) might be
something Daniel, or I, could do as jenkinsci github organization
administrators.

At the end of the month, I will be shutting down svn.jenkins-ci.org

From the access logs it doesn't appear that there is any traffic going to
svn.jenkins-ci.org that originates from developers. If you are still using
svn.jenkins-ci.org we need to talk about moving your work over to GitHub

There are a few plugins still being developed in SVN with commits in the past
1.5 years.

* https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Serenity+Plugin
* http://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Klaros-Testmanagement+Plugin
* http://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/VncRecorder+Plugin
* https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/VncViewer+Plugin
* http://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/ImageComparison+Plugin

CCing their developers.
