You could take a disk to Office Max and get printing done. So I am sure that would apply now to a flash drive. Five years ago I took a book I wrote for my granddaughters, put it on disk, took to Office Max, and they printed it. Whether you think you can or you can't, you're probably right. Henry Ford. Printing Photos Using a Kiosk
Gerald, Many drug store type businesses have a kiosk where you can connect your flash drive or even your iPhone/android direct to the machine. A graphical display with touch pads then allows you to browse through your folders and files to select the images you want printed. You select the size and finish, enter your name and phone number, press OK a couple times, and hit print. Go about your other shopping and later visit the kiosk to pick up your print job. Re: Printing Photos Using a Kiosk
And of course, none of these print kiosks is accessible, right? They would have to have speech output at the least to make them blind accessible. There are two Rite-Aids, as well as a CVS and Walgreens in my neighborhood, and none of them has one of these high-tech kiosks. As long as the blindness advocacy groups sit on their fat butts and do little or nothing to address this growing problem of inaccessible print kiosks, subway fare-card vending machines and laundry-card vending machines, blind consumers will fall farther and farther behind their sighted peers. BTW, a few years ago, one of those laundry-card vending machines was installed in the laundry room of my apartment building, and when I asked the building manager whether it could be made accessible, he just laughed at me. Avira vs.AVG
For those of you who have tried both Avira and AVG, which one is more JAWS-friendly? I am more interested in ease-of-use and accessibility than superior anti-virus protection. I'm sure that both programs provide reasonably decent protection, so for me, accessibility is a more important criterion. I'm currently using MSE on my XP workstation, but my understanding is that database definition updates for XP users of MSE will be discontinued next month,so I'm looking for a free accessible alternative. RE: printer accessibility
In fact, yes Gerald. UPS and Kinkos along with those other stores will print for you as well. You provide them with the file (on a thumb drive). I think even coscto does it, but haven't used them. About it being cheaper...I'm not so sure about that. I would have to disagree on that point. The toner for my printer runs me around $75.00. This particular model doesn't do refills. Anyway, at $75.00, it's still cheaper than going to the store and paying something like 5 or 6 or more cents it is per page. Maybe if you print every blue moon, it might come cheaper in the long run, but I'm doubtful. -Original Message- From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-boun...@lists.the-jdh.com] On Behalf Of Gerald Levy via Jfw Sent: Saturday, June 27, 2015 4:10 AM To: The Jaws for Windows support list. Re: Avira vs.AVG
The best that I can remember was that one reason I left AVG was it was harder to use, probably in terms of accessability, but that was about eight years ago - way lot has happened in my life since then, might not be completely accurate memory. I'm sure that both programs provide reasonably decent protection, so for me, accessibility is a more important criterion. I'm currently using MSE on my XP workstation, but my understanding is that database definition updates for XP users of MSE will be discontinued next month,so I'm looking for a free accessible alternative. Hi, Rick. I can't guarantee that this will work, but try pressing the JAWS Key plus the number three on the number row. This is the JAWS Pass through key. After it says Enter Key To Pass Through, Then press Enter on the Button. This may work. Re: printer accessibility
Well, for instance, here, if you went to Jones Printing Company, they could do that; probably Office Max could too. It just seems to me that unless you never printed but once in a blue moon, life would be easier from many standpoints to have a printer at hand. Now in considering a new one for myself, we would seldom want photos printed, so that is one to consider out sourcing. It would seem to me that frequency of printing would make the difference. My husband designed a check writing program that works on my Microsoft Office file, so I even print checks. I don't use my printer every day, every week, but when we need it, it is at hand. -Original Message- From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-boun...@lists.the-jdh.com] On Behalf Of Gerald Levy via Jfw Sent: Saturday, June 27, 2015 4:10 AM To: The Jaws for Windows support list. office 365 with jaws:
Hi every one I am having a problem with jaws and office 365. The problem I am having is with outlook. Recently the college that i am attending clark state community college decided to move the student email accounts from google to outlook 365. I tried to use the arrow keys to navigate the menus and read the messages that are in my inbox and jaws is having problem reading them. After I signed in to outlook 365, jaws told me there was one application region and 1 heading and 2 links. Do I need to contact freedomscientific for them to fix this problem? Re: Survey Monkey
Ok, I take it back--sort of. I found a setting to choose classic design mode instead of whatever that beta design mode was that defaulted. In classic design mode, it's much more doable. Still a little querky, but the accessibility is definitely better in Classic mode. Re: Survey Monkey
Brad, This won't help, but will affirm...I tried to set up a survey using Survey Monkey a couple years ago for a college course, and ended up having a work colleague do it for me. It was very *not* accessible to set up the survey. Yes, in spite of it being easy to use to complete a survey, creating one is a very different matter. I don't know of any alternative, sorry.
