RE: Microsoft Office 365

2015-04-06 Thread Loreal Lavigna via Jfw
It works exceptionally well for me. I also have JAWS 16, Windows 7 64-bit
and the office 365 subscription. I have no complaints and things are
updated seamlessly in the background without my having to do anything.

Hi,

Does anyone know how MS Office 365 works with Jaws. I currently have Jaws
16 with Windows 7 64 bit.

Any thoughts on this will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

JAWS and working with headers/footers in Office 2013

2014-12-05 Thread Loreal Lavigna via Jfw
Hello everyone,

I've just taken on a new client for transcription who uses headers and/or
footers in some of their documents. I'm wondering can anyone give me a few
quick tips and hints on how to easily work with these in MS Office 2013?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm looking to do both with the headers and footers. I definitely need to read
them to be sure I'm doing a specific type of document, but I also may need to
edit them in future. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try! I really
appreciate it.

I'm using 2010, so it may be different, but I get to headers and footers by
pressing alt-n for insert, then h. After that, it's a case of arrowing,
 tabbing and pressing enter

JAWS and Function keys with Dell Venue 8 Pro

2014-09-29 Thread Loreal Lavigna via Jfw
Trying this again. I lost several emails from yesterday, and wanted to know
how to set it up so I do not have to press the FN key in conjunction with any
of the F keys like F1, F2, etc. in order to use them with my tablet running
Win8. I saw a post a couple weeks back about this but cannot find it now. Any
help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you in advance.

Re: JAWS and Function keys with Dell Venue 8 Pro

2014-09-29 Thread Loreal Lavigna via Jfw
Thank you so much for all of your help! The trick worked. The FN key plus the
escape key does indeed make my function keys work as they should normally. Not
only that, it also enables particular keys on my keyboard which are not
dedicated keys themselves, as this is a smaller Bluetooth keyboard with my Dell
venue eight Pro. Thank you so much for all of your help! I think I'm
reallygoing to love working with Windows 8.1 on my tablet, and in fact may even
upgrade to Windows 8 on my desktop possibly. It will depend on a number of
things, specifically whether or not I can do this and still use a couple of the
programs I do for my job as a transcriptionist. Thank you again for everyone's
help! I'll email again if I have anymore questions, which I'm sure I will. But
I'm really loving the new technology. Can't wait to see what jaws 16 final
commercial release at the end of October will have in store for windows eight
users of tablets.

Different computers make this change differently. Your subject line sounds
 like this is a Dell?

On my Del, which is now a year or so old, the function key change was in the
Windows mobility center. The function keys were set up to work with media,
and in the mobility center you could change them to standard. Whether that
is the case with your tablet, though, I don't know.
The mobility center was access with Windows key + x.
 good luck!

The dell venue 8 pro ran me about 248 roughly after taxes and before the
addition of the extended warrantee. This was for a 32GB model, with an
instant savings of about $50 if I recall right. I'll go back and find more
detailed information for you if you'd like.

Typically you can run narrator which is the speech package that's built in
to windows to get your computer up and running with no sighted assistance.
I believe it's as simple as doing a windows r then typing narrator Your
computer should start talking and you're on your way.

JAWS, Win 8.1, and Dell Venue 8 Pro 32 GB

2014-09-27 Thread Loreal Lavigna via Jfw
Hi guys,

Just got a Dell Venue 8 pro 32 GB tablet with Win 8.1 full installed.
Trying to learn the best way to interact with the apps on this tablet. Can
anyone give me a hand with a couple things???

First off, the mail client. Any tips, tricks, hints, etc. for navigating
and quickly changing settings in this app?

Second, the Facebook app. Same here, but it seems to be all tab navigation
or by way of the touch gestures. Right???

Next, has anyone had any success with the Netflix app, Audible app for
audible.com's audiobooks, etc?

Finally, does anyone have even a beginning list of apps that work well with
JFW 15/16 beta and Win 8.1? Thanks in advance!!!

It uses the UIA in JAWS 15 so that was the only to make it work.

Subject: Looking for a Jaws friendly duplicate file deletion software

Hello list,

Can anyone recommend a Jaws accessible duplicate file deletion software? I
came across one called Duplicate cleaner, but the Pro version is$30.00. I’ll
give the free version a spin, but I don’t know if it’ll be limited to where
it won’t serve my needs. I’ve got a bunch of audiobooks and other files that
for whatever reason have lots of duplicates. File name, file name 1, file
name 2 and so on that I want to clean up.

I’m not against paying for a program if necessary, but I’d rather not have
to shell out $30.00 if there’s a reasonably accessible option out there that
I’m not aware of.

Thanks,
