Yes, Kim. Here is what I did here. I escaped this message. Then I pressed
Control C. Then I went to Contacts and pressed Control V and Enter. It asked
if I wanted to add the contact; I said yes. I went back to Inbox, then back
to Contacts, arrowed down, and there you were. I deleted you, because you
were with the JFW list.com.

You say press escape to go outside the message though didn't you? I know
already actually how to ad a sender to my contacts, I was just interested in
this method, which isn't working for me...

you press Control C, which is to copy. Then you go to Contact and press

Your address is in my contacts, which I will delete, but my instructor

Also, did you try Paul's later suggestion of going to the From field?

That it's in the applications/context list means it's an MS control,

The good thing about the older harder way, I think, is a little more

Ann, I did as I was instructed yesterday - went outside your message,
hit Control C for copy, then Control 3 for Contacts, then Control V for

Your address is in my contacts, which I will delete, but my instructor

If it comes from the mailing list, I see that it copies the list. I checked
on this one of yours, and your address was not with the mailing list or in
the cc, although your name was. It seems like I had one that did have the
name and list. That was when I learned the first way to hit Control 1 to go
to the from line, then copy it, then take out less and greater signs, stuff
like that, then go to Contacts and put it in the regular way, going through
the fields entering name, then e-mail address.
Best from,

Carolyn

If you're in a message and hit esc, doesn't that put you back into the
mailbox list

Just to confirm, this works for me. The steps are as follows:
1. While in the list of messages (in your inbox or some other folder),
arrow

down to the message that you'd like to add contact info from.
2. CONTROL+C to copy the sender info.
3. CONTROL+3 to go to your list of contacts.
4. CONTROL+V to paste the sender info.
5. Outlook opens a new contact dialog, populated with the sender info
(name,

email address, etc).
6. ALT+S to save the new contact.
7. CONTROL+1 to return to your message list.

Very nice.

Ann, I did as I was instructed yesterday - went outside your message, hit
Control C for copy, then Control 3 for Contacts, then Control V for paste.
Your address is in my contacts, which I will delete, but my instructor told
me to practice what he taught, so I did that one. It definitely works in
Outlook 13 and is so easy! I hope it will work for you.

Best from,

Carolyn

I do SHIFT + TAB back to the From field. Once I get there, I hit the

It

RE: keystroke in outlook 2010 to add sender to contacts?

2015-08-21 Thread Carolyn Arnold via Jfw
OK, Keith. If I hit escape, I'm outside your message. So, right
there, I hit Control C; then Control 3 (to get to Contacts); then Control V
to paste in the new address. I think that in a list like this, it is better
to do it the old way to Alt 1 to the To field, copy it, start a new e-mail
just to have a place to get out the and and list stuff, just get yours.
But if you get an individual one, or you can even try with mine to Escape,
then hit Control C, then Control 3, then Control V. Then you'll have the
e-mail address. I did it with yours, and then deleted it; somehow or other I
deleted it twice, but it's out. Anyway, that is one way that it can be done
in Outlook 2013.

The good thing about the older harder way, I think, is a little more control
of the data.

Best from,

Carolyn

I went to Options and did not find that in 2013, move folder and a couple of
things, but not add sender; probably a way there too, I just didn't find it.

Cool, neat trick. Thanks for posting it.

BTW, I just went through the keyboard manager for Outlook 2010 and didn't
see a hotkey for adding sender to contacts, so I don't think there is a way
to do this with a single keystroke in stock JAWS.

Best option so far:
1. Alt+1 twice quickly to move to the from field.
2. Open context menu, then select add sender to outlook contacts.

OK, Paul, Joseph the Free Tech Guy taught me, and I tried it with yours to
be sure I got it right. In the Inbox, by the mail you got from the person,
Hit Control C for Copy. Then hit Control 33 to go to Contacts, and right
there, hit Control V. The e-mail address is there. Then you have to go
through the fields like company and all that until you can get to save or
OK, I forget, but you know what you do when you have put in the information.
Do that, and you have it.

I do SHIFT + TAB back to the From field. Once I get there, I hit the
application menu and select the add sender to outlook contacts option. It
works, but it'd be nice if there was a better way.

I imagine this would make a nice beginning JAWS script project. If I put
this together, I'll post about it.

RE: keystroke in outlook 2010 to add sender to contacts?

2015-08-20 Thread Adrian Spratt via Jfw
By the way, if you press alt-1 just once, JAWS will read the field but not move
focus there. Ditto for alt-2 (date), etc.

Thanks for posting this method of adding an address to contacts. Fortunately,
it works on my machine.

 Paul,

You can go right into the To field by holding down the alt key and
pressing
3 (number row above the letters) twice quickly. Each of the other numbers
1
through 6 take you into one or other field (1 for from, etc.).

What do you do to open Context Menu? Is that Shift F10, Applications, Alt F.
I tried them all, got no context, so have to show my ignorance.

Best from,

Carolyn

RE: keystroke in outlook 2010 to add sender to contacts?

2015-08-20 Thread Adrian Spratt via Jfw
Ann,

Just to be sure, did you use the applications key? The add to sender option
doesn't appear in the right-click menu. It's one of those cases when they
aren't identical.

Also, did you try Paul's later suggestion of going to the From field?

That it's in the applications/context list means it's an MS control, not a JAWS
command.

Add to sender isn't an option on my computer. Rats!
