I don't think it ever had. It was the world image that shared a controller
with the main map view, not the slippy map chooser.

I never used the world image chooser to be of any value (I use a Mac
- single button, no panning, no scrolling, since the
control-click-behaviour seems not to be interpreted) and used the
copy'n'paste coordinate-interface until I discovered the
slippymap-chooser.. - so I think you are wrong here. Nevertheless I
don't want to argue on this. I'd be a nice feature to have the
shortcuts as a fallback. = Ticket #2205

Cheers

The other alternative is to browse the main OSM map and the click the
permalink to get the correct location in the address bar. This can then be
copied and pasted directly into the bounding box window in JOSM. Note that I
normally find I want to reduce the zoom value after pasting by one or two
(zoom 9 is normally the lowest for me before the download area is too
large).

Hope this too is helpful.

Cheers

Andy

I found it to be pretty useless too. I tried zooming in but only got

Then you have to wait a bit for the map to get updated (higher zoom tiles to
get
loaded).

I just came across something: how do you zoom out on the slippymap download
option when you don't have a mousewheel? E.g. on a laptop?

Get a better laptop?

In the meantime, you can use the Map tab to select a larger area.
Perhaps not the greatest solution, but it works.

Did I just say perhaps?

Hi!

 download

My guess: you don't. In the good old days the slippymap-chooser used
the same scroll and zoom shortcuts as the editor does. I suppose it
was the shortcut-revolution that removed this feature.
