[JOYnet] Found a partner!
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus, Let me take this opportunity to inform you that by the Grace of God Almighty, on last Sunday the 2nd of February, I got married to Vidya. Infact, I asked to some of my friends in JY to pray for this special intention as i had only 35 days vacation. To tell you the truth, I felt the presence of our Lord in each and every step i took in this regard and He helped me to take decisions that perfectly executed His will. I also thank all of you in a very special way for your intercessions especially Dr. Jomon, Jesus Youths of Fujairah - Abraham, Shaji, Biju, Benny and the whole lot. Again, I request you to continue interceding for us for a happy married life in Jesus. Praise the Lord! [JOYnet] TODAY`S SAINT!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 9, 2003 St. Miguel Febres Cordero Confessor...(1854 -1910) Life: Francisco was the baptismal name of our saint who was born on November 7, 1854 at Cuenca,Ecuador. Born with a painful handicap of his feet , he was unable to stand until age five when he received a vision of Our Lady. At age eight he was miraculously protected from being mauled by a wild bull. In 1863, at age nine, he enrolled in a school run by the Christian Brothers, which Order had only recently come to Ecuador. Joined the Brothers at age 15. In fact he was the first latin American brother to make perpetual vows in the congregation. School teacher at El Cebollar School, Quito, a position he held for 32 years. A gentle, dedicated, and enthusiastic teacher. Wrote his own textbooks, some were adopted by the government, and used throughout the country. Wrote odes, hymns, discourses on teaching methods, plays, inspirational works, and retreat manuals. Elected to the Ecuadoran Academy of Letters in 1892, followed soon after by the Academies of Spain, France, and Venezuela. Conducted religious retreats, and prepared children for their First Communion. While in spain, during the anticlerical revolution, Brother Miguel saved the Sacred hosts from profanation which meant walking 8 miles with poor feet.Novice director for his house from 1901 to 1904. Sent to Europe in 1905 to translate texts from French to Spanish for use by the Order; worked primarily in Belgium. he died on 9 February 1910 of pneumonina at Premia del Mar, Spain, and buried there; grave disturbed during the Spanish Civil War, and his body found incorrupt; re-buried in Quito, Ecuador, his tomb has become a pilgrimage site . In addition to being a religious role model, Miguel is considered a national hero in Ecuador for his success in so many worthwhile areas. He was canonized by Pope John Paul II on October 21, 1984. COMMENT: People await to find situations, areas for doing something for God to be used by Him as an instrument. Our lives on this earth will become a successful fruitful only when we accomplish the will of ourCreator in each of our acts.Once our saint expressed *I give myself completelyto Jesus so that He can just use me as He wishes.I want every word I write, everything I read , everything I do at my desk and all my work in school to be done for the glory of God.* REFLECTION: The heart is rich when it is content, and it is always content when its desires are fixed on God. -Saint Miguel - With Yahoo! [JOYnet] Separate mailing list
Hi Mathew, I do agree with the suggestions in Mathew's mail. It is better to have a separate website or mailing list for finding life partners as those mails are of little use to others. We can provide a link in our site and/or a footnote in our mails. Those who are interested may subscribe to them as they see fit. As for me, I do not mind receiving job postings in my Joynet mails; rather I welcome it. I am willing to provide joynet with any technical assistance required for setting up a separate mailing list or website. Your friend in Christ, Thomas -Original Message- From: Mathew Joseph [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Saturday, February 08, 2003 2:19 PM To: JOYnet Subject: [JOYnet] About Job mails Hello all, Nice to see many people coming up with your opinion about posting Job mails in JOYnet. Thanks to all of you for your valuable suggestions. Before I come to the topic, I would like to share some history of JOYnet. This JOYnet family is now more than four years old. From the beginning of this group, the number of members has increased gradually. Many new people joined and many people who were members left this group...During this four years I got the opportunity to interact with many of these JOYnetters personally and thru e-mail. Almost all of these people have high regards for this fellowship and they all agreed that JOYnet has helped them a lot. But most of them had one common complaint about JOYnet. The number of mails is high. They find it difficult to handle too many mails. Many people told me that they un-subscribed from JOYnet because of too many mails. Many of them has limited internet access and they don't access mails daily. Many people access mails from a cafe.. Do we need to understand their difficulties? We need to think about it. Whenever a new person joins JOYnet, I get a notification mail. I have noticed that on an average, 5-6 people joins JOYnet daily. But at the same time many people leaves the group. Many times I got the feedback that the number of mails is a reason for their un-subscribing. Do we need to understand the feelings of these people? We need to think about it. This is the main reason (after some discussion in the past) we thought of having three different mailing lists. We have a separate mailing list called Prayer Net, [EMAIL PROTECTED] for sending our personal prayer requests. All the prayer requests received in this group is consolidated and sent to JOYnet once in a week. So, all the JOYnet members can pray for these 'prayer requests' and at the same time the number of mails is reduced since we get a single mail containing all prayer requests, instead of about 20 individual prayer request mails in a week.!!! Similarly, we have Parable Net [EMAIL PROTECTED] for sending more bible study materials, reflections etc. Those who can afford to receive more mails can join this group and benefit more. This way, again, the number of mails coming to JOYnet is reduced. At the same time people who have more internet access can get more mails thru parable net and make use of it !!! Similarly, one of the main needs of our youth is finding life partners. Bijoy is working on a web site to take care of this need of assisting our youth to find their life partners. Please pray for him and for this project. Some time back we used to receive some mails asking for help to find life partners.Once this web site is done, I am sure this need also will be taken care of. Also, the number of mails coming to JOYnet with regard to this need also will be reduced... In JOYnet, so far, we were having mails related to evangelisation, personal sharings of God experiences, JY news, good inspiring stories, discussions on bible topics etc. In short, mails which helps to build the members in Jesus and which helps to build the community and which helps in global evangelisation... Sharings about Jesus Youth happenings around the world is one of the main items here. Now, finding jobs for our youth is a very important need. I strongly support the point that we need to help our youngsters to find good jobs. Infact it should be one of our priorities too... Now, the best and feasible option is to have a separate mailing list or news group for this purpose. Once we have a dedicated mailing list for posting job openings, all of us can post those openings as and when it comes Those who are looking for a job can join this mailing list... Dear Pradeep, Stanley, Shaji, Shelton and Jinson.. why don't you start a new mailing list or a news group in yahoo groups for Jobs mails. Another option is to start a dedicated web site only for Job opportunites ... Manoj Jons has suggested that we can give a link to this new site from the main Jesus Youth web site. We have many people in JOYnet who are working with leading companies in India and abroad. We can post the job openings as and when it comes. So, friends, please take the
