SCRIPTURE SAYS: ONE DOES NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT COMES FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD. AM I PLEASING TO GOD? Ofcourse, everyone wants to please the Almighty GOD, the creator of heaven and earth. Everyone is trying their best in all the possible ways, in their own ways, to please GOD. So normally a question emerges, To whom do The Father Our GOD, The Son JESUS and the HOLY SPIRIT pleases? The LORD says, I AM PLEASED with those who are HUMBLE and REPENTANT, who FEAR ME and OBEY ME.\ Is. 66:2. HUMBLENESS : Happy are those who know they are SPIRITUALLY POOR;the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them. Mt. 5:3. Who is this spiritually poor (humble)? It is the one #61623; who knows that he/she is a sinner,weak and fragile by himself/herself and needs the Help of GOD, Power of GOD and Spirit of GOD to become good, to do good and remain good. #61623; who depends completely on GOD like a child. #61623; who is willing to move according to the will of GOD by his/her love, obedience and faith in GOD, like a child who is to his/her Father. Humbleness leads to sincere Repentance. Against Humbleness is Arrogance, Pride. Pride is odious to both GOD and MAN; injustice is abhorrent to both of them How can there be such Pride in someone who is nothing but dust and ashes? Our body decays evenwhile we are alive. Pride has its beginning when a person abandons the LORD, his maker. Pride is like a fountain pouring out sin, and whoever persists in it will be filled with wickedness. The CREATOR never intended human beings to be arrogant and violent. Sira. 10:7,9,12,13,18. Important cause for spiritual blindness is pride, conceitness. It is arrogance, uppishness that hinders REPENTANCE. REPENTANCE : JESUS said : The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of GOD is at the hand:REPENT, and believe the gospel. Who is this Repentant(with contrite spirit)? It is the one #61623; who repents that through his/her own sin he/she hurted, displeased and afflicted the JESUS,the GOD who is Love. #61623; who admit all his/her sin that have occurred through his/her own fault (in thoughts, words, what have done, what have failed to do)and not blaming, condemning others for his/her sin and trusting in GODs Love to wash away his/her iniquity and to get the absolution. #61623; who renounces all the sins and genuinely avoids the sources and inducements of sin. Persons with remorseful heart will get absolution. [ Lk. 24:47] FEAR GOD : JESUS said : Rather fear HIM that can destroy both soul and body in hell. Mt. 10:28. Have you sinned, my son? Do not do it again and beg foregiveness for your past sins. Escape from sin as you would from a snake, if you go near, it will bite you.Its teeth are like those of a Lion and destroy human lives. Sira. 21:1,2. PERFECT LOVE drives out all FEAR. 1Jn. 4:18. What it means to fear GOD? To fear GOD means, fear about eternal death that occurs if one purposefully commits sin and remains in the sin, deliberately renouncing the grace of JESUS, GODs eternal Love who really wants to save each of us. Persons #61623; who becomes PERFECT in GODs Love #61623; who CONSECRATES completely to GOD #61623; who becomes a CHILD of GOD will get freedom from this fear. OBEY GOD. JESUS answered, What GOD wants you to do is to believe in the ONE(JESUS) HE sent. Jn. 6:29. REJOICE always, PRAY without ceasing and Give THANKS to GOD at every moment. This is the WILL of GOD, your vocation as Christians. 1 Thes. 5:16-18. HE (JESUS) HUMBLED HIMSELF, becoming OBEDIENT unto death, even to the death of the cross. Phil. 2:8. Obedience to GOD, HIS Law should be persuaded by our sincere Love towards GOD.(Mt.5:20) How can we understand the will of, wish of GOD, to obey it? GOD speaks to us #61623; directly through Bible, HIS Commandments and individually to each of us #61623; through our parents, priests, elders, teachers, friends etc #61623; through situations, conditions and circumstances which may be that of Happiness like wedding, birth of a baby, victory etc, or that of deep sorrow like disease, death, failure etc. To hear GODs voice, what we should have is a sincere aspiration and a heart eager to hear HIS voice and willingness to obey HIS wish. To distinguish GODs voice, what we want is knowledge of GOD(Hos.6:6, Prov.27:11, James 1:5) And finally, a question remains for each of us to ask oneself: AM I PLEASING TO GOD? [JOYnet] A different approach to Fasting
Dear my frieds When we think about Lenten fasting, what would be first coming up in our mind, yes, ofcourse, will give up meat, milk, fish, egg for the season, isn't it ? OR avoid a food for one time in a day, I think most probably next time will eat double, to cover-up the previously avoided food (including me), right ? Yesterday, When I was coming back after our weekly prayer group meeting in Al Quoz, I was alone, suddenly Jennifer's mail come to my mind, I was thinking, about my lenten fasting. I do fasting, but, what I am doing, some times I am speaking to others with angry, OR blaming others and laughing at them with friends, OR discouraging others through our talks and avoing others, OR complaining about friends or colleges. Did you think what would be the outcome of my fasting ? you can say in one word, nothing. I just lost my helth for nothing, and earned only the sin by hurting others, Isn't I think it is right that Jennifer said, our fastings should also be from anger, judging / blaming / complaining others, but can increase our love towards others whom it is really needs. And I remember the word of God which we read for Tuesday (11.03.03 - Generosity) Give, and it will be given you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure your get back. (Luke 6 : 38) I am sure, this indicates not only the money or any materials what we give others, but also through for our behaviour, talks and prayers too. my small thoughts on lenten fasting. 13TH MARCH 2003 ST EUPHRASIA VIRGIN ( a.d 380--420) ;LIFE: Euphrasia was a daughter of a senator of constantinople( Turkey) Antigonus, who died shortly after her birth.He was related to the Emperor Theodosius I , who took the widow and the child under his protection.As the custom ,Theodosius arranged a betrothal for Euphrasia , at the age of 5, to the son of a wealthy senator.The widow went with Euphrasia to Egypt where they settled down near a convent of nuns. [JOYnet] On Film songs VS Devotional songs.
Hello family, I come from a family where music is there in every thing...my dad could identify any ragas and many of my aunts and cousins are still singers in many All India radio stations.All our family gatherings were times of extensive music (carnatic ) sessions and classical dance.My siter also sings well. Me and my mom were only people who could not sing ,but i liked music and learnt to play guitar and dance. when i went to medical school , i found Jesus and HE influenced the way i do every thing. Finally i decided to say no to secular music with some of my friends,simply because we thought its drifting us from the Lord. When we go for a movie or listen to such musics we found ourselves immersed so much in THEIR world and found hard to pray. See we were very weak!!!.So when lent came ,we decided that we'll fast Chithrageetham (film song show in TV) and secular music that lent. And some body introduced to us some other music liek that of Maranatha Music ,Celebrant singers and We belong to thee ' by REx band. For the first time i knew music will make me cry and take me closer to Jesus !After that lent we found ourselves least interested in those secular things any more...!!Praise the Lord. But still my room mates and nearby neighbours were with those songs and many times ,even when i don't play music i was forced to hear them and to think about the scenes which i never wanted to . Many of those songs were romantic hits...like Ashiqui and Many Amir khan songs. So i found a way out...some songs i changed words...for eg ..for the song Chura ke Dil mera...Goriya chalimanzil meri bus thoo hi thoo ..Theri gali mein chali.. when i changed the words with Jesus..it was one of the best songs i could sing of jesus to others... I made it like this Chura ke dil mera..Easho(Jesus) Chalae(Jesu stole my heart).Manzil meri Bus thoo hi thoo thaeri gali mein chali (my goal is you and i'm walikng in your way)! Many of my friends liked this idea .If we were to sing many romantic songs to Jesus ,my God ,it made such a difference .And still Jesus remained my love. And my favourite love song to him was...Nazar ke samne , Jighar ke pas koyi rehatha hein woh hi tum(You are the one who lives close to my heart and always before my eyes). But few years later , i came to see one presentation(Rock'n'Ruin) by Freddie from Bombay at Emmaus regarding the hidden traps in Rock music .My God that's the first time i heard about back masking whence some song which seem to be innocent when played back wards had all sorts of blasphemy and bad things said about God. And he also told us how music affects our thinking and how certain music could lead people to suicide even...This doen't mean that all rock singers use such tecniques...only thing is that many people failed to identify which is bad..I don't want to open a can of worms when i say this. At that time i was so happy in my old decision of not hearing secular music any more. And by that time i was introduced to lot of singers who used to sing only for the Lord. And i had enough songs to hear and sing . It is proved that what we hear and see has great impact on us some of the unborn babies were made to hear certain music and once born they were passified by hearing those songs again .I can testify that in my life itself...Just to check it ,when i was pregnant ,i used to sing to my unborn baby one song always Ammayekkal ninne snehichidum oru thathanundu kunje swarlokathil which means ..there is a father in heaven for you ,who loves you more than your mom, who created you and entrusted you with me...''. even now when she cries , if i sing that song she will be passified.She is also a fan of Rex Band songs and action songs. So even though my husband and myself are not good singers or dancers..we have great joy singing and dancing with our baby for the Lord and with the Lord.She enjoys that session before we all go to bed most of the days. One day after our prayer group, during chit chat one of my friends told about a friend of his who used to sing one song when he gets drunk in the hostel ..(the song meant ...see this leg that stamped to death my 6 kids )and everybody laughed...the next day when i woke up i found that same parady ringing in my ears over and over,even with out me realising it..!!! I also remeber a Jy who used to get up first in his hostel to play a christian song ,so that every body who gets up hearing that ,used to echo some lines from those songs when they were taking bath etc So what i wanted to say is that ,what ever we do or hear has a great impact on us as well as others... so we should be choosing things with great care. We have tuned our music system in such a way as to get automatically started by 5.45 am and it plays some gospel songs and then rosaryso it really helps us to get our minds tuned for personel prayer as we get up from bed and brush our teeth and get ready before we sit to pray.
