May the grace of the Lord with you all. Dear friends, Priests are also like us. They also have all the feelings and desires as what we possess. The only difference is that they made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. But, many of them deviate from their chosen path after few years. Is it is solely their responsibly or do we share some? Is it is only because of their lack of personal prayers or ours as well? I think we are also responsible for that. Our prayer, support and respect are inevitable for priesthood as we are all the members of the same family. Our moral support and doings are also important for them. How many of us are praying and fasting for our Church and priests, but there are a lot to accuse them. Let us remember that our strength is the strength of our Church. Let me just share an incident. Today morning while I was attending morning Mass, the priest who was saying that Mass yawned during the first reading. The moment I saw that I closed my eyes and prayed for that priest to strengthen him. The least thing I could do, but it is a great prayer in heaven. Please take a moment to relax your mind and humble your heart to focus on Christ. Allow God, to be the only person on your mind while you read this prayer. If we can take the time to read long jokes, stories, etc., we should give the same respect to this prayer. Friends that pray together, stay together. Dear Lord, I thank You for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Dear buddies True imitation of Jesus Christ is to remain chaste, poor and obedient. I just picked up something that i think is not very clear. From what i've quoted Bensi (above in bold) are you saying that that only applies to priests? As children of God we are all brothers and sisters of Christ, and imitating Christ is what God wants from all of us and not just priests. so in this case, i think chaste should not mean remaining virgins your whole life, but it should be within the context of marriage and as God willed it to be (morality, fidelity etc). St. Paul tells us in Corinthians 7:14, that there are those who are called to be virgins. Let them who can remain virgins remain as such, for it is written (Rev 14:4): I agree that that verse is from the bible and very relevant. But i feel that the call to remain a virgin is a personal one that God will give to the person. i odn't think it should be general as in, all priests Should be virgins, kind of thing. but i guess that's where alot of people will disagree with me, and ure welcome to tell me why. please don't bomb me guys!! :) I agree totally with someone who mailed saying that we should be praying for priests and those in leadership. we have that responsiblity, definitely. but i personally don't agree wtih the rule that priests should be virgins. i think that should be a personal decision made on the basis of their call from God. 4TH APRIL 2003 ST. ISIDORE DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH (c.556?--636) LIFE: The 76 years of Isidore's life were a time of conflict and growth for the Church in Spain. Dear Friends, The statistics quoted by Bensilal is a dangerous one. The Catholic Church has over 500,000 dedicated priests around the world. Owing to the wide publicity and pressure from different quarters around 400 priests in the US have been brought to stand trial for sexual abuses some dating back to 1960s. While my aim is not to support those who are guilty or expose them this number constitutes only 0.08 per cent of the clergy. When we point fingers to this minute section we conveniently forget or refuse to appreciate or thank the dedicated services rendered by 99.02 per cent of the priests. A large majority of the orphans are the result of illicit relations of married people like you and I. How many married couples are abusing their own children, or orphans under their charge? How many have been accused and brought to justice? True, priests have made a commitment to God to remain chaste and a few, very few, have not been able to stay faithful. Dear All, Hope you have heard about the epidemic in Singapore - Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). This is a type of atypical pneumonia originated from China and was brought to Singapore by three travellers from Hong Kong. Five people in Singapore have already died of this. This is an air borne disease and research is ongoing to find a cure. All the schools here are closed for two weeks. Now the situation seems to be under control. One hospital here is identified exclusively for SARS patients only. Some of the nurses and doctors attended to the patients also have been infected even though they had worn masks and gloves etc. Many malayalee nurses (including JYs) work in that hospital. One of them was infected but have recovered since. Please pray for all the people affected by this decease. Specially pray for all the medical staff, JYs and Malayalam prayer group members working in those hospitals. Also pray for the early containment of this decease.
