[ksmserver] [Bug 388208] New: Login screen doesn't allow to type normally and show virtual keyboard

2017-12-24 Thread Tom Kijas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388208

Bug ID: 388208
Summary: Login screen doesn't allow to type normally and show
virtual keyboard
   Product: ksmserver
   Version: 5.11.4
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: l.lu...@kde.org
  Reporter: t.ki...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

WHERE: on 3 of my computers, clean installation, various GPUs.

WHAT:
login screen doesn't allow to type normally and show virtual keyboard, that is
about 1/2 of the screen. Rest of screen is black. When I click to hide the
keyboard, it hides, but after I want to type password it appears again.

It is terribly confusing.

I still can type with keyboard and login, but I am unable to choose anything at
login screen as virtualkeyboard appears.

The bug is described there: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=252&t=143311

2017-12-24 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388199

Why so complicated? The normal way to work with the geolocation editor is to
drag & drop the image from the list to the appropriate location on the map. No
complicated copying of the coordinates.

[kwin] [Bug 388182] Plasma breaks when taking a screenshot of chromium

2017-12-24 Thread Altguard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388182

I'm unclear as to whether or not you'd like for me to run gdb on the process
before or after kwin locks, so I tried both.

Trying to run it after locking kwin, I get "ptrace: No such process". After
searching through htop and ksysguard, it seems like the kwin_x11 process is
entirely gone after screenshotting Chromium, and running "kwin_x11" from
konsole actually fixes the problem.

The attached file is from running gdb while kwin is still working properly
(Which I'm assuming is not what you needed from me, but its there just in
case).

I feel there is an unnecessary extra step to extract using right click menu. It
is best if the user clicks "Extract" and 1 click extracts with the default,

Current behavior does not extract on click, it opens a submenu with 3 more
options.

Just a faster approach to extracting.

[digikam] [Bug 388199] no context menu to copy coordinates from map

2017-12-24 Thread Uwe Stöhr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388199

> Therefore, this section must be removed in the manual.

Please not. I mean that is the feature why I installed digiKam!
I mean I want a program to tag the location of my holiday images.

Currently I do this:
1. go to the location in OSM:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/search?query=bilbao#map=18/43.26633/-2.92743
2. copy "-2.92743" to the clipboard
3. paste this to the longitude field of the geolocation editor
4. copy "43.26633" to the clipboard
5. paste this to the latitude field
6. press apply

So why can't digiKam offer this?:
1. go to the desired location in the geolocation editor
2. right-click onto it in the map
3. a context menu pops up "use this location for the selected images"
4. one selects this menu
5. one presses apply to accept the change

This is also possible for Google maps, because the URL contains the coordinates
as well:
https://www.google.de/maps/place/Bilbao,+Bizkaia,+Spanien/@43.2662736,-2.9292067,440m

Hi, thanks for your report but I can't reproduce this (generating a key is of
course part of our usual tests). So there must be something in your setup that
is unexpected.

Could you please try to shutdown kleopatra, move away the directory:
%APPDATA%\gnupg
then launch Kleopatra and try again. Maybe you have some corrupted files in
that directory, that could cause such a failure.

If this does not work please start the command line (Hit the Windows + R button
and enter cmd) and there run:

gpg --gen-key

And follow the instructions there. That might produce a better error.
Internally this is what Kleopatra would do in the end.

Best regards,
Andre

If we block at kernel level device calls, the process will freeze.

There is not much we can or will do about it, especially as KDE provides it's
only userspace NFS/SMB clients for exactly this reason.

There's a similar bug in plasmashell which lists some options workarounds, and
some patches that can supress the issue from plasmashell.

Currently this menu that comes from Marble is disabled. It also includes the
possibility to create bookmarks. but these are not compatible with our
bookmarks management and do not run on all operating systems. That caused
confusion among users. It is not possible to remove only the bookmark
management, therefore the whole menu is disabled. The Google Map does not have
such a menu either. Therefore, this section must be removed in the manual.

[krita] [Bug 388201] New: Stuck at "Remove Nodes: 0%" after series of operations

2017-12-24 Thread Vladimir Savic
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388201

Bug ID: 388201
Summary: Stuck at "Remove Nodes: 0%" after series of operations
   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: vladimir.firefly.sa...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

After performing series of specific operation Krita gets stuck at high CPU
usage. GUI stays partially responsive. I can bring About dialog for example.
Closing image is impossible though.

1. New document (for testing purpose let's say: A5 at 300 dpi, 16 bit
float/channel)
2. New Fill layer
3. Choose "Color" instead of "Pattern" and hit OK
4. Try deleting layer at bottom of the list (should be "Layer 1")

8 bit images do not exhibit the same problem.

[Akonadi] [Bug 336581] accidental database loss causes Akonadi / KMail to silently break correct folder assignments

2017-12-24 Thread Martin Steigerwald
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336581

(In reply to Frits Spieker from comment #12)

Dear Frits, please refrain from writing unrelated stuff into this bug report.
The bug report is about the effects of accidental database loss on folder
assignments and nothing else. It is not a discussion forum or a mailing list.
Using it for any random comment makes it more difficult to read by any of the
developers. Please use KDE Forum or preferably kdepim-users mailing list to
vent your frustration.

Have a Merry Christmas,
Martin

[kwin] [Bug 387486] kwin hangs when trying to start on another seat other than seat0

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387486

--- Comment #8 from bluescreenaven...@gmail.com ---
That patch, ...I don't think it can be final... Two issues I come across, the
devices in seat0 by default aren't found by
udev_enumerate_add_match_property

unless they are explicitly configured in a udev config file for seat0... ...and
boot_vga devices will not be in all seats...

...and I'm still matching with getenv(XDG_SEAT)... I might be able to get
around that, by changing logind.cpp, but that means this probably will have to
be a series, I think?

[digikam] [Bug 388199] New: no context menu to copy coordinates from map

2017-12-24 Thread Uwe Stöhr

Bug ID: 388199

OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

I want to add coordinates to an image. I read the docs and in sec. 5.1.2 "Edit
Coordinates" it writes:

"Eventually you click with the right mouse button at the desired position and
choose Copy Coordinates."

The bug is that I don't get a context menu. I played around but cannot find a
way to copy the coordinates. The kind of map (marble or OSM) doesn't matter.

How can I get coordinated from the map?

With the menu Help->What's this? I expect to be able to click on an UI element
to get info. However the only element where I get info is the image editing
menu buttons.

So if the what's this feature is not really used the menu entry for it should
maybe be disabled to avoid confusion.

[plasmashell] [Bug 388197] New: Change of font causes 100% CPU Utilization in plasmashell

2017-12-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388197

Bug ID: 388197
Summary: Change of font causes 100% CPU Utilization in
plasmashell
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.11.4
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: paulce...@yahoo.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Linux: openSUSE Tumbleweed
Plasma version 5.11.4
Framework version 5.41.0
QT version 5.9.3.
64 Bit CPU, kernel 4.14.

Description: Change font for menus/display through "Configure Desktop"
(systemsettings5) from Noto Sans to a user-installed Truetype font. Rebooting
will cause plasmashell to go to 100% CPU utilization. Changing font back causes
normal behavior.

Reproducible: Yes, by changing fonts from the 'stock' font selections to any
user-installed Truetype font and rebooting.

Fix/work-around: running systemsettings5 from command-line (which is somewhat
responsive), and changing font back, and restarting X (CTRL-ALT-Backspace
twice) will bring plasmashell back to normal load.

Many thanks for the quick fix.

I am sorry that I used digiKam 5.7 to report bugs. You linked me to 5.8 but on
the digiKam website still 5.7 is advertised as the latest version.

[krita] [Bug 387807] First brush stamp is 100% opaque if some pop-up is open

2017-12-24 Thread Alvin Wong
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387807

Unfortunately I couldn't find a generic way to reliably detect a popup being
dismissed.

Hooking into the FocusIn event checking `QFocusEvent::reason ==
Qt::PopupFocusReason` looked promising. However, for some reason I only get
that from the application menus but not from the brush setting/selector popups.
I thought `QMenu`s are normal widgets with the flag `Qt::Popup` and the brush
setting/selector popups are the same?

The same on openSUSE Leap 42.2 with Asus Zenfone Laser 2
Kernel: 4.4.103-18.41
dolphin-16.08.2-3.1
KDE PLasma 5.8.6
KDE Frameworks: 5.26.0
Qt 5.6.1

In journal log I can see:
usb 1-2: usbfs: process 9778 (mtp.so) did not claim interface 0 before use
usb 1-2: reset high-speed USB device number 10 using xhci_hcd

-

This usually occurs when the device goes to sleep mode while still being
connected via USB. However as far as I remember on some of Android devices this
is not invoking any problems with transfer.

As to broken architecture... The dreaded KMail hanging with the message
"Retrieving message/ folder content screen" showing indefinitely is back. On
top of that KMail now always crashes when writing a new email using autofill
for the receiver (start typing the email address and when trying to select one
of the suggestions made, KMail will crash). I will search if a bug report has
been filed for that one and if not I will file it myself.

KMail/ Akonadi had been "OK-ish" for a couple of months (to the extent I even
removed my backup solution of Thunderbird), but it is back to being near
useless again.

2017-12-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 388194
Summary: Resize VNC screen causes taskbar to reset to default
settings
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.11.4
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Tray
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: slartibar...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Use any VNC connection to a plasma5 desktop.
Resize the vnc window appropriately.
Then, unlock widgets. Use the hamburger menu of the taskbar to resize it in
height, so that for example in 'icons only task manager' the icons are big
enough to see a difference to before.
Lock widgets again.

Now, resize the vnc window
Next, the taskbar goes back to 'default' settings, the resizing done above is
gone...

Any idea how to fix this?

Also, if a set it ignores every settings. If I set it to appear only on my
"test" activity (from screenshot), it appears also in the other. When I set it
to not appear in every activity, it disappears, but returns when I restart
plasma.
